[cayugabirds-l] Osprey on new 5 & 20 disc/saucer

Sun. 3/29/21 My son & I saw an osprey on the south side of #3 "flying 
saucer" along 5 & 20 west of the refuge entrance. How sad to see all the 
former, familiar nests totally gone.

It's reported Os in FL have accepted these contraptions so let's hope 
"our Os" also will.

 3/22: 3 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were found in the Mucklands on Rt. 31 west
of the Seneca River.

 3/25: A SORA was found at Guy Baldassarre Marsh. An early SAVANNAH
SPARROW was seen on East Road.

 3/27: 2 early GREATER YELLOWLEGS were seen from Carncross Road. 3
SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen from VanDyne Spoor Road.

 3/28: 2 SANDHILL CRANES were seen from East Road. 19 more were seen at
the Visitor’s Center.



Cayuga County




 3/23: A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen from Barker Road west of Rt. 104A. A
COMMON REDPOLL was seen at the Sterling Nature Center.

 3/25: A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen at Fair Haven State Park. 5 FOX
SPARROWS were seen at the Sterling Nature Center.

 3/27: A SANDHILL CRANE was seen from the Sterling Nature Center.



Onondaga County




 3/22: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at Three Rivers WMA north of
Baldwinsville.

 3/23: 12 RED CROSSBILLS were seen at the Morgan Hill State Forest on
Shakham Road. A SANDHILL CRANE was seen at Three Rivers WMA.

 3/24: 2 BLACK VULTURES were seen from the Fiddlers Green Park in
Jamesville.

 3/26: an ICELAND GULL was seen from the West Shore Trail of Onondaga
Lake.

 3/27: A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and an ICELAND GULL were seen at the
north end of Otisco Lake.

 3/28: 2 BLACK VULTURES were seen in flight from Highbridge Road in
Fayetteville. A PINE SISKIN was at a feeder on Lawrence Road west of
Marcellus.



Derby Hill bird Observatory




 5,309 raptors were counted at Derby this week. That number included 21
GOLDEN EAGLES. Also seen were 2 ROSS’S GEESE, 2 CACKLING GEESE, 26 SANDHILL
CRANES and 1 SHORT-EARED OWL.



Oswego County




 3/23: A GOLDEN EAGLE was see from Hinman Road north of Pulaski.

 3/24: An early VESPER SPARROW was seen on Sherman Road north of Mexico.

 3/28: A male EURASIAN WIGEON was seen at the Rt. 6 Wetlands north of
Rt. 3 in the Town of Volney.



Madison County




 3/24: An EASTERN TOWHEE was seen near Perryville south of Canastota.

 3/27: a male EVENING GROSBEAK was seen at a feeder on Jones Road south
of the Stoney Pond State forest.



Oneida County




 3/27: 2 GREAT EGRETS were seen near West Leyden.



Herkimer County
