[Blind-Computing] Outlook 2013, Jaws, extraneous speech

2013-05-25 Thread Brad Dunse
Using Outlook 2010, Win 7, Jaws 14. Similar to a recent post by someone
else, but not the same I don't think. I've always had this and not sure if
it is just something we need to deal with or not, but when arrowing down
through my mailboxes, sometimes I hear extra stuff. Like now I hear:

Inbox, copy
Outbox, copy
Blind computing, one unread message, copy
Drafts, copy

The other day instead of hearing copy at the backside of the box, I heard
something like paragraph, and other bits. Sometimes it is truncated stuff
and sometimes nothing extra is said at all.

Perhaps I'm missing something in the screen reading optomization/settings
such as view options and such? Is there a step 1, 2, 3 someplace to follow
for a clean sweep? I'd made sure screen size is maximized, and also tried
Windows key left arrow, and Windows key up arrow as well.

Thanks,

Brad

Mike,

Excellent suggestions
The other thing Tom could do if he didn't want to select another
download place is to download it to the default, then when done go
there and cut/paste to the folder he wishes. I just went to the NLS
site and looked around a bit as I have not done so with Win 7 and IE
10. If you tab or arrow around you can find what you need to. You do
need to respond to the info bar with Alt N and then you are golden. If
you don't hear that and respond, I think you are stuck

Hi Tom,

below are steps on how to get sounds working how to assign your
downloads
to go to a folder of your choice in IE 9 10.

In Internet Explorer 9 / 10 there is the option of having system
sounds, as
there were in internet explorer 8. These sounds include a sound when a
download is complete.

By default the system sounds are off. To turn them on:

1. On the tools menu, choose internet options.

2. In the dialog ctrl+tab until you get to the advanced page.

3. In the settings tree view, in the accessiblity group, there's the
item
play system sounds-off. You can quickly move to this by pressing the
letter
p. Press spacebar, and the item changes to play system sounds-on.

4. press enter to press the default ok button.

Navigating to a default download folder:

Using IE9,

When you press enter on a download link;

You will hear;

Notification requires response,

Here you would press alt+n,

Now if you use your tab key, you would see;

Run button,

Save button,

Cancel button.

So, the save button will download the file into the default folder.

However, if you wish to change the default download folder,

You can press,

Ctrl + J, instead of the save button.

Now using the tab key move to the, Options link, and press enter.

Here you will find a browse button so, press the spacebar on it

If you either shift+tab, or tab your way, you will come to a
tree-view,

Now you can arrow and choose where you want your downloads to go.

Hopefully this will get you started,
Take care.
Mike
