Re: [Blind-Computing] Using Windows XP, trying to email shortcut files with Outlook2007

2013-03-13 Thread inthaneelf
hmmm, I used to mail a application and a set of pre made shortcuts to it in
two zip files in a self-extracting zip file, done with WinZip and never had
a problem with it

I also just tested making and sending shortcuts and in a WinZip zip file it
was movable while I couldn't even make a 7zip file with the shortcut, it
refused to do the job.

guess I just found my first flaw with 7zip

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Using Windows XP,trying to email shortcut files
with Outlook2007

Hi All,

I am trying to email some shortcut files, copied from the Windows XP start
menu, but Outlook2007 puts up a message referring to the files the shortcut
files point to, not the shortcuts themselves.

That is, Outlook is trying to attach to the email, the target of the
shortcuts, not the shortcuts them self.

I tried using F2 to rename the files by adding a .TXT extension, but Outlook

still recognises them as shortcuts, looks for the target files.

Is there any way I can do this, or is it just not possible?

All advise much appreciated,
Paul from Australia

Hi Carlis,

Have you tried copying the text from the email in the draft folder into a
new email or text file, making / sending the new email, deleting the email
in the draft folder? Or, moving the email in the draft folder back into the
In-box? These are a couple of things I would try using Outlook Express but,
I see you are running Outlook so, I don't know if these options are

I think just opening the email in the draft folder and then pressing

2013-03-13 Thread Denny Huff
I had a client just yesterday that had trouble sending a message from the
draft folder. What we finally did was to move it to the inbox and then
forwarding it to the intended recipient.

The normal send commands just wouldn't work in the draft folder.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Deleting books from bard cartridges

2013-03-13 Thread Tom
it's been some time since you sent me these steps, and when I tried them
today, just to see if it would work as you listed, I found that it didn't. I
have win 7, and I doubt if the version of jaws should effect operation, but
I use jaws 8.
after I open my computer there is only 1 drive listed, D, which is for
disks, so do you or anyone out there that load books on cartriges from bard,
and use win 7 , know how to find the book list on a loaded cartrige?

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Deleting books from bard cartridges

Here we go.

1. Connect your usable cartridge to the computer with it's USB cord. I use
the short cord that goes to my little digital recorder because it is the
same kind of cord. It has a big end to plug into the cartridg and a little
USB end to plug into the computer. The characters on both ends of the cord
are facing up. The cartridge is faceing up the way you would put it in the
player. I'm putting this description down in case there is someone who
hasn't seen the way this thing goes together.

. Go to the desktop. Arrow down to my computer and enter.

3. Arrow down to the drive the cartridge is plugged into. In my case, I
have local, CD drive and the burner below it. That is E in my case. When I
plug my cartridge in, it says F.

4. Enter on the drive letter your cartridge is plugged into. There will be
a list of the books on the cartridge. I start at the top of the list, hold
down the control key and hit the spacebar to select the ones I want to
delete. That way I don't have to select them without skipping any. I can
arrow down and skip one or two in between, if I wish. Holding the left
shift key down while you arrow down will select them in the order they are
in the list. If I want to get rid of them all at once, which I have done
sometimes, I just hit control A, which selects them all to be deleted or
moved.

5. After selecting books to be deleted or moved, hit the delete key and it
will send them to the recycle bin. I hold down shift and the delet key so
that it will bypass the recycle bin. If I want a book again I can download
them, anyhow. This whole thing applies to any thumb or external drive. You
plug them in and do it the same way.

I hope this helps anybody who is beginning with downloading bard books. I
have a folder for every letter of the alphabet and one for a music
instruction folder. I put all the authors in their separate folders. I am
collecting more and more books so that they don't have to be mailed to me.
I have lots now. I love my empty cartridges. I didn't have a thumb drive
at the time I bought them.

God bless. Excuse the novel.
