[CentOS] aide updated packages

2010-03-22 Thread ceejay cervantes
Any news on the latest aide package?

Current version of aide on CentOS 5 is aide-0.13.1-4.el5. This version of aide
produces the following message on /var/log/messages aide: Libgcrypt warning:
missing initialization - please fix the application when executed. Upstream
already has released aide-0.13.1-6.el5 last January. I only see this version on
the CentOS5 testing repo http://dev.centos.org/centos/5/testing/SRPMS/

regards,
Ceejay

Hi;Since I decided to yum remove openssl, genius that I am (not!), I managed
to screw up the OS so badly the server co. had to rebuild it for me :-) These
good people backed everything up very well, so the damage was minimal. Now I'm
trying to rebuild MySQL. I did the yum install mysql no problem. However...

[r...@13gems old]# /etc/init.d/mysqld start-bash: /etc/init.d/mysqld: No such
file or directory
What do? Also, where is the data usually stored? The server co. backed that up,
but I don't know which file it would be.
TIA,Victor

Default data directory is in /var/lib/mysql
You can check also the datadir=? in /etc/my.cnf

No it isn't.

Use priorities (newer) as it allows more flexible control
over protectbase (older).

Other then that your configs look fine.

Just for the record, basically protectbase is priorities with only 2
settings (0 and 1)

So, if you have both installed, protectbase will override the priorities.

So, you should pick one or the other, but not both.

Subject: [CentOS] Mounting cifs shares by non-root users on CentOS 4.6

I'm trying to set up mounting of a Windows share for non-root users via
/etc/fstab on a CentOS 4.6 box - I've followed the instructions at:

http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/WindowsShares

Using something like the /etc/fstab example given in the wiki page
(with, of course, using a valid share, username and password for my set up):

//winbox/getme /mnt/win cifs
user,uid=500,rw,suid,username=sushi,password=yummy 0 0

When as a non-root user I do:

% mount /mnt/win
mount error 1 = Operation not permitted
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs)

Running mount as root works fine, but I can not get it to work for
non-root users.

Any ideas?

Thanks
