Re: [Blind-Computing] nvda and file zilla

2011-02-03 Thread Jacob Kruger
JUust tried it out now while uploading a file, and I find that if I play
around a bit in the upload/download queue listbox, on one of the items there
for a file being transferred, by arrowing up and down a bit, and then
reading the line that (I think) starts with transferring, it at least some
of the time speaks something like:

0:30 left

Which indicates around 30 seconds left.

Try going to My Files, then when you open that locate the Contacts
folder and open that.

Now you should be able to see a series of *.CONTACT files, highlight the
specific contact you want to modify and open the FILE (ALT+F) menu and
select OPEN or NEW, depending on whether you want to edit an existing
contact or create a new contact you should find yourself in the Name
E-Mail tab.

Note that if you select NEW you need to select the Contact option.

[Blind-Computing] In Outlook Express Deleted folder will not Compact

2011-02-03 Thread Alan Dicey
Dear Friends,
I am using XP-Home, JAWS 11 and Outlook Express 6.XX, which has always worked
satisfactory.
However, lately for the past couple of weeks, I cannot Compact my Deleted
Folder.
All the other folders, the In Box, and all the other Folders I have created to
have my message rules send emails into Compact fine.
However, when I try to Compact the Deleted Folder, I get a critical stop wav
sound, then a message saying The folder is in use by Outlook Express or
another application, OK

Even when I just first open up my Windows, and go directly to Outlook Express,
without opening any other Folders, I get this situation.

And when I try to Compact All Folders from another folder, I get this message
also.

I can however as I said Compact each of my folders individually.

Anyone have any ideas what is causing this?

Thanks for any suggestions.

With Best Regards,
Alan

[Blind-Computing] any special features for cross over cable

2011-02-03 Thread lloydfuge352

Hi

The subject tells it all. I recently noted an email in which the outline of
connecting two PCs for net working with a cross over cable was discussed.
the cable was simply called a UTP cable.

I presume such a cable has USB connections on each end. Are there some
specifications I should know about to purchase an appropriate connector?

Any help would be appreciated.

The computers are an XP and a W7 and I am currently using Jaws 11.

Thanks,

Re: [Blind-Computing] any special features for cross over cable

2011-02-03 Thread TJ McElroy gMail

Hello Lloyd,

I would suggest that if you can afford it, to purchas a Link-sys
router, instead of bothering with cross over cables.

By using a router instead of cross over cables you will have faster
file transferring and both computers will have access to the internet.

I am not sure of the other routers, but a Link-sys wrt54g router is
pretty easy to setup and will allow your local area network (LAN) to be
expanded later when you out grow the two original computers.

[Blind-Computing] Using Jaws on an onboard soundcard

2011-02-03 Thread Don Risavy, Jr.
Hello all,

I have two soundcards one being a Creative labs X-FI and one being an
onboard RealTech.

I want to be able to use Jaws on the onboard RealTech soundcard and leave
the Creative labs X-FI for all my audio playback and recording.

When I check the soundcard options within Win7 Ultimate 32 both soundcards
show they are enabled and in use which is definitely the case as all the
sounds switch from my X-FI with the speakers connected and turned on which
is my default soundcard to the RealTech.

So needed to know and or find out do I need to disable the RealTech
soundcard so this doesn't happen when plug in my extra speakers have to use
on that card and if so will that stop the problem from occurring where the
RealTech soundcard becomes the main or default source which happens when
plug the other speakers into the onboard soundcard with the main speakers
still hooked up to and connected and turned on for the X-FI.

So hope made some since of the situation so someone can possibly help and or
assist me with this matter and or issue.

Thanks.

Re: [Blind-Computing] removing attachments from email but keeping theemail

2011-02-03 Thread Mike Barbara In Arcadia
Hi Chris;

These are some steps I wrote for myself using Outlook Express. Try them and
see if they work with Outlook.
Let's say someone sends you an email with an attachment in it. Now, you
want to save the email but, not the attachment. Here is what you do.
1. With the email open press control + F to forward the email to yourself or
to whomever you might want to send the email to without the attachment.
2. Enter in to whomever you are sending this email to.
3. Tab down to where the email says attachment and press the delete key or
you can
also, press the applications / context menu key, arrow down to remove,
press enter to delete the attachment.
4. Now, tab down to the edit field, make any changes, or remove old email
addresses and crap like that and send the email.

Now, when you send this email it will be without the attachment.

When you delete an attachment, you better be damn sure that you want to
delete it, because once you do , it is gone , permanently! In all the tests
I've done, not 1 deletion went to the Recycle Bin.

Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

Specifically, for DVDs etc., I would use VLC media player, since it lets you

To get to that folder outside of windows mail, I hit start menu button, tab
once onto my login name, hit enter, in the folder that then appears, just
hit letter C and it will highlight contacts, hit enter, and I find all my
