Re: [CentOS-docs] CentOS 6 Documentation

Hello all. I'm wondering when the release of version 6 documentation
might be out, or if the shift is to the wiki pages for this
information. When going to: *https://www.centos.org/docs/ *I don't see
 6 listed.

Just to bring that one up again: I'm still looking for a sane toolchain
to edit/diff and patch XML files.

What I do have currently have is a set of automated tools to
programmatically turn Upstream's documentation into something that looks
more like CentOS documentation.
The main problem is that all the docs have to be reviewed and we will
have to edit some of them.

What I need is a way to keep track of the editing that has to be done to
turn the automatically processed upstream-docs into real CentOS
documentation with the upstream references removed and/or updated. From
time to time I had been looking around for a tool helping with that. If
you (or somebody else) has a good idea just tell me.

The processing chain I originally planned is:

1. Upstream XML Docs + XSLT - CentOSified XML Docs
2. CentOSified XML Docs + XML-Patches - CentOS XML Docs

Part 1 is 99% done. The XSLT may need a few additional tweaks, but is is
basically there (and has been for around two years now...)

Part 2 is completely missing due to a lack of the right tools, time and
knowledge.

The stage at which %u needs to be evaluated in this case is before the

You have to use %U instead of %u - this is not a security issue as

[CentOS] CentOS 6.2 x86_64 + PHP 5.3.3 + Zend Guard Loader v3.3 == Segfault

2012-07-20 Thread Andreas Rogge
Hello everyone,

I've got issues getting Zend Guard Loader v3.3 running.

Tried several installations, doesn't work for any. Once I install Zend
Guard Loader my PHP CLI binary starts to segfault *at exit*.

Same is true for apache processes with mod_php enabled: Works until you
SIGHUP your apache processes. Doing that your webserver quits with a
segfault.

Can anyone reproduce that issue? Does anyone know a way to work around it?

Thank you very much!

Regards,
Andreas

[CentOS] How to create a tun-device with CentOS packages only?

2009-08-17 Thread Andreas Rogge
Hello List,

I've got a somewhat weird question. Let me tell you what my intent is first:
We're running a set of Dell boxes with CentOS 4. Some of them use
OpenVPN. As we need to monitor the system status of these boxes, we use
the Dell supplied OMSA package. As it turns out, OMSA totally breaks if
you've got one or more tun devices configured.
AFAICT Dell denies support with that issue, because OpenVPN is a
third-party add-on.
Now instead of discussing with Dell for hours, I'd like to reproduce the
issue without OpenVPN which brings me to my question:

How can I create a tun device without using any add on packages using
only software contained in CentOS?

Andreas

Not at all. The omcliproxy binary from OMSA starts to segfault once
there is any tun netdevice. If I destroy the tun devices, it works fine
again.

So to get a clarification, because I am dense. Do you need to have the drivers
insmoded or just have the /dev entries to make OMSA crash?
Neither, I can have the driver loaded and in /dev/net/tun. The problem
only arises once you create a tun-device (i.e. openvpn --mktun --dev
tun1) and vanishes when you remove it again.

Remember your request was to find a supported config that causes OMSA to not
 work, so they fix it.
I finally found another way: it also fails if there's a ppp device, so
it can be reproduced with supported stuff: Call pppd, call omreport
and see it die.

Thank you for your help!

Re: [CentOS] postfix and mail origin checks

2009-07-29 Thread Andreas Rogge
 hi,

Whats the 'robust' way to make sure email to a specific destination is
only accepted if it came over the localhost:25 or /usr/sbin/sendmail
route ? anything else should get a 5xx error. Emails to other
 destinations should remain unaffected.

I guess you should need to configure two incoming variant in master.cf,
so you have one smtpd listening for localhost and one on the real ip.
For the one on the real ip you just set a recipient restriction that
disallows your specific destination (directly in master.cf itself).

I didn't test, but it should work.

Andreas

Re: [CentOS] potsfix keeping mail in queue on delivery error

2009-07-27 Thread Andreas Rogge

 Hello,

Our mail server is running CentOS 5.3. I configured postfix with maildrop as
the MDA. I had to deal with a strange issue : a user
sent an email to an alias, which resolves into several internal addresses.
One of these addresses had its mbox filled up (reached
the mailbox_size_limit); so maildrop reported a 0x19 error code to postfix,
who kept the mail in its queue, and repeatedly resent
the email : thus every member of the alias list received many copies of this
email, except of course the one with the filled mbox.

Is there a way to configure postfix so that it does not resend the
email to the recipients who do not report any error ?

We run Postfix + Cyrus and a some of our users are often over quota.
Using virtual alias maps in postfix for aliases, leads to the following
effect: the mail is splitted by postfix and then requeued for a evety
recipient of the alias (not the alias itself). If submission fails (e.g.
over quota), then the mail stays in the queue and submission is
retried regularly.
As the mail was already splitted before the submission attempt to the
mailbox, only the mail for the mailbox that's failing is kept in the
queue.

Hope that helps...

Regards,
Andreas

A port 1024 for SSH? Actually that means that if your sshd dies every

Of course, there is still the host key. However, AFAICT most normal
