[CentOS-es] Consulta sobre Nombre de la Computadora en la red.
Hola a todos. Mi consulta es la siguiente... Estoy administrando un cluster (Cliente-Servidor) donde el servidor le asignan por medio de un servidor DHCP un nombre y un número de IP, mi consulta es como puedo asignarle un nombre (usando el mismo IP), solamente quiero asignarle el NOMBRE porque cada vez que quiero ingregar con SSH o los usuarios quieren ingresar solamente lo pueden hacer con el Nro de IP porque el nombre que le asignan es demasiado largo y Yo no administro el servidor DHCP y no tengo forma de que le cambien el nombre que Yo quiero. A mi servidor Yo ya le asigné el nombre con el HOSTNAME, pero necesito asignar el nombre al IP para que pueda entrar con SSH con el nombre y no con el IP. Espero que se entienda mi pedido. Hola: Liviana te refieres a que la ISO es más pequeña o que es más rápida? Entiendo que te refieres a la primera. Eso es relativo. Existe una instalación de CentOS netinstall que hace una instalación minima. Hola: Si te refieres a FQDN, es decir, algo asi como: mimaquina.midominio.com y realmente quieres poder acceder a la maquina usando solo el nombre mimaquina sin el dominio lo que tienes que hacer es que la resolución desde la maquina cliente desde donde accedes via SSH (no se si es una maquina Windows, Linux), resuelva añadiendo el dominio midominio.com por defecto. Para conectarme al servidor uso el soft PUTTY y la idea es poder conectarme de la siguiente forma ( nombreservidor.midominio.edu.ar ) y donde lo puedo configurar en el servidor para que me pueda conectar de esa forma ? [CentOS-es] cortafuegos y proxy
Que tal: Tengo una red local, y antes los usuario de la red podian acceder a mi maquina desde su computadora colocando en su navegador el nombre de mi pc, pero creo que tengo un cortafuego o proxy funcionando..como lo soluciono? iptables es el cortafuegos..pero el proxy? En términos generales lo que necesitas es: 1. Configurar el servicio DHCP para que le asigne una IP fija a tu servidor. 2. Configurar el servicio DNS (agregar registro A) para asignar un nombre a la IP 3. Configurar tu cliente para usar como DNS1 tu servidor DNS previamente configurado. Este es un esquema escalable, y te sirve para toda tu red y para todos tus clientes ( Window$, Linux, SmartPhones, Tablets, etc, etc, etc) Si solo necesitas hacer lo que pides en tu PC (windows) la cosa se resume a: 1. Editar el archivo hosts y agregar una linea con lo siguiente: ip.de.tu.servidorhostname hostname.domainname Saludos, Javier. Que tal: Resulta que al tratar de ingresar a otra maquina aplico ssh r...@example.dominio.cl no me conecta y me muestra lo siguiente ssh: Could not resolve hostname example.dominio.cl : Name or service not known pero si pongo la ip me funciona de este modo ssh r...@192.xx.xx.xx e probado en otras maquinas y si funcionan los accessos mediante ssh al aplicar los nombres de dominio.que puede ser? Pues al parecer las dns que tienes asignadas en la máquina desde la que quieres conectar no te resuelven bien el nombre de dominio. Compruebas las dns que tienes asignadas en /etc/resolv.conf en dicha máquina. PD: habilitar el acceso ssh como root no es recomendable por motivos de seguridad... primero fijate si tu pc resuelve el dominio con: host example.dominio.cl Si no resuelve el problema revisa /etc/resolv.conf, ahi debe estar los DNS registrados como el resto de PCs que si pueden acceder. [CentOS-es] Referencia para Nagios - Centos 6
Amigos me he puesto a buscar y segui las minimas intrucciones para arrancar nagios, pero me fallaba dandome el error de: Configuracion validation failed En los log no sale nada, por lo que me quede a ciegas, en internet no aparece mucho, sobre errores en nagios. He visto que se instala se crea el passwd y se hecha a andar y entonces despues empezamos a configurar con lo que necesitamos. BTW, for me there's a difference if I connect my second monitor via displayport or VGA: The monitor isn't recognized automatically if I use the VGA cable. Weird... Found it! It turns out that it's actually the GNOME desktop resolution handling that's doing this, i.e. the setting stored in /desktop/gnome/screen/default/0 under gconf. The problem went away after I simply opened Preferences-Screen Resolution, and confirmed the current setting of 3600x1200 by pressing Apply - after re-enabling the screen. Not sure what the stored setting originally was. I'm quite sure I haven't touched it in a long time, though, so *something* related to its handling must have changed after an upgrade. [CentOS] Raid 5 Q
I have a raid 5 built on an opensuse box that I just reinstalled Centos 6.3 on. Is it possible to rebuild the raid 5 array non-destructively? I have googled on this and have found using mdadm --scan --assemble list of fd devices. Will this do it? What I did ewas the following: mdadm --detail --scan /etc/mdadm.conf and thhis thankfully recreated /dev/md0 and was able to add the entry into the fstab mount the device and see all my data as I left it. Seen this before on openSUSE. If you put a disc in the drive, the errors stop

Hey everyone, Is anybody aware of a /true/ active/active multi-head and multi-target clustered iSCSI daemon? IE: Server 1: Hostname: host1.test.com IP Address: 10.0.0.1 Server 2: Hostname: host2.test.com IP Address: 10.0.0.2 Then they would utilize a CLVM disk between them, let's call that VG disk and then directly map each LUN (1,2,3,4,etc) to LV's named 1,2,3,4,... and so on. That would essentially make both host1 and host2 identical iSCSI targets. So I could hook up 30 servers to each LUN on each host1 and host2 (assuming those block devices had a cluster aware filesystem on them). However, what I wan't to accomplish is true active/active MPIO utilizing the dm driver to combine LUN 1 from both host1 and host2 as a single /dev/dm-0 device in active/active mode. This would allow me to multipath across multiple fabrics, develop true high availability and increase my throughput significantly. Any idea of an iscsi tgtd that supports this? As far as I can tell, none do (that I can find). I know some proprietary vendors have this type of functionality, which may or may not be using iSCSI code (but that's a whole set of arguments for later..). Ultimately, my goal is this. I want to take my existing Ceph cluster, expose a handful of RBDs from it to two iSCSI heads running C6 or RHEL6 or what have you, so I can use my inexpensive storage built on Linux -- for my Windows 2008 machines.
