[Blind-Computing] FOR RANDY, UPGRADING FROM XP TO WINDOWS 7
Randy, At this time, it is still possible to purchase an upgrade disk which will take you from Windows XP to Windows 7. However, as soon as Windows 8 comes out as a fully functioning version, the Windows 7 disks will be much harder to find. If you're going to do this at all, I'd suggest you do it very soon. There's a great deal of documentation available which can help you transition from XP to Windows 7. Some of it might still be on the Blind Computing site. The version of Jaws you are using might have some effect on how well Windows 7 functions once you have made the change. Anything over Jaws 11 should work just fine. For me, switching from one type of Windows to the other was a bit challenging at first but to tell you the truth, it wasn't that much of a problem. There are many people on our list here who can give you help or hints. I can't emphasize enough though, if you are going to make the switch, do it very soon! It won't be long before Windows 8 comes out as a complete marketable version if it hasn't done so already. The stores have a bad habit of getting rid of older software very quickly. That's because they make much more money on the newer programs. Good luck, Randy. alright, both of my answers are as far as I know, ok? now then, most say that you must do a clean install which means using a full install disk and wiping the drive totally before installing the new operating system, and so far that has held true. now then, as far as using the disk twice, as far as I know the answer is both yes and no, you can probably get away with using the disk to install windows 7 a second time, but... you will not be able to register it with the key provided with the disk, and it will stop running in I think it's 30 days if not registered with MS, so you can start the process but you will... need to buy another key to run the second copy of windows in example, I have a clean OS installer file which is windows 7 home premium edition with no manufactures junk added in, its a full install file but it will go south for the rest of your life if you don't have, or don't get a valid license file number to feed it toot sweet! take care, inthane -Original Message- From: Blind-Computing [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Pedro Romero Sent: Friday, November 16, 2012 3:44 PM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] FOR RANDY, UPGRADING FROM XP TO WINDOWS 7 I have two questions regarding this thread. 1.
