OK, now I feel like an idiot, probaly because I are 1! I was turning it the
wrong direction. Got the sunroof closed, yeah!

After a few cranks to get it partially closed, I tried the switch, and it works
in both directions. If you open it all the way, it won't go back closed by the
switch, you have to manually crank it a little bit, then the switch works in
both directions again. Anyone?

Thanks,

Hey guys, my sunroof opened fine yesterday, then wouldn't close. I can hear
the switch making electrical click when I push it to open, but not on the close
side. I checked my manual and saw how to close it with the hex key in the
motor, but it won't budge. The hex key was bending! Yes I'm sure I was going
the right direction, I even held up the pic in my Bentley manual to make sure I
got it right. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

I have a late 98 BMW 540 which stalls when warm if the A/C is off, and
sometimes when A/C is on, also difficult to start and let idle without a good
blip on the accelerator when warm. Have changed the Mass Airflow Meter, it was
much better for a couple of days, and then old fault returned. This model does
not seem to have the Idle Control Valve.... I can find some discussions for
this fault, but not for the 1999 on?? models (which I reckon mine is). I have
been to 3 independent BMW workshops, all say 'no codes' Can anyone help?

Regards

Rex

I have an 01 that was doing the same thing.

They do not have an ICV (at least the 01s don't).

What I did was remove the intake hose and gave the TB a really good
cleaning. It was amazingly dirty and my theory was the butterfly was
limited in its movement by the layer of gunk. It has seemed fine since
then, that was 6 months ago.

If it's a 99, it has no idle valve, it's controlled by the fly by wire
throttle motor.

We've seen MAF failures, did you replace it with new?

What are the idle adaptation values? My bet is an air leak, but it
might not be bad enough to set faults.

Group,

Vehicle is a 2001 325i Touring with 5 speed manual and 73k miles.

I have been attempting to troubleshoot a hesitation problem that manifests
itself at lower engine speeds. For example, when pulling away from a stop sign
at a very reasonable acceleration it feels as though the car is hesitating and
not accelerating smoothly. This is a subtle feel until you give it a little
more pedal and the it becomes much more apparent. I would say at roughly 3200
rpm or so the engine seems to smooth out and pull cleanly to the upper end of
the tach.

I have also noticed another anomaly in that while keeping a steady state
throttle position at ~2300 rpm the car will occasionally surge forwards for
about 2 seconds as if I had depressed the throttle slightly (though I have
not). During this brief instant the MPG gauge dips and the car slightly
accelerates. Very odd.

If this were an E30 I would immediately think fuel pressure regulator so I did
a fuel pressure test using the appropriate gauge (Thanks Rich!) and all looks
good. A quick inspection of the vacuum lines and intake boot shows no leaks
and the car is showing no codes on the AutoEnginuity.

Any suggestions on the next step? Should I pull the intake tract apart to look
at build up in the throttle body? Bad DISA unit?

Thanks for listening.
