Sounds like a good idea. Perhaps an expansion of the GettingHelp wiki
page is called for - and overdue. So a general 'ask a sensible question,
get a sensible reply' document would be very cool to have.

Thanks for taking this effort up.

Hi all,

Akemi and I have recently been drafting a few posts for a new forum
subsection (Readme First FAQs) to aid new forums members in getting help.

Apologies, for those that have no idea what I'm talking about because
they can't see it, I'll get a temp copy up on the Wiki in a bit :)

Good idea - I was trying to think where that content would logically sit
on the Wiki.

2008-05-17 Thread TAIRA Hajime

Hi all.

I want to add a following to tips.
Please give me write permission of http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks.
I think that I write it into Troubleshooting.

[titie]
How do I re-install bootstrap(GRUB).
[/title]

If you repaired your system from backup tape by dump or tar.
It cann't repair bootstrap area.

Please do following steps:

1. Boot from CentOS installation disc.

2. Please type linux rescue at boot: prompt.

3. Mount all filesystem by read-write mode.

4. Change root to real root('/') on your harddisk.
# chroot /mnt/sysimage

5. Re-install bootstrap code (GRUB). (ex. If you install to MBR.)
# grub-install /dev/sda

 That's all.

Best regards.
