It is possible the information bar is popping up. Listen closely for a soft tone, but even if you don't hear it hit alt + the letter N to access the information bar. [Blind-Computing] Braille Displays
Folks, I have been looking for a great eighty braille display. I have seen the Brailliant and the Euro ESYS. These are both candy bar style displays. I currently have the old Alva which has above the braille display and the routing keys a place for a keyboard which I find very useful. Does the new Alva look like the candy bar style or does it continue to have the space for a keyboard to sit. I have yet to see a new Alva or a Braille Edge if they come in eighty cell style or not I do not know. So looking for information if any one can help I would appreciate it. Re: [Blind-Computing] How to find internet explorer information bar
Hi Marilyn, As people have said, the keystroke to move to the Information bar is alt+N, but once there, you must press the spacebar in order to activate the options list, otherwise you'll just be sitting there pressing your arrow keys and wondering if you're going crazy since you're not getting the options you wanted. LOL. Anyway, once you press the spacebar, you'll be presented with a list of options, simply press the up or down arrow to get to the option you want for that particular item, and press enter. This will activate the desired option. Hope this helps. Scorpio For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [Blind-Computing] can't download bard books
Tom, you will have to direct it to go to a different folder if you make one on your desktop like you said. Otherwise, it goes to the default location/folder. Now of course, you can always move it from one folder to another folder. I've created a folder called NLS in fact, so these BARD books goes into it, that is just my tidy OCD kicking in to keep it all together from other stuff I happen to download from other sites still goes into the download folder. - Original Message - From: Trish trishzoellers-sc...@austin.rr.com To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, May 16, 2013 10:45 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] can't download bard books because the default is downloads, go firgure Tom..downloading something and windows thinks hey, he's downloading, lets put it in the download folder, lol - Original Message - From: Tom tclar...@gmail.com To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, May 16, 2013 10:30 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] can't download bard books so many different scenerios, but it's your usually word that gets me. Tom, I've railed against this so-called download manager, too, but seems we're stuck with it in WIN7 and higher. After hitting ALT+n, you should hear something like, Open. Tab once and it should say something like Save. You can Down Arrow twice to File Save As. Now, press Home to go to the beginning of the file name and you can enter the path to the folder where you want it saved. OR, once on File Save As and without any other keystrokes first, you can go a step further and rename the file in the process. Such an entry could look like c:\my documents\call of the wild without the quotes.\ HTH and good luck. You may have to turn your jaws cursor on with the minus key. Then do a ctrl home to get to the top of the page and start arrowing down passed the page title, menus, until you hear something about information bar, or activex. Press your right mouse key (slash key on your calculator keyboard). This should give you some options to deal with the activex problem. If you don't find the information bar/activex stuff I talked about earlier, press your pc cursor key, then turn your virtual cursor mode off with insert+z and then try the steps in the above paragraph again. Before resuming, don't forget to turn virtual cursor mode back on with insert+z. Hope this helps..
