Those have always reported success (even before I removed the OnFailure option):

[~] sudo systemctl daemon-reload && echo success
success
[~] sudo systemctl status initrd-cleanup

Run "systemctl daemon-reload && echo success" and verify that it reports
success, and not errors.

Check the output of "systemctl status initrd-cleanup" too.

I'd suggest removing ~/.thunderbird/*.default/extensions/ and

Re: [CentOS] Server entering Emergency Shell, but continues fine after pressing Enter

2020-09-11 Thread Quinn Comendant
Update: I found a workaround to prevent entering emergency shell during boot
for no reason. I've simply cleared the `OnFailure=` option for
initrd-parse-etc.service (which was previously set to
`OnFailure=emergency.target`).

Now the server boots successfully without dropping into an emergency shell.

This is a total hack, and I'm a little embarrassed that it's the only solution
that I've found.

As I mentioned earlier, there are no errors printed in the boot or systemd
logs, so I don't know what is actually failing. Well, at least now I know that
it is `initrd-parse-etc.service` that is failing, but I don't know why. Does
anyone know what initrd-parse-etc.service does? Or have suggestions how to
troubleshoot that unit specifically?

Thanks,
Quinn

Hi Phil, ok that's great thanks.
I have a colleague working through vroc/fake raid issues we're having when
using kernel-ml-5.8.6-2.el7.elrepo.x86_64.rpm by switching to linux soft
raid. Also we dont have a supported docker-ce for el8 yet.

I have tried backporting the module to el7 for you as requested at
elrepo, but it is not trivial and so far I've not been able to get the
code to compile cleanly. I'll see if I can have another look at it this
weekend, but I'm not overly hopeful given the age of the el7 kernel.

As others have said, it's never going to appear in the CentOS kernel as
it's not present in upstream in RHEL7.

Hello John & Frank,

We have tried both Centos8 and
installing kernel-ml-5.8.6-2.el7.elrepo.x86_64.rpm but both options are too
"bleeding" edge for our other middleware that still require the Centos
7 3.10.0-1127.18.2.el7.x86_64. Hence the request.

Thanks

According to this webpage: https://mininet-wifi.github.io/sixlowpan/

"6LoWPAN is supported by Mininet-WiFi thanks to the fakelb and mac802154_hwsim
module. Both modules have been developed to support 6lowpan, but
mac802154_hwsim (which is supported from Linux Kernel version 4.18) is
gradually replacing fakelb."

Since Centos 8 is on Kernel 4.18, maybe it's already native there.

Doesn't help the chap with Centos 7 though.

If that module is not part of red hat Enterprise 7 then it will never be
part of CentOS.

Is it possible to add the mac802154_hwsim module to CentOS Linux
(3.10.0-1127.18.2.el7.x86_64) 7 (Core), so that its part of the OS?
