[ccp4bb] Position available: Scientist time-resolved crystallography

2020-12-17 Thread Thomas Ursby

Dear all,

We have an open 2-year's position for a scientist to develop
time-resolved activities at the new MicroMAX beamline at the MAX IV
Laboratory (https://www.maxiv.lu.se/).

_Closing date for applications is Sunday January 17th._

For more information and to apply see:
https://lu.varbi.com/en/what:job/jobID:371045
or contact me at thomas.ur...@maxiv.lu.se

/MAX IV Laboratory has received funding from the Novo Nordisk Foundation
(http:// novonordiskfonden.dk/en) for a new beamline called MicroMAX, a
micro-focus macromolecular crystallography beamline. The Macromolecular
Crystallography (MX) Group is responsible for the design, construction
and future operation of the MicroMAX beamline, as well as for the BioMAX
beamline that is in user operation.//

//
//MicroMAX will extend the possibilities in macromolecular
crystallography in particular in the areas of serial crystallography and
time-resolved crystallography. By exploiting the pioneering performance
of the MAX IV 3-GeV storage ring, MicroMAX will provide world class
performance for experiments requiring a highly brilliant microfocus
X-ray beam. The microfocus beam will be used for highly automated,
monochromatic rotation crystallography, but the unique beam will be in
particular beneficial for time-resolved experiments and serial
crystallography. The time-resolved activity will use a UV-vis-IR laser
setup for triggering of light sensitive samples or using
caged-compounds, ligand-mixing using microfluidics, and other methods
and instrumentation to study dynamics. The sample environment laboratory
and a second experiment hutch are available to support and extend the
capabilities of the time-resolved setup in the first experiment hutch.
We have started developing activities in the field of serial
crystallography and regularly perform experiments at BioMAX./

Best wishes,
Thomas Ursby

[ccp4bb] Registrations is now open: 1st Integrative Structural Biology Symposium, Lund, Sweden, on Nov 19 to Nov 21 (noon-to-noon)

2018-09-20 Thread Thomas Ursby

Dear Colleagues,

A new theme, ”*Integrative Structural Biology*”, has started at the
/*Lund Institute of Advanced X-ray and Neutron Science*/ (www.linxs.se).

We are now _Welcoming registrations to the 1st Integrative Structural
Biology Symposium_ which will be held at Elite Hotel Ideon in *Lund,
Sweden, on Nov 19 to Nov 21* (noon-to-noon). The meeting is free of
charge and the number of participants is limited to 120.

The final deadline for registration is October 25, however as we have
been fortunate to gather several prominent speakers (see list confirmed
speakers at www.linxs.se) to discuss current and future possibilities in
integrative structural biology we expect high interest.  We therefore
urge interested to register as soon as possible (first-comes-first) by
following the link on the symposium webpage:
www.linxs.lu.se/events/2018/11/first-symposium-integrative-structural-biology

The symposium focuses on cutting-edge research in the fields of
macromolecular crystallography, Cryo-EM, small angle scattering,
electron diffraction, mass-spectroscopy, NMR, molecular dynamics and use
of XFELs, and how these and other experimental approaches can be
efficiently combined to resolve structure/function relationships in life
science and medicine.   The target group is academic researchers as well
as researchers from large-scale facilities, health care and industry.

The program is centered around invited internationally leading keynote
speakers and shorter invited talks as well as Clip-session presentations
and round table discussions, and will be an excellent platform for
national and international networking. *Both experienced specialists and
researchers with more recently established interests in integrative
structural biology are expected to greatly benefit from the symposium*.

We look forward to meeting you in Lund in November!

[ccp4bb] MX Instrumentation Scientist Position at MAX IV

2012-11-26 Thread Thomas Ursby

The web link to the job posting below might not have worked when it
was posted but it should work now.
Please note the deadline 28 November for this permanent position.
/Thomas

A scientist position dedicated to MX instrumentation is now open at the
MAX IV Laboratory.

The MAX IV Laboratory is presently operating the MAX I, II, and III
storage rings (MAX-lab) as well as constructing the new MAX IV facility
which will become operational in 2016. At the existing MAX II ring we
are operating two experimental stations dedicated to macromolecular
crystallography (MX) with modern setups including e.g. robotic sample
changer, in-situ crystal diffraction and a humidity control device for
crystal optimization.

The BioMAX beamline is one of seven beamlines within the initial
beamline project at the new MAX IV facility and is planned to be
operational in 2016. The beamline is for high throughput macromolecular
crystallography. With the unique performance of the MAX IV 3 GeV ring
the X-ray beam of the BioMAX beamline will be outstanding.

The beamline project is now entering a phase where a detailed design of
the endstation instrumentation including complementary techniques has to
be worked out and implemented to turn the unique X-ray beam into a
world-class structural biology facility.

The MAX IV Laboratory is looking for a scientist with a strong
background in instrumentation for MX beamlines to work with the
development and design of the BioMAX beamline.

For more information please see:
http://www.lunduniversity.lu.se/o.o.i.s?id=24914Dnr=505428Type=E

Application deadline is November 28, 2012.

SCIENTIFIC ENVIRONMENT
The MAX IV Laboratory is constructing a new facility and the same time
operating the present MAX-lab facilities including two beamlines in user
operation and a crystallization facility. The tunable I911-3 beamline
has recently been upgraded with a completely new set-up including a MD2
micro-diffractometer, a CATS sample changer and a HC1 humidity
controller device. The new facility will include a 3 GeV storage ring, a
1.5 GeV storage ring and a 3 GeV linac injector also serving a Short
Pulse Facility. The construction started this year and the 3 GeV ring
beamlines, including at least one MX beamline, are expected to be in
user operation 2015-2016. The new MAX IV facility is being built next to
the planned location of the European Spallation Source ESS
(http://ess-scandinavia.eu). The MAX IV Laboratory is hosted by Lund
University (http://www.lunduniversity.lu.se/about-lund-university)
giving opportunities for collaborations with research at one of the
largest, oldest and broadest universities in Scandinavia that is
consistently ranked among the world's top 100 universities.
