[CentOS-virt] Simulate Network Cable Disconnect
Hello All, I am having trouble simulating a network cable disconnect with KVM. I would like to test active backup bonding for a switch IOS upgrade in a production environment. Basically I have the VM running on a bridged network which is also tied into GNS3 simulating a small-scale version of the production environment. I have tried bringing down the vnetX interface and the actual virtual network itself (virbrX) with no luck. Has anyone had to do this before/maybe knows some tips? If more info is required about my setup, I can give it. Thanks! Tait ___ CentOS-virt mailing list CentOS-virt@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-virt

Check inode availability as well. If you're out of inodes, you won't be able to create a file. You can also look at your `limit' output. Maybe one of those limits (most possible `filesize' or `descriptors') exceeded. Can try vim -n (won't create swap file.) [CentOS] dhclient.conf being ignored!
It seems that the prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor has decided that dhclient.conf should be ignored, i.e. ifup-eth causes dhclient to be called with -cf /etc/dhclient-$(DEVICE).conf, and then ifup-eth/ifdown-eth wipes the file out each time. Through the use of DHCP_HOSTNAME in ifcfg-eth0 you can specify a host name, but because of the above behavior of ifup-eth other options don't seem to be able to be passed to dhclient. I tried placing supersede ntp-servers into dhclient-up-hooks, but that also seems to be ignored, and my google fu seems to be failing on how to build dhclient-enter-hooks for the purpose (if that would even help). anyone got better suggestions than: a) mod /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-eth to build /etc/dhclient-$(DEVICE).conf combining the options I want. b) brute forcing things with `chattr +i /etc/ntp.conf` -- Todd Denniston Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC Crane) Harnessing the Power of Technology for the Warfighter ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos

Re: [CentOS] question on sendmail.mc file
Using a trap-all user may seem like a good method to prevent spammers from determining what user accounts are on a system, but will also trap legitimate mail sent to an incorrect address (e.g. via a typo on the username). I would only user a trap-all on an entire domain dedicated to the purpose. I have always found that there are better methods to decrease spamming (e.g. grey listing, greet pause, mimedefang). However, if you really need to you coud try define(`LUSER_RELAY',`local:someu...@your.domain') Remember too, that user MUST exist! Just powered up my test cluster and made sure system was up-to-date using yum. Heartbeat started without a problem. Perhaps you have selinux enabled on the system? Can you try disabling selinux? This may sound like a half-hearted attempt to 'repair' the issue, but try backing up your authkeys, ha.cf and haresources on each host and try removing and reinstalling the packages.
