Time to get under the car and find that piece of heat shield that makes me nuts at 2k. Found that. Easy fix. Then I surveyed the bottom of the car. Hmm, not bad. Touch that up there. scrape and coat that over there. Perfect. No holes and just the beginings of rust where something nicked the undercoating. Wait a minute... over there by the passenger footwell... What was this? A jack point? It's all crusty and loose... and there is a hole in the floor under it... Aaaaa! Ok, so just aft of the front tires on an E30 there are these little (3x3 inch) floded steel pads welded into the floor. My passenger one is rotted through. Does anyone make a replacement panel I can weld in, or am I going to have to make this on my own. Also, a little further back there seems to be a similar problem around the drain under the passneger seat. It is all still in place, but it feels a little crunchy under there. At the moment it is just these spots, but if I don't fix them, it is all over. Where do I get replacement steel? -- Joe -- Joseph M.
