[Blind-Computing] changing computer clock on XP

My sister's XP computer is displaying military time.  She would like for it to 
display standard time.  In the control panel under Date and Time I see AM/PM, 
but am not able to change it with JAWS 12.  Does anyone have any suggestions as 
to how this can be changed?

another thought for you, 

turn on narrator to see what is going on when jaws goes mute? 

its there, and though a bit cumbersome can let you know what is going on,
error messages and the like!

 It is just a guess, but perhaps one of the programs you are using at 
work accidentally mutes JAWS. Perhaps changing the short cut key for muting 
and unmuting JAWS might help?

Hi Becky,

Try the following:
1. Open the control panel, go to Regional  Language Options,  press enter.

2. The first tab is Regional options so, on this tab, tab to, Standards  
Formats customize .,  press the spacebar to open.

3. There wil be 4 tabs, Numbers, Currency, Time,  Date.  Control + tab to 
the Time tab  tab 1 time to, Time Format.

4. Arrow up to the first 1, it should read, h:mm:ss tt.

5. Tab to apply, press the spacebar, tab to okay, press the spacebar to save 
your changes  close.

Dear Tom,
Try the following key commands to mute jaws, it work well with Jaws 14.
Press insert + space then press s , do the same procedure to get back the
speech.

[Blind-Computing] Setting up a multi media button on my keyboard.

Hi I want to know if their is a way to set up a button on my computer keyboard 
to run search companion in xp.  My keyboard is an hp KB-0-228
It has 9 buttons across the top for internet and email and multi media 
controls.  I know that hitting windows key+f or hitting windows key and hitting 
c brings up the search submenu and I just want to be able to press one of the 
buttons and it does it.  any help would be great.

Hi Again Becky,

I've been playing around , changing these time format options are a royal 
pain in the A**!  You might have to press enter on the option you want. 
Also, I don't know exactly how I got my time format changed to military time 
 back to regular time but, it will take some playing around!  Just wanted 
to give you a warning that it's a pain!  If anyone knows an easier way to 
change the time from being read in 24 hour / military time to reading in 12 
hour time, please jump on in!
