Re: [Blind-Computing] I'm looking for the most accessible DVD playing software

2012-11-25 Thread Don Marang
I like VLC Player because you can navigate around the DVD, such as go to
different chapters of the DVD. Unfortunately, the titles do not get
dynamically loaded into the menus, instead they are just generic. There
are many hotkeys and they can, with some patience, be reassigned.

All DVD Player software is enhanced since the Convenience OCR was
introduced in JAWS 13.Using this feature, it should be possible to read
and interact with the DVD on-screen menus! You will need to perform the
OCR after each sinulated mouse click.

 Hi.
 Win dvd is usable.
It doesn't have any hot keys that I know of but other than that it
 works.
You have to use the right click menu to access the controls.

Mr. Holland,

In Outlook Express you can imbed a sound file into an email. What that will
do is for instance, let's say it's your birthday I want to send you an
email for your birthday. Well, I can imbed a birthday song into the email
if your email client allows this, the birthday song will play when you open
the email to read it. This isn't an attachment but imbedded. But, this
will only work if you are reading your email in HTMl. If you take 1 of
these emails with an imbedded sound reading it in HTML change the
setting to read in plain text, this imbedded sound will not play but, the
imbedded sound in the HTMl email now becomes an attachment in the plain text
email. I don't know what other email clients the imbedded sound feature
will work in but, it sure is a cool feature of Outlook Express

If I have in any way screwed up the explanation of how imbedded sounds work,
someone please straighten me my explanation out!.
Take care.

Exactly what do you mean by embedding files in the first place?

If you mean inserting a file or files as attachments, certainly! You need
to use the Insert menu.

If you mean to have the contents of a file appear inline with the
remainder message, I suppose it depends on the type of file being the
source. I thought Outlook (not Outlook Express) provided an option to use
MS-Word as the tool of composition; in that case any file you can embed into
a Word document would likewise be the same for Outlook.

You could always alter your composition tool to Outlook just for any
messages you want to do this with, then set it back as it had been
previously.

Here you go with some quick instructions on creating a gmail account

NOTE: the same username and password can be used on all your google
accounts, i.e. youtube, google maps, google documents etc.

 1. Go to www.gmail.com
 2. Click enter on the link: Create an account
 3. On the next page fill out the form with appropriate details requested
Edit boxes by typing the fields, Check boxes by space barring on them, list
boxes and combo boxes, you know how they need to be done
 4. There will be a challentge in filling the username field, if the
 username
already exists it will tell you that it does, and give you combinations of
usernames you may want to choose - use the up and down arrow keys to toggle
the options, enter to select, if they are not what you wish you need to
 type
in a new one again in the text box, check again if the username is not
 already taken.
 5. Use the audio captcha, or request a phone verification
 6. Check the checkboxes and hit enter on the next button

Sorry did not get further from this as I did not want to create another
gmail account. If you run into any mess, mail me back at:

 Mr. Holland,

In Outlook Express you can imbed a sound file into an email. What that
 will
do is for instance, let's say it's your birthday I want to send you an
email for your birthday. Well, I can imbed a birthday song into the email

if your email client allows this, the birthday song will play when you
 open
the email to read it. This isn't an attachment but imbedded. But, this
will only work if you are reading your email in HTMl. If you take 1 of
these emails with an imbedded sound reading it in HTML change the
setting to read in plain text, this imbedded sound will not play but, the
imbedded sound in the HTMl email now becomes an attachment in the plain
 text
email. I don't know what other email clients the imbedded sound feature
will work in but, it sure is a cool feature of Outlook Express

If I have in any way screwed up the explanation of how imbedded sounds
 work,
someone please straighten me my explanation out!.
 Take care.

Exactly what do you mean by embedding files in the first place?

If you mean inserting a file or files as attachments, certainly! You need
 to use the Insert menu.

If you mean to have the contents of a file appear inline with the

source. I thought Outlook (not Outlook Express) provided an option to use

You could always alter your composition tool to Outlook just for any

Here you go with some quick instructions on creating a gmail account

NOTE: the same username and password can be used on all your google
accounts, i.e. youtube, google maps, google documents etc.

 1. Go to www.gmail.com
 2. Click enter on the link: Create an account
 3. On the next page fill out the form with appropriate details requested
Edit boxes by typing the fields, Check boxes by space barring on them,
 list
boxes and combo boxes, you know how they need to be done
 4. There will be a challentge in filling the username field, if the
 username
already exists it will tell you that it does, and give you combinations
 of
usernames you may want to choose - use the up and down arrow keys to
 toggle
the options, enter to select, if they are not what you wish you need to
 type
in a new one again in the text box, check again if the username is not
 already taken.
 5. Use the audio captcha, or request a phone verification
 6. Check the checkboxes and hit enter on the next button

Sorry did not get further from this as I did not want to create another
gmail account. If you run into any mess, mail me back at:

Hi Mr. Holland,

I did a Google search for imbedding background sounds using Windows Live
Mail I believe WLM has this feature:
Formats Supported for Background Sound in Windows Live Mail
Spice your emails with background sound in one of those formats in Windows
Live Mail.

