Fw: asking for your help to save my bernese puppy

2003-06-30 Thread Swisskiss BMD
This is a heartbreaking email that I received last night, the sad reality is
that this is what is happening to our breed.
The number of Berner puppies in pet shops, x-bred and unregistered litters
advertised in the papers is now common when only a few years ago it was
unheard of, I fear what the future holds for our breed.

Subject: asking for your help to save my bernese puppy

   to whom it may concern
i bought my first bmd puppy from local pet shop on 11may03, i
discovered that it is very lovely and
enjoyable . then i bought another bmd puppy which is 6 weeks old,
 three weeks later 31may03
from the same local pet shop. however, after the first free health
 check up, my second puppy
was found to have a diagnosis, congenital heart disease heart
murmur
graded 5/6. so i returned it
to the pet shop on 4jun03. i was told that the puppy will recover
when 6 months old of age or
later. then the puppy was stored in the pet shop these few weeks.
due
 to love,care and
concern,i always went to pet shop to see the puppy to see how was
the
 situation. i requested
to the the pet shop owner to have another check up hopefully to
have
 good news.
unfortunately, i was given the same answer. i dont want the puppy
stay in the pet shop crate
another few weeks waiting for disposal, i paid the pet shop
handling
 charge and got the puppy
back my home on 27jun03.
now, i have problems to save my sick puppy. how can i handle this
 kind of disease?
my to puppies always fight for domination and i dont want the sick
 puppy to have any accident
due to any fighting exercise. what can i do right now? is there any
place to save my sick puppy so
i can prolong his life? do i need to do ultrasound to search for a
detailed situation? or ask for heart
   surgery?

  plz reply

  Richmond, BC.

looking for some information

2003-01-22 Thread Swisskiss BMD

Hi Everyone There is a major problem in BC (Canada) with people
advertising X
bred and unregistered Bernese puppies in the newspaper, most of them are
from the Lower Mainland and Interior of BC. There has been a dozen ads
in
the last few months, from $450 to $2000, none have done any health
testing
or clearances and all are giving out false information about their dogs
and
the breed. Some have had accidental breedings most have done the
breeding on
purpose, every six months they are back in
the paper again. All of these
people have one thing in common, their only concern is to make as much
money as they can from the sale
of the puppies. There was one woman even brokering dogs in BC, I think
we
have convinced her to stay away from Bernese, time will tell on that one.
I do not know where all the dogs are coming from, I do know a few have
imported their dogs from Switzerland, (we are trying to get the pedigrees
of
the dogs and send them to the Swiss club), some have come from Ontario as
 well as Washington.
Please feel free to contact us if you are planning to sell a puppy in our
area (Vancouver Island) we are happy
to check things out for you. The really scary thing is that in the next
while all of the offspring could be out there breeding as well.
We have contacted the Canadian National Club, they have put a couple
counter ads in
the paper but they are not able to put it under pets for sale so I am not
sure how much feed back they are getting from the ads.
We are going to be running some ads in the paper with an email
information
contact that will automatically send out information about the breed and
why
you should buy from a reputable breeder, why you should not buy
unregistered
puppies. I am looking for some good information and articles to include
in
 the email for education purposes,
if anyone has anything you think might help and you don't mind if we use
part or all of it please send it to us
right away. I don't want to put our email address or phone number in the
paper, as it is we get too many calls inquiring about the breed and
puppies
as it is, this is to help educate people about our breed and what is a
responsible breeder only. We are
going to keep track of how many emails and inquiries we get from these
ads.
Look forward to hearing back from anyone with some ideas for us.

Berners being brokered

2002-11-12 Thread Swisskiss BMD
Hi Everyone There is a women in the Vancouver BC area brokering dogs,
right now she has two ads in the Vancouver Sun, one for unregistered Berner
puppies $1400 and another one for X bred Berner puppies from $750-$775. She
does not breed them but is buying them from somewhere, she also apparently
gets other breeds, know seems to know where she is getting them from. She
will not give out any information on the parents until 1/2 the cash is
deposited in her account up front, even then I don't think you would get the
truth. We have contacted her but she is very guarded with information.
There is also two other ads in same paper for two other litters of Bernese
from $1500-2000. The National club is aware of these ads and had put
counter ads in but the paper won't let them put the ad under dogs for
sale. I have seen ads from other breed clubs listed under this heading so
I don't why the BMDCC is not allowed. What are other clubs doing about
these types of problems?? I am not on the board this year but will forward
any suggestions to them that you think might help.
Thanks
