These days scanners are quite forgiving and anything on the shelf these days
will be windows 7 or 8 compatible.

I have an HP on this system that is several years old that was given to me
and although it took some work I managed to find a windows 7 driver for it.
Now the Epson I got in 2001 will not work with 7 no matter how much sleight
of hand I try. Fortunately it is on an XP system so no problem there for
now.

I have several of those sound cards among other toys of that nature around
here as well. My guess is that this program you are using actually changes
your default sound card on the fly and JAWS just seems to go along for the
ride for reasons it only knows.

Now for example if you are using win amp and I believe media player has the
same feature available you can change the sound card it uses itself. I'm
thinking if you were to do that then JAWS would stay right where it is
supposed to be without a care in the world so to speak.

This is a work around but I am certain it will do what you want. Just start
your player of choice, change your output and with win amp at least not sure
about media player since it has been so long you might have to close out and
then open the program again for it to play using the alternative card.

Hi dave yes I have a USb sound card. It is not really a sound card as we

The reason for the sound switch program is so that I don't have to go to
control panel, sounds, and switch to the audio engine when I want to go down
stairs and listen to the stereo. And when I am up at the computer I want
sound to come out of the audio connexant in case I go to an internet site
that has a youtube site and need to listen to it. I hope this sorts out any

A couple months ago I'd gotten a Cannon Lide 110 from Amazon for $47 all in.
Nice little scanner. I'm sure there are faster ones, but it works great for
my use. I use it to read mail, make a PDF copy of something, and that sort
of thing; plus with DocuScan from Serotek. I don't use it to scann books,
it doesn't have a document feeder on it. It's just a good clean, easy to use
scanner, and portable too if you're into that. Works off just a single USB
cable. Has four buttons in front PDF, Auto, Copy, and Email.

Hope that helps.

turn shuffle on, the songs are picked from the whole collection. Now we
don't want that because we don't want to hear Christmas songs in the

 winamp
but cant stand it because it puts all kinds of other junk on the computer.
Also when I stop the play list, it doesn't tell me what track is playing.
 Any ideas? thanks

[Blind-Computing] USB sound

2013-03-25 Thread Steve Gomes
I need some advice on a few things. I want to put all of my music on the
computer. Windows 7 64 bit using jaws or NVDA. Will use windows media player
unless any one has a better player in mind. I am going to buy a USB wireless
transmitter and send the music down stairs to my stereo. The question is,
when I plug in the USB transmitter will the sound stop coming out of my
computer speakers. I have a dell computer and the speakers and microphone
connect to the built in sound card. It is a Conexant HD Audio. I want to
have sound on my computer so I can hear jaws when I am using the computer
but when I go down to cook and have dinner want to have the music come out
down stairs from the stereo. Has anyone done this? If so what player did you
use to transfer the music to mp3 format and how did you deal with the sound
situation. thanks
