Is this for the exhaust camshaft pulse generator? Does anyone have a good
picture of where it is located? Do I need anything other than the O-ring to
replace it?

Thanks, Marc

Heh, that's the intake cam sensor going bad. You should have an
accompanying 800rpm idle (instead of 650). I just replaced mine last
week. You'll need a new sensor (I paid $75) and the o-ring. The
sensors were redesigned some time in late 03, and do look different
than what came out of my car (my exhaust one was replaced years ago
under warranty).

It's hard to see because it's wedged in behind the intake VANOS
solenoid, but if you look at the front right of the head (looking
into the engine compartment), find the solenoid (the 1.25"x3" silver
can) and look in the tiny space between it and the head. That black
plastic thing is it.

- Buy new parts
- Make sure the car hasn't been running for a while (you want to try
and get as much of the oil back into the pan)
- Go under the car and find where the sensor's wire plugs into a
wiring box and unplug
- Unplug and remove VANOS solenoid (need some sort of 30mm
wrench) Make sure solenoid plunger doesn't fall out and go
missing. It will also leak oil from there, so have towels.
- remove bad sensor (5mm allen key)
- oil new o-ring and install new sensor
- reinstall VANOS solenoid, plug everything back in.

I should go back and see if the code is still stored, but my MIL went
out immediately after I first started it.

Alpine CHA-S634. Was going to install in my car, but now need the cash.

Bought for $200+ shipping, hoping to sell for what I've got in it
($200). Will come with the AiNet cable (for alpine heads)

To work with the factory radio, it will need a BMWALP1 adapter,
available from crutchfield for $80, or I will include one, for $80.
With this it plugs directly into the factory head unit wiring (in the
trunk) and actually mounts where the factory changer does (especially
on e36 cars). I have an aftermarket alpine head unit (9835) so I did
not need this adapter.

Good solution for MP3s on factory radio.

Will sell whole package for $285 shipped (touching states).
Guaranteed not DOA. Can also include factory mounts (e36 or e39) for
alpine changers (including carpet covers) and extra magazines - uses
same magazine as stock changer. Email for info.

Thanks,
Peter

I'm selling my extra set of crystal/amber taillights. They will fit any E38
from 1995 - 2001 (they came off a 1999 740i). I bought them to use since I
thought the amber indicators would look better on my Calypso red 7, but I
was wrong.  They are in great shape, come complete with bulbs and sockets;
all you do is plug in. Email for pics.

Asking $200, obo

Andy

Greetings all!

I’m looking to buy an E46 M3 and am looking for the
following combinations. Blk/red or Silver/blue. Are
these combinations uncommon? I’ve found a couple of
blk/red combinations but no silver/blue. I already
have a blk/blk E36 and don’t feel like another blk/blk
combo. The silve/black combo doesn’t do much for me
either. Especially since my g/f has a silver/black
E46 that I drive all the time. I saw the blk/cinnamon
combo but that cinnamon looks like baby food on it’s
way out the baby if you know what I mean. Any
suggestions? TIA!!
