I have added an acl to the

also added you to the EditGroup (as "JefroOsierMixon"). Hopefully that

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for offering to assist with the Spanish translation of the wiki.

I have added you to the Spanish translation group and so you should
now have the ability to edit pages within the wiki.centos.org/es/
directory structure. I am assuming that you have created your wiki
login as DanielAguilar, as specified in the relevant section of the
"contribute" page. [1]

Perhaps the first thing you might like to do is to ensure that the
current Spanish pages are up to date when compared with the English
versions?

Sorry for the delay in responding.

A home page has now been initialised for you as
https://wiki.centos.org/ZachVargas and you now have edit access to the
CentOS wiki https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/I_need_the_Kernel_Source
page.

With regards to the latter, Akemi and I have been maintaining it for
something like ten years. Just occasionally something gets missed and
once we have been told about the deficiency, a correction would be
made. However, we are now happy to have your assistance.

Sorry for the delay.

You should now be able to edit pages in the Korean section of the
CentOS wiki. It would be good idea for you to make contact with the
other translators, so as not to cause a conflict in the translated
pages.

Hello Norberto,

Thank you for offering to help with translation of the wiki into
Brazilian Portuguese.

There is just one slight problem with your username. You have created
it in all lower case letters but it is necessary to have it in
FirstnameLastname format. Please take a look at Section 3 of the
"Contribute" wiki page. [1]

Once that is done we will then be able to configure things so that you
have editorial access for all Brazilian Portuguese pages.

the raw text of that page by:

 https://wiki.centos.org/Download?action=raw

Copy the content from there. Then create your ru page by:

and paste the saved content there (except for the #acl line).

Let me know if you encounter any issue.

I have already initialised the ru/Download and the ru/Search pages.

(Apologies for the potential duplicate post. My initial post had a smashed
subject line. This post only adds the subject and this note.)

I would like permission to edit this page. The changes I have in mind are:

 1) It is not necessary to burn a CD/DVD to do a headless install in cases
where the installed system has a monitor, but for some reason cannot support
a graphical install directly. This can be caused by: a server that has too
little memory to run a graphical install, or running the install in a virtual
machine where the install does not work properly in the virtual machine
console because the display is too small and controls are not shown.

One situation where I ran into this situation was doing an install of 6.5 on
very old server hardware. The text mode install did not allow me to preserve
partitions, and it was critical to preserve the /home mount to avoid data
loss. I had to run the graphical install, but the only way to do it on this
hardware was to do a headless install. I was thankful for the page because
it helped me figure out how to do the headless install even though I didn't
need to go to the trouble of making bootable media. It seems potentially
beneficial to make notes that help others also learn how to do it without
burning media if this could solve their issue.

Also, just last week I tried to perform a graphical install CentOS 7.1 in a
VM under ESXi 6. The install started out okay, but soon reached a point
where installer windows/panels and controls did not fit in the console
display. While one might try to use TAB to select hidden controls, it was
unsafe to do so because one could not even see the controls that needed to be
manipulated. As I didn't know how to cure the console size issue during
install, it seemed logical to use a headless install method to get a higher
resolution install console via a VNC viewer. This might have worked except
 that:

 2) The instructions given do not work for CentOS 7. Something has changed.
At this point I am still trying to figure out if the problem is simply a
matter of changed kernel options, but after trying many things for a couple
of days, it is clear that at least 7.1 does not work. At the very least, the
page could be improved by documenting this difficulty with 7. I did find a
lead tonight that might allow me to proceed with 7, but I haven't tested it
yet. If it works, then the edits would document changes key to making the
 process work for 7.

The proposed edits would show how to invoke a headless install by editing
kernel parameters at the initial install menu on the console. Obviously this
is not a true headless install, but since it can be used to advantage, and
as it is A LOT simpler than burning a CD/DVD, I feel the changes would help
others that find themselves in the situation I was in.

I am proposing to do the in
http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/VncHeadlessInstall though if it is felt
that it is better to have the content be on a sub-page (due to the fact my
edits involve using the console), I am amenable to doing that also.

 My wikiuser is: KevinBulgrien

I have not created my user page at this time, but would plan to follow the
editing guidelines and set it up if I am approved to make these changes.

Thanks for your consideration of this matter.

 Kevin Bulgrien

 Subject: request for wiki access

Hi, my name is Jason Brooks (uname jasonbrooks).

My contributions will be around the Atomic SIG.

The atomic wiki page is at: http://wiki.centos.org/Atomic

 Regards, Jason

I'm sorry, it looks like that you were ignored late last September. I
don't know if I was then currently involved . . .

You should now have edit access to that page once you have (re)created
your wiki account using the standard CamelCase format: i.e.
JasonBrooks

Once that has been done, would you also require a home page?

 Thanks Regards,

I suspect there is a degree of misunderstanding taking place, which is
causing this confusion. Please allow me to explain.

It is the policy of the CentOS Project not to give unrestricted global
edit access to the wiki due to the problems caused by persons
inserting totally inappropriate material.

A new potential contributor would be expected to briefly mention:

 * which existing page she or he proposes to modify
 * what new page she or he proposes to create

by posting to this list. If acceptable, access will then be given to
one or more pages. Quite often a new contributor will request a
personal home page and then use that to edit prepare new material.

Do you have any specific topic in mind?

 Dear Wiki user,

You have subscribed to a wiki page or wiki category on CentOS Wiki for
 change notification.

The following page has been changed by AkemiYagi:
 http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Custom_Kernel?action=diffrev2=179rev1=178

I know I'm new around here and this is probably a nitpick, but shouldn't the
name of this wiki article be HowTos/CustomKernel, not HowTos/Custom
Kernel? That is, remove the blank space in the name?

Just looking for CentOS community practice guidance, thank you.

Look closely and you will see that the string is actually
HowTos/Custom_Kernel.
