I don't know about anyone else, but in no way would I use Bind9 and DDNS

success with DDNS and Bind.

[CentOS] web content process and sloooww firefox

2017-06-26 Thread Michael Hennebry

Today, for the first time, I noticed a process named "Web Content".
I was running top because firefox was once again not allowing me to scroll.
Having been down this road before,
I would normally have just closed and reopened firefox.
I needed to do it fairly often.
Web Content was new.
Eventually, I discovered "electrolysis" (why that name?) and the schedule:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Electrolysis#Schedule_and_Status ,
but I'm not sure how to read it.
What the heck is "riding trains"?
My firefox is 52.2.0 64-bit.
yum.log says it was last updated on the 16th.

As is unusual, I had a pretty good idea which tabs were
using up the CPU, so getting scrolling back was not too hard,
but my usual close and reopen did not work.
Is this a new "feature" of firefox?
Will close and reopen consistently fail to resolve CPU-burning issues?
Will I have to go on a tab-hunt every time?

Re: [CentOS] test builds on private server updates (kernel)

2017-06-26 Thread Andreas Benzler
Sorry Hughes,

got some questions.

I have the feeling that I do a lot wrong. Today I sent a mailing post
at fedora where it is also about btrfs under fedora.

In time when i write the mail i forward it my patch for fedora 25
pretransaction & snapper.yp, with the hope of feedback.

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject
.org/thread/NLFYHW3IEJHSFBUOEAVHDHBVTL7TOHYZ/

Sometimes I don't know where to push the information.

on https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/andybe/CentOS7Python34/

I release a ticket because snapper gui do not build on there repo.
Local with mock or without it never fails. No response.

Since yesterday learned how to use snapper against the dbus api. What
is the better way in my opinion. After some rest i will do it first on
centos and it back into fedora "dnf" later on.

It looks to me as if in a Fedora release little movement. If someone
wants to upgrade something you simply move it there gladly times on the
next release. This generates a high unwilling something at all a
working release to submit an improvement. This is a lot better under
Centos, although Redhat is very slow with its update cycles.

Too bad the feedback is not as good as under Centos.

In principal there are to many ways to push errors or improvments on
each (centos, redhat, fedora) distros.

Or am I doing something wrong. Is there anything I can do better?

It is hopefully not that I care 3 various Linux (This time
Arch/Manjaro, Fedora, Centos). It helps to get ideas.

Thanks for advice.

Sincerely

Andy

Re: [CentOS] [OT]multi-master DNS

2017-06-26 Thread James A. Peltier
Bind does not have a method to do multi-master replication. All updates must
be done via an intermediary service (database).

In our case, we've used containers and Consul for providing a highly available
DNS service. A container will fire up and race for the master lock. It will
dump the contents of the database into its named configurations and assuming it
has the lock will assume the IP address of the master. Others just come up as
slaves.

If the master lock is not renewed after a given period of time another
container can acquire the lock and become master by assuming the IP address of
master (VRRP/VRID/KeepAliveD)

Estimados,

Nose si me falta
alguna configuracion adicional.

localmente.

Si no funciona localmente, haría lo siguiente.
1) Deshabilitar el firewall.
2) Deshabilitar SELinux (¿o dejarlo en modo permisivo?)
3) Verificar que es el puerto adecuado. Por default MySql usa el 3306. Tu

Xen 4.6.3-15 packages for CentOS 6 and CentOS 7 are on their way

in a few hours, and in the main mirrors tomorrow morning (God
willing).

These contain several critical updates; users are encouraged to update
as soon as possible.

There are also Linux kernel changes in XSA-216. They apply cleanly to 4.9.31
and presumably also 4.9.25.

Empecemos por lo básico:

Puedes hacer ping de Centos a Windows?

Estimados,

Nose si me falta
alguna configuracion adicional.

[CentOS-virt] Loss of DHCP destroys bridge

2017-06-26 Thread Ken Bass
I am having trouble with recovery. Today due to electrical work I
powered down my networks Router / DHCP server.

My Centos 7 host machines lost their DHCP lease (they are actually
static leases). Once I power my Router / DHCP server back up none of my
virtual machine were accessible. It appears that when the DHCP lease was
lost on the virt server the bridge of the KVM guest were all losts. A
'br show' had none of the guests anymore. So each guest was sending out
DHCP requests as expected but since the guest was no longer bridged the
packets went no-where.

How do I handle proper recovery from this?

The sequence on the host seemed to be:

07:00:00 I powered off the DHCP server and router for electrical work

Jun 26 10:08:02 vm-server dhclient[973]: DHCPREQUEST on br0 to
192.168.2.1 port 67 (xid=0x7627186d)

requests continue for quite some hours and then NetworkManager chimes in.

When I powered back on at:

None of the bridges that NetworkManager decided to detach were restored.

Is this the case of being bitten by NetworkManager once again? Not sure
why I am running it other than it is the default and I don't remember if
it is responsible for setting up the bridges.
