It is not the first time you come to the list with questions about
shell scripting, and most of them very basic. So, what I really
recommend for you now is this:
 http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=learn+shell+script

I want to bind all the out puts of them in one file

Read my previous post about using redirection more efficiently:
 http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2009-February/071813.html

then read this file and mail it to user account

 man mail

You will only learn if you try. If you really try and it still does
not work as you expect, and you have more specific questions, please
post them to the list. When you do, please use more specific subjects.

 HTH,
 Filipe

It doesn't matter if its in resolv.conf you don't seem to have a
 working DNS provider.

If all else fails, then you can use opendns.com - they provide their
 services for free!

I second that recommendation. I have been using OpenDns.com for about
six months now. Eliminated all the problems we had, when the DNS
servers at our ISP were down or slow.

First, the '\' characters are unnecessary and confusing, except the
  one that precedes the semi-colon.

Second, that won't work. Sed does not perform on files in place - its
output is sent to stdout unless it is redirected, and you can't
redirect it back to the original file. To do something this way,
you'd need a script that replaced the input file and used 'sed' to

Yes, that is the right way. But one point that was not clearly made is
that you probably ALSO need to add to your apache configuration:

  PassEnv ORACLE_BASE ORACLE_HOME [etc.]

This make the values available to PHP.

Or you could add those environment variables in /etc/profile.d, create
a file called oracle.sh and put those environment variables there, then
in /etc/httpd/conf.d create a file called oracle, and add the PassEnv
 directives there.

At least this way the environment variables are available to all
 local processes and users.

I've run into this... the OCI component needs some information about

you upgrade the Apache RPM, you don't have to worry about your startup

Which completely circumvents the usual process for starting up apache,
and will be wiped away with a simple 'service httpd restart' or even
better (the weekly logrotate), and require you to reboot the machine
or call your script again. That might not be the *best* solution.

Ian's previous post about setting variables in /etc/sysconfig/httpd is
correct. Define the vars in /etc/sysconfig/httpd, and make sure you
 export them there.

This is the intended use and the 'redhat' method.

well, if you configure your disks to enable SMART, it can provide advance
disk failure information. if the disks are on hardware PERC raid, then you
probably cant use SMART, and instead would use whatever RAID controller
 monitoring software dell provides...

 otherwise,, um, like any service,...

   # chkconfig smartd off
   # service smartd stop

will disable it from running on the next boot, and stop it now.

upgrading your Perl version as well (which is not allowed by default).

To determine if you have File::Find already installed (which you
 should), do this:

 perl -e 'use File::Find'

If that runs without errors, it is already installed and you don't have
 to worry about it.

Yes, we are using it on many servers with no problems. We are also using
custom made RPMs with oracle-client and oci - the same story there, no
 problems.

Okay, If I'm reading this right, you built a separate apache apart
from the one shipped in the distro, as well as a separate mysql. Is
this correct? Why did you do this? Also, why install mysql at all if
 you're using oracle?

During the boot process you may see the message Memory for crash kernel
 (0x0
to 0x0) notwithin permissible range appear. This message comes from the
 new
kdump infrastructure. It is a harmless message and can be safely ignored.

Please search at least the wiki before posting questions...

cat /var/www/html/htdocs.tar.gz

with rsync and the to have it in the crontab to run everyday.

rsync over ssh is good for network copies as it preserves permissions
 nicely if you ask it

I am a bit hesitant to suggest this, but Oracle has already built
RHEL-compatible php packages, including php-OCI8. You can find the files at
http://oss.oracle.com/projects/php/, built for both RHEL 4u6 and RHEL 5u1.
The php-oci8 package depend on the Oracle Instant Client (also available as
RPMs), which means you don't have to do a full Oracle install unless you
 need the actual database server.

I have used them under CentOS 5u2 with good results, but be warned, they
will be NOT supported by Red Hat, Oracle, or CentOS.
