[Blind-Computing] Computer restarting strangely-Win 7

2012-11-29 Thread Sharon Gosling
I have been using the Jaws 13 for the past week or so to avoid the problems
with Jaws 14 crashing Windows Explorer. I leave my computer on at night to run
the MSE scan and because it has been failing to start at all sometimes. I have
the computer set to start Jaws 14 with the new voices automatically after
starting. So this morning I was surprised to find Jaws 14 greeting me. I
would have thought that Microsoft had installed an update and restarted but
there was no message with this and my Inbox was open as was the last page I had
been using in Internet Explorer.
My computer is not set to restore the open programs upon starting.
So I went to check my MSE to see if the scan had run this morning and the last
one was yesterday morning at 1:00 a.m.
No one here at the house did anything to the computer as both are computer
illiterate and would not even know how to turn on the computer much less
activate the mouse touchpad.
So am I out of line in thinking that my computer might have been invaded from
without? MSE is not much of a security program, I think. I am running the
scan with it now and will run Malware bites when it is finished.
How can I get back my peace of Mind?
Any thoughts as to what happened?
Thanks for any advice,
Sherrie Gosling

is
a great tool for the blind to help solve captcha's on websites. It takes 3

Is there anyone who can understand the Google audio CAPTCHA? Honestly, we
spent forever trying to hear it one afternoon, never got it write and no
 one
seemed to be answering the phone the one time we tried. I don't play
phone
 tag well.
Partial hearing loss in the ear most of you use on the phone, can't seem
to
hold it on the opposite shoulder while I am typing so calling is my
 absolute
last resort and usually I just forget what it was I may have been trying
to
do rather than call. I hate CAPTCHA! Google's in my opinion is one of
the
worst I have heard and my husband said he can't read it either.

I would not use Google at all any longer, if I were not required to do so
 at
work. They play at accessibility but don't take it seriously, just look
at
all the clutter on the home page.

Hi Tom,

In addition to what David has said, you can also use the up down arrow
keys to adjust the Jaws reading speed in smaller increments than the Page up
page down keys. If you don't run Jaws from the system tray, Alt + Tab to
your Jaws window, press the Alt key to open the Jaws menu, press the
letterO, for options, press the letter V, for voices. Hope this helps.
Take care.

Now tab and select, one line view press enter.

 Next,
 Alt+v=view,
use the tab key, until you hear; Reading pane drop down press enter.
Now tab to off, press enter.

 Next,
 Alt+v=view,
 use the tab key,
 until you hear;

 If it says,
 Calendar pane pressed,
Press enter this turns off the calendar pane.
Next,
Follow the above steps,
Alt+v=view,
Using the tab key, if you hear;
Quick views button pressed,
Press the enter key to turn off.
Next,
Depending on how you want to receive your messages, Ascending or descending,
Alt+v=view,
Use the tab key until you hear;

the navigation keys for tables, but I can't get JAWS to read the column
headings. I tried to get into table layer mode, JAWS KEY + SPACEBAR + T, but
this too does not help in announcing the column headings/ titles.

Any suggestions on how I can be helped in this situation will be highly
appreciated.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Tables on Webpages

2012-11-29 Thread Mujtaba Merchant
Hi,

Thanks for your email and support.

This is exactly what I tried first, and it works wonders on all the pages
except the one in question. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to share
the web address of the page I am having trouble with. The page in question
is on our companies intranet, it requires authorized access, hence the
limitation in sharing the URL. So far I have been using sighted help in my
office to get my job accomplished on that page, which needs to be done once
every month. We call it the time sheet entry, some kind of billing tool to
keep record of man hours allocated to a project.

I think using the jaws cursor also helps to a certain extent. I am not
saying that I can't do the job at all, but would have preffered if JAWS
could announce the column headings, in this case they contain the day of the
week and the date for each column in the row below we need to fill out 9
hours, hard to tell if that day was a company off, if you dont get the date
announced.

You need to set the settings for Table Titles. In Internet Explorer or
Firefox, press Insert + v for the Quick Settings dialog. Type in the
word table into the search box. Now arrow down to Table Titles, and
hit the Enter key. Press Space to change this value. The default is to
read only properly labeled titles coded into the HTML of the webpage.
If you select rows and columns, it will announce the first row and
column as the titles.
Hit the Enter key again to save the new setting.

Hi Inthane,

The Small Business version didn't come with PowerPoint, it came with
Publisher instead. This has been verified with others that have the Small
Business version. Thank you very much for your reply input.
Take care.

  mike,

try using the custom install this will display all the little tidbits that
  can be chosen from.

my 2002 came on two disks, but PowerPoint was on disk 1 along with the
rest
of the main office suite, disk 2 was Microsoft money and some other
optional
  items.

but... my set is for office pro, although PowerPoint should be with small
business, I can't see it not being there, I thought that the only missing
thing that kept me from getting SB was the lack of access in the set!

  good luck,
  inthane

Yes, it did include PowerPoint. I believe that it all came on a single CD.
