[cayugabirds-l] Meadowlarks on Mt Pleasant fields
Spied a Meadowlark pair on Cornell’s Mt. Pleasant fields (off of the abandoned Mineah Rd) yesterday mid-morning. Spring, spring and more spring! [cayugabirds-l] Meadowlarks/flickers
Across from vicinity of 64 Sweazey Rd, Lansing, about 3:30 pm, I saw 3 E. MEADOWLARKS & 3 N. FLICKERS (2 female, 1 male), along with 2 A. ROBINS (pair), foraging in the open grass where the sun had melted the snow! I had 23 species at my bird food/feeders on snowy Monday, yesterday, with a couple hundred individual birds. There were 12 RED WINGED BLACKBIRD females with their red-tinged throats. Had to go buy more bird seed today. [cayugabirds-l] meadowlarks
A month or so ago, there was a question relating to E. MEADOWLARK breeding. Today I saw 2 meadowlark fledglings in a field in Freeville. They are most likely the second brood. The timing is the same as my Yard ROBINS, for their second brood. For reference, on July 18, I noted 1-2 advanced juvenile meadowlarks in a hay field in Brooktondale, with 1-2 adults in alternate plumage. Re: [cayugabirds-l] Meadowlarks
Also in the fields across from the SPCA on Hanshaw road in the town of Dryden, NY You can pull in on the dirt road that goes in to that field where they walk the dogs. Nice place to go anyway. You can follow that road to the Cayuga trail that goes down to Fall Creek. Bank swallows nest in eroded cliffs down there. I saw a kingfisher rattle call and enter into a very high nest hole on a different eroded cliff a little further on the other night when I was walking my leashed dog there. Beautiful day. Enjoy it. Re:[cayugabirds-l] Meadowlarks
Several pairs of Eastern Meadowlarks were active in the fields on the north side of Lake Rd. near Rt.90; approximtely 150 yards west of Long Point Winery yesterday evening. One pair of Meadowlarks had been seen in the same fields for approximately two weeks. Also our pair of resident House Wrens visited our yard for the first time yesterday in Aurora.