Add Background Sound to Emails in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook
Express

To add background music or sound effects to an email message in Windows Live
Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express:

list of 1 items
.
Step by Step Screenshot Walkthrough
 (using Outlook Express)
list end
list of 5 items
. Start with
a new message in HTML format.
. Select Format | Background | Sound... from the menu.
. Use the Browse... button to select the sound file you want to play in the
background.
list of 1 items nesting level 1
. Make sure the file is of a
supported sound format.
list end nesting level 1
. Specify whether you want the sound file to be played continuously or a
certain number of times.
. Click OK.
list end

To change the sound later, select Format | Background | Sound... again from
the Windows Mail or Outlook Express menu.

Use a Remote Background Sound File from the Web

You can also insert a sound file that resides on a publicly accessible web
server instead of having it attached to your message in Windows Mail or
Outlook
Express (but not Windows Live Mail):

list of 5 items
. Set any sound file on your computer as the background sound using the
steps above.
. Go to the Source tab.
. Highlight the content of the BGSOUND's src attribute.
list of 2 items nesting level 1
. Between quotation marks, it should be the path to the sound file you
picked.
. If the source reads BGSOUND src=C:\Windows\Media\ac3.wav, for example,
highlight C:\Windows\Media\ac3.wav.
list end nesting level 1
. Paste the sound file's web address (URL) to replace the local sound file.
list of 1 items nesting level 1
. In the example, the code could read BGSOUND
src=http://example.com/bwv1043.mid; to play
Bach's double concerto
(which, sadly, is not at example.com).
list end nesting level 1
. Go to the Edit tab and continue composing your message.
list end

Remember that the music will only play if the recipient uses an email client
that understands the code and is set to play music automatically. Also make
sure Outlook Express is set to
send copies of images and sounds you include
 instead of just referencing them.

I think it may be done, you would probably need to create an html mail
template that you would slightly alter (replacing a space holder like [here]
with the file name/path) to do this,

this is approximately what I remember being done in O.E. although yes O.E.
made it easier (as far as I am concerned O.E. made a lot of things easier

Adding a music file as a background in an EMail message.

This feature is only available in Outlook Express, that I am aware of
anyways.

1. Open a new message. Put in the recipients address, subject and any
message you may want to include.

2. Go to the format menu, alt o.

3. Arrow down to the background menu, or type the letter B. The Rich Text
(HTML) box must also be checked in this menu.

4. Arrow down to sound, or type the letter s.

5. Tab to browse and press spacebar, tab to Look In to arrow up or down to

find your folder where your sound file is kept.

6. Once you find the file you want to add, press enter on the file name.

7. Tab to Play Sound, make sure this box is checked. Then tab to, repeat
settings. You can choose to just play the sound 1 time, or play the sound
continuously
by pressing your up arrow to choose how many times you want the sound file
to play when the person opens the email

8. Tab to OK and press enter.

9. Send the message as you normally would.

We work on www.fedex.com and on the Locations page.

Can anyone offer a possible solution to this issue. I am not able to use

3. Could anything else be causing this problem?

Mr. Holland,
They are discussing adding or embedding a sound file into an e-mail
message. This is something which was very popular some time ago. I would
open an e-mail about a trip on a train and hear the train itself. At the
time, I was using Outlook Express. Since Outlook is a business based
application, I'm not sure it's possible to embed a sound file like that.

Hi All,

I am trying to determine if I'm missing a disk to my Office 2002 software.
Can anyone tell me if Office 2002 came with PowerPoint? I was viewing the
only disk I have it does not have PowerPoint so, this makes me wonder if
A. Office 2002 comes with PowerPoint or, B. If i have misplaced a disk! All
help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much.
Take care.

Yes, it did include PowerPoint. I believe that it all came on a single CD.

Hi John,

I found out from another person that has the Office 2002 program that
PowerPoint did not come with it but, Publisher was on the disk in its stead.
Take care.

[Blind-Computing] Dragon Speak and jaws 13?

2012-11-25 Thread Carliss
Listers,

Win-zip has Dragon speak12 on sale and I have been wanting this program for
a long, long time. But I don't know if it really works with jaws. Some time
ago I heard that it does but I don't really know.

So if some one out there does know, please pass on the information?

J-Say, just cost to much for me at this time.

Thanks to you all.

Carliss

P.s. Is it true that part of J-Say, is, Dragon Speak?

Re: [Blind-Computing] Dragon Speak and jaws 13?

2012-11-25 Thread Mark Torgerson
Hi
Personally, I have had very little luck with speech to text programs.
However, technology advances so quickly that what I tried 3 years ago is out
of date information for the current state of things. The one thing I would
suggest is using earphones. It sounds odd, but because jaws is speaking at
the same time as you are trying to dictate, the computer can actually be
trying to convert what jaws is saying to text. Smile.
 Just my experience.

God bless,
Mark
