[cayugabirds-l] mockingbird

2013-03-19 Thread Ray Zimmerman
Corner of Snyder Hill and Skyvue in Eastern Heights, NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD
evicts a male NORTHERN CARDINAL from his bush as Mrs Cardinal looks on, then
proceeds to sing quietly (gloomily?).

[cayugabirds-l] PF Goose - AM update

2013-03-19 Thread tigger64

I know there are people looking but have not heard anything so I assume the
bird has not been relocated. A few inches of snow fell and roads are messy.
If all else fails one might try to follow an evening roost flight of geese in
the area and get to that spot (possibly Biddlecum Rd at 264) and watch for the
Pink-footed (and White-fronted too) to fly in.

I've added a few photos to Flickr from the last few days. Most interesting was
a discolored (yellow/orange) Herring Gull at the Madison County Landfill.

[cayugabirds-l] Howland's Island Ruby-Crowned Kinglet

2013-03-19 Thread Christopher Lajewski
Thousands of ducks were on the open water of Brooder and Headquarters Ponds.
The highlight was one Ruby-Crowned Kinglet (visual and audio confirmation) in
the shrub at South Winter Pond. I watched it for 5 minutes. It occasionally
flared it's red crest and called out di dit several times. Here is my eBird
report...
