Re: [Blind-Computing] insert key?
Hi Tom, Yes, the 0 key doubles as the insert key with the num-lock off. The insert + J keystroke only works if you are running Jaws from the system tray. Are you running Jaws from the system tray? If you Alt + tab come across a Jaws window, Jaws is not running in the system tray. Take care. Hi Mike, If Jaws is running from the system tray, then the insert + J keystroke will bring up a context menu of options. If Jaws is not running from the system tray, then the keystroke insert + J will place the focus on the Jaws application window. Re: [Blind-Computing] insert key?
Hi Rick, I just invoked the insert + J keystroke without Jaws running from the system tray i had not ever attempted to press the alt key in the Jaws application window to bring up the Jaws context menu, until now! I guess I hadn't tried it before because I always run Jaws from the system tray. Thank you very much for the enlightenment! This will sure beat the hell out of explaining to someone how to get to the Jaws context menu without running Jaws from the system tray the way I did in the past! You know, alt + tab to the Jaws window. Hot damn! Thanks again, take care. Re: [Blind-Computing] insert key?
Hi Tom, Here is a brief description of the system tray: The system tray is an area of windows that shows icons for running programs that don't have open windows. This way, if it's a program you might need to access, such as the volume control, you can have access to it without a window getting in your way and taking more memory. Very handy. The system tray is accessed with the, Insert + F11, keystroke. Hope this helps. Take care. Re: [Blind-Computing] insert key?
The system tray is where your start button, running applications and system notifications are. This is usually at the bottom of your screen. To access it, get to the desktop by pressing the windows key+ D, then tab which should land you on the start button, tabbing again will get you to the list of running applications where you can use the left and right arrow keys to navigate, tab again and then you will be in the notification area of the system tray where you will find battery, volume and time icons - the icons differ for different users.
