[cayugabirds-l] Video/audio of Baltimore Oriole

2012-05-04 Thread K. Alice Wood Fox
Hello fellow birders,

It's hard to believe that this video was taken merely two hours before that
massive storm came through Ithaca-it's so clear and sunny!

This was taken in the Commonland Community near the east end of the complex.
The cottonwood tree (Populus deltoides) you see is a favorite of this
particular oriole, and he has serenaded me in my garden for several years
running now.

I apologize for the camera quality-iPhones are great, but can't really zoom! He
is toward the right side of the tree in one of the small v's near the top.

Enjoy!

[cayugabirds-l] Baltimore orioles!

2012-05-02 Thread K. Alice Wood Fox
Hello folks!

Of course, I am referring to the birds and not the baseball team from my
hometown.

While I was at the Tompkins Recycling center yesterday (behind Maine Source), I
saw two Baltimore Orioles in the trees across from the main office. This
morning, I saw and heard the Baltimore Oriole that frequents Commonland
Community's east end. He has a very pretty and distinctive song; it was great
to hear that he's back!

Happy birding!
