[Blind-Computing] Installing windows live mail
I am using W7, outlook 2010 and latest jaws. I know that some on the list use windows live mail and I am thinking of installing it. Any of you that have installed it yourself and could give me some pointers I would appreciate it. I have heard that there is some problems with jaws and could you tell me how to get around this? If there is something I should check or uncheck while installing I would appreciate being told about it. I would appreciate any suggestions. [Blind-Computing] Updating Adobe Reader to XI
Good Morning, Somehow, my copy of Adobe Reader got out of date and I'm trying to update to the latest version. I had version 10.x and used the check for updates in the help menu and it updated me to 10.1.6 and said No updates available when I tried the check for updates again. Should I uninstall 10.1.6 and go to http://ninite.com/ and install a fresh copy there or would ninite install the latest version over my existing version? Also, is the correct URL for ninite? I'm probably caffeine deprived, but it doesn't look quite right. I'm running JAWS 14 and Window-Eyes 7.5.x on a 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium machine with IE9 and Firefox probably 17.x. Re: [Blind-Computing] Updating Adobe Reader to XI
Hi Margaret, Yes, go to: http://ninite.com/ To get your latest Adobe XI. After updating to Adobe XI there are settings that will need to be made. They changed a few things in Adobe XI someoptions are not in the same places as in Adobe X. Below are the necessary changes. Note that there are links with the Security Enhanced section to explain the consequences of unchecking items there, and you may want to find out what they have to say. 1. Open Adobe XI from your desktop shortcut go into preferences with control-k. JAWS lands on an item in a tree view. If you have been here before, it will be the item you last opened. Arrow up or down to Security Enhanced. Note that this is the item below Security. Then uncheck these 2 options, the 2nd option is not necessary to uncheck but, optional: Enable Protected Mode at startup, needs to be unchecked. Enable Enhanced Security, does not need to be unchecked. Note. When making changes in the Security Enhanced section, you will be told that Adobe needs to be restarted, but you can wait to finish the other changes first. 2. Launch the Edit menu, scroll down to the Accessibility submenu and open it. Scroll down to the Set-up Assistant and press enter. The Set-Up Assistant has five screens, but the only change you have to make is on the last, screen 5 of 5. Go through all the screens, pressing spacebar on Next in each instance, until you reach the fifth and final screen. Here, tab to the check box labeled Display PDF documents in the web browser and make sure it is unchecked. It may be checked by default. Then tab to the Okay button spacebar it. Hope this helped. Take care. Re: [Blind-Computing] how are files or folders dragged?
Hi Tom, Just in case you decide to play around with drag drop, here are the keystrokes: Use the key strokes, (CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH) for Drag and Drop . This is used to drag items from one location and drop them in another. Position the JAWS Cursor on the item you wish to move and press CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH. You can leave the JAWS Cursor active, or you can switch to the PC Cursor. JAWS will keep speaking as you navigate. Once you have positioned the JAWS or PC Cursor in the location to which you would like to move the item, press CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH again, and the item will be moved to the position of the active cursor. Re: [Blind-Computing] excel printing
Hello, This is kind of difficult to answer for any blind computer user. You might want to look at the page layout of your excel sheet. If it's portrait it means it's vertical in layout. If it's landscape, it's horizontal in layout. Printing a worksheet also depends on how many columns you have filled in the sheet, there is a difference on how many cells are actually visible and are actually there. The key combination Insert + F1 will give you the summary of the worksheet in focus. Also under the view menu, you can choose how the worksheet can be seen, printlayout etc. While printing you are given a dialog box that allows one to print the current page or selected page like 1 to 3 etc. Users are also given the option to print the selected area, for example if you have selected cells a1:f112 all the matter in those selected cells will be printed. Note: Each worksheet has gridlines visible to the user, it represents cells on the worksheet. But while printing these gridlines are not printed unless you have provided the cells with a thin grid line border. Giving your printout a table like look. The safest suggestion I can offer here is take a sighted friend with you and practice the art of printing again and again. I sincerely apologize for not being of any ground breaking help but this is the best I can do at this point in time. -Original Message- From: Blind-Computing [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of romance's prince Sent: Saturday, February 23, 2013 4:45 PM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: [Blind-Computing] excel printing hello friends am totally blind, use excel in my work, and need to print reports and applications from excel, the problem am facing that sighted people always send me complains that sheet not formatted good and not fine in printing. please, need the steps which help me to format excellent sheet which will be printed on A4 paper. am using jaws, excel 2003. many thanks beero For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
