Bah, that was solved years ago by using ducts to the controllers
equipped with Kib*rti hamsterchargers to speed up the air.

So what would the fix be for the crooked shifter?...

The E36 and late E30 four cylinder engines are tilted an additional ten
degrees from the E30 6 cylinder engine's design.

The earlier ones will mate up but the drain plug won't be at the very
bottom and the shifter won't stick straight up.

Barry, thanks for all the info. BTW, did you happen to wonder why I still
had a 320iS around to part out? It was also a Callaway Turbo -- a very fast
one at that. I'm keeping the engine just in case I decide to re-create it
someday ... It was NOT a sleeper, as it had a full body kit and was quite a
looker. But man, it was a fun car! I'm sure we could talk!

Upon further thought, I think it may be a 1980 chassis instead 1983. I
can't currently open the driver's door, and I don't know of any other place
to look for the date of manufacture.

You can get the DOM - or at least the year - from the VIN

Callaway Turbo! Cool! My college room mate was working for Callaway in the
mid 80s. We used to try and "break" the turbo vettes when they were in
development. Led to big things for him - he worked at Cosworth and ILMOR
and currently on the Rusport team. Is Callaway still around?

Wondering if the collective wisdom can help:

On the way home from work the dash display clued
me in on a brake light
failure. Upon checking all three brake lights
aren't working (left, right,
center). Fuses 1 and 15 are fine, I've even
switched them. Bulbs are all
fine.

Thoughts?

I'd written about this a few days ago (and thanks to those who responded)...
but having just attempted a repair that did not go well, I thought I'd ask
again.

The fabric headliner in my E36 is coming down. At the edges in front, and
around the visors. I tried to glue the edges back down using an aerosol
glue... but it immediately soaks through the fabric and makes a sticky mess
you can't work with. Once the glue sets up a bit it's easier to get the
fabric to stay where you want... but still, this is a crap repair... it looks
bad, still isn't sticking everywhere I want, and I'm not sure what's going to
happen to that glue when the heat of the sun bakes through.

Anybody got any better ideas? And is there a glue that comes in a syringe so
I can get some behind where the headliner bulges?
