[Blind-Computing] How to reinstall Windows
Dear all, Further to my earlier correspondence, I am unable to get into my Windows using the F8 option. I have been advised that it may mean that my hard disc is gone? Since I am on holidays, I am considering reinstalling Windows but have never tried this before. I have the system restore disc for this HP work station and I believe there is a label on the machine itself with the Windows seriel number. This is a HP work station running Windows Vista business. Can some kind soul provide me with step by step instructions on how to ensure that my hard disc is absolutely clean and reinstalling / restoring Windows? Also, is restoring or reinstalling Windows one and the same thing? hi there, to completely iraze your hard disk of all data, you can use this utility https://sourceforge.net/projects/dban/files/dban/dban-2.2.6/dban-2.2.6_i586.iso/download you press f10 when booted in to the cd. how to reinstall windows? normally, because windows setup does not have speach, you would need sighted assistance. insert your windows disk in to the cd drive. turn on your computer and wate for the disk to boot. press any key to continue. you then will see a message telling you setup is loading files. after setup has done this, you will need to click on english in the language selection box. you may need to enter product key, I can't be shore. someware you need to enter it. restore and reinstall, are 2 verry different things. restoring your computer is only reseting the old windows files reinstalling is completely formating your hard drive, and reinstalling everything from scratch I hope that helps. Hi Majid, Thanks so much for explaining and the link. As I have mentioned earlier, I don't have the Windows disc just the back up disc that I believe have the system restore files. [Blind-Computing] office headset?
Anyone have any suggestions on a headset that will allow me to hear my screen reader and phone call at the same time? For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [Blind-Computing] office headset?
Buy a cheap one; they wear out fast. Put the earphone in one ear only. When you do this (as opposed to using speakers) you will find that you can increase the reading rate of JAWS, or whatever screen reader you use. Having the other ear open will let you hear your phone ring and allow you to hear what is going on around you. -Original Message- From: blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Kliphton Sent: Sunday, August 05, 2012 4:59 PM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: [Blind-Computing] office headset? That won't work if everyone is required to use a headset for the phone. I used two headphones--the one given to me for the phone in one ear and one for JAWS on the PC in the other ear. Re: [Blind-Computing] PC tuner card with Verizon fios
HI hareth, Thank you for this TV tuner card software information as it looks promising. I can't seem to find a list of all compatible TV tuner cards, but I'll contact the developer worst case scenario to compare with my card. I did see a reference to compatibility with jaws as well as a reference to configurable user defined hotkeys. He is installing a tuner card and a cable attached module and I was wondering how well does a setup like this work with JAWS? How accessible are the cards and how difficult are they to setup? Also, how is the audio from the cards, clear or do you have to do something special? Thanks for your help. If you could provide mottle numbers that would be great as well.
