Re: [Blind-Computing] BCC field not showing up

2011-04-06 Thread Arianna
Mike, so are you saying that every time the compute is booted up, if my
friend wants the bcc field available, she'll have to press alt b? With all
headers checked, why doesn't it hold?

Hi Arianna;

I don't know if this has been suggested but, if you press, Alt + B, as in
Boy, this keystroke works as a toggle for showing or not showing the BCC
field. This keystroke will turn the BCC field on / off even with, All
Headers checked. Hope this helps. Take care.

If you had the problem of no sound after installing Vinux 3.0.1, here is a
solution.

you can restore sound by waiting until the system has fully booted then
pressing ctrl+alt+t to open a terminal, and

then typing the following commands exactly as written:

sudo /etc/init.d/pulseaudio reload

then press ctrl+alt+o to reload Orca.

Then if you're not using a live cd/dvd and would like to make the change
permanent, alt tab back to the terminal and run:

sudo gedit /etc/init.d/pulseaudio

Scroll down and change 'sleep 4' to 'sleep 12' on line 39 then save this
file. Next time you restart, the sound should be fine.

In the older version of the live CD I had of ubuntu itself, you had to do
something during boot up to make it start talking, or alternatively once
it's started, I think alt + F2 brings up a sort of run dialogue and typing
in orca, and hitting enter made it start.

The only real version have here now is a relatively recent version that can
boot off a flash drive on some computers, and it does it all automatically.

2011-04-06 Thread Rick Justice

Hi Janie,
2 things come to mind here:
1. Is WLM set to block attachments?
If so, this would account for the save attachments, being unavailable
2. Is the message open when you go to the menus to save the attachment?
If not, this could also be the case, where save attachments, is not
available.

I am not familiar with WLM, but these things apply in Outlook Express.

Hello, Janie:

When I wish to save any kind of e-mail, I put a copy on the clipboard. Then,
I go to Word, and make it a word document.

There may be other, simpler ways, but, that's how I do it.

Hope This Helps.

 Hello all,
Tried to save an attachment in WlM with jaws 12 and 11
In jaws 12 I get alt f as the file menu and save sub menu but when I arrow
 down it says
 save attachment unavailable.
 Please advise
Also when I use jaws 11, tapping alt f just bings so I can't even get to
 the file menu that way
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Janie,
2 things come to mind here:

Re: [Blind-Computing] Desperately need Station Playlist Studio uninstall help

2011-04-06 Thread Chris Feist
Hi Desiree. Thanks. That's exactly the info I needed. I did a clean
uninstall now. Whew! I don't know why, but this demo for Station Playlist
does not get along with my computer at all. I guess I'm just going to have
to purchase the program outright and assume that I will like it. Others
have said the demo is kind of flakey, and they don't have issues with the
purchased program, so I'm probably OK doing that... would have preferred to
try it out first, though.

-Original Message-

Hi,
When you uninstall a program, often there are parts left over in the
directory it installs in. I guess this is so that if people want to
resurrect old settings, and install the program at a later time, they
can do that. All you have to do is go into the directory where it was
installed, usually C:\Program Files\whatever the name of the program
is. If it's not under the name, in this case Station Playlist Studio,,
it will be under the name of the company that created it. When you
find that folder, just delete it, and try installing the program
again.
This is what's referred to as a clean install and can solve many
problems with programs when they just stop working right for whatever
reason.

Desiree

Hi. I was trying out the demo for Station Playlist Studio V4.33. It did
a
bad install, or is buggy or something, because it wouldn't let me add my
music library. Then it would lock up, etc.

So, I chose to uninstall so I could reinstall it to see if that would
help.

However, when I uninstalled the program, I got this message:

 Station Playlist Studio uninstall complete.
Some elements could not be removed. These can be removed manually.
 OK

My question is how do I do that?

The reason is because I did tried a reinstall without knowing how to do
that, and it retained personal data from before, plus the same problem
remained. I need to somehow wipe all the data from that program but don't
 know how.

I'm thinking of just giving up on the demo and shelling out the money for
the actual standard version outright. That or just giving up on this
program all together. It's been a major headache. I hadn't been this
discouraged about a computer program in a long time. Sorry about being a
downer. I'm just really discouraged right now.

[Blind-Computing] add/remove, response to Yvonne

2011-04-06 Thread John Justice
Yvonne,
Acrobat is a .pdf document reader. Although there are several .pdf readers,
in my opinion, Acrobat is one of the best and there is a free version.
I'm not sure how much you know about these specialized files so I'll give
you a brief description.
.PDF = PORTABLE DOCUMENT FILE:
These files are excellent because they are stable in most operating systems.
They can't be corrupted by accidental key strokes and can only be created by
someone using the proprietary software made for that purpose. They take up
less room than a standard document file. So, if you have a current version
of Acrobat on your system, I recommend that you don't remove it.

ADOBE AIR:
this is a recent addition to the Adobe family and I have no idea what it
does. However, it is, in the dormant state, a very tiny program and doesn't
have to be removed. However, I believe that it only works on the Windows 7
platform, not in Windows XP.
I hope this helps. But in general, neither of these programs are memory
hogs and you don't need to be concerned about them if you are trying to free
up memory on your system.

Mike, so are you saying that every time the compute is booted up, if my
friend wants the bcc field available, she'll have to press alt b? With
all headers checked, why doesn't it hold?

Hi Arianna;

I don't know if this has been suggested but, if you press, Alt + B, as
in

Boy, this keystroke works as a toggle for showing or not showing the BCC
field. This keystroke will turn the BCC field on / off even with, All
Headers checked. Hope this helps. Take care.

[Blind-Computing] recording

2011-04-06 Thread kimsan
Hi,

For those who record stuff and having their jaws be heard while they are
talking what do you use?

I'm pretty much asking like the tetorials that david farin does where he is
showing us how to do stuff and you can hear his screen reader in the
background. What goes into all of that to make it happen?

Thanks.

With all headers checked, it should hold once it is toggled on or until it's
