might want to see if these people have anything going on. http://www.bachddsoc.org/ It's a great introduction to Half Moon Bay and one of my better California experiences so far. Re: San Francisco
If you are only going to be in the city, I second the recommendation for North Beach. Eat at Franchinos, go to City Lights and the Beat Museum, all are near the intersection of Broadway and Columbus. If you have time, take one of the sight-seeing trips from Pier 38 or Fisherman's Wharf, or one of the small boat trips out under the Golden Gate. There are few sights more beautiful that sailing into San Francisco, especially if you can time it at sunset. A drive through the Presidio to the coast on the south or the Golden Gate Bridge to the north., Sutro Baths or if you have time, a drive down the coast. The stretch of coast between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz is magic. I've lived in Davenport, which is about 80 miles down the coast, for that last couple of years, but I am currently working on a project on the east coast. If you haven't seen the redwoods in person, take the time. Even the coastal redwoods are awe-inspiring. (Muir Woods is a great place to see them). And although it is not in San Fran, but south in San Jose (just in case your "San Fran" location is actually a little south), the Tech Museum of Innovation has always thrilled. Also south is Cupertino, where 1 Infinite Loop is an actual address (Apple Campus). If you are into nerd travel cred, some other CA iconic tech sites are listed here: http://mashable.com/2010/06/20/tech-tourism-destinations/ On Wed, May 28, 2014 at 6:11 PM, Justin Scott wrote: > > > which part of the Bay Area will you be staying/working? > > The City itself? So I am having an issue where a critical file in my ecommerce app is getting overwritten by an older version after I make changes. The bug causes the user's cart to be emptied after creating a new account. This has happened 10 times after multiple calls to teir two support and removing ftp permissions to the file. Best pizza i had was at a restaurant/casino out in Vegas. I think the guy is famous for his pizza..Puck maybe? I dunno. Perhaps it was just the location and the giddy drunkenness of Vegas, but that singular pie was the best I've yet had. RE: tips to increase e-commerce converions
I would also keep the pages all within the same framework. When I click on a link, it goes to a white page with the text. You want he pages to have the same look and feel so it doesn't look like it is going to a different web site. Eric -Original Message- From: LRS Scout [mailto:lrssc...@gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2014 12:51 PM To: cf-community Subject: Re: tips to increase e-commerce converions The graphic for your navigation is blocky in a few places. The left side gradient goes too far. I would make your bread crumbs smaller and, I don't how, more in line with the rest. I would do something with the layout of the main content. That's a lot of scrolling with no easy way to quickly get back to the menus. Maybe grid it, or put it in an overflowing div. I'd probably do categories and drill down a step further than you do. The item layout page has way too much white space. As mentioned you need larger, high res graphics for the item. I would remove all the link under scores and find a font/color/roll over that works for you. Re: tips to increase e-commerce converions
Agreeing with Tim on all of his comments. I'll add the following: All pages, the white text on the light green background is difficult to read. Pick a font style, serif or sans, one or the other, not both. Execute a site-wide branding scheme: Your "Custom Pet Portraits/Pet Pendants" pages are white with black text, no header/branding, and no footer to speak of except the link back to the home page of the site. Looks kinda like a different site and a wormhole to 1997. The blog looks good, but again, branding. Also +1 on Mama Maureen's Get a Facebook page comment. I'd make your blog and custom pages use the same color scheme as the rest of the site. The more professional it is the more trusting the consumer is going to be. Think about branding, a theme. Re: tips to increase e-commerce converions
The graphic for your navigation is blocky in a few places. I would remove all the link under scores and find a font/color/roll over that works for you. your thumbnails all seem to be very blurry. There's a few products that don't seem to resize and it would be hard buying any kind of art when you can't see a more detailed view: http://www.theartoflovingcatsanddogs.com/art-item/lazwhisker-ranchtexas-tall-kitties-45/index.cfm ^ this one doesn't enlarge for me. You are redirecting to paypal for purchases, but you're requiring them to create an account on your site also? Seems extraneous as a consumer especially since you can glean all that information from the paypal notification. Why do so many conservatives feel it is their right to dictate what women do with their bodies? And why is there just a single woman challenging this? :-\ It's depressing, and happens around the world. It's even more depressing when social studies show that more freedom for women = more progress and better societies. ᧠~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:370520 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm

tips to increase e-commerce converions
So we are FINALLY getting a decent-ish amount of traffic to our site, about a thousand unique visitors a day. But we have only had one sale so far. There was a nasty bug that caused the cart to empty when the user created an account, which i fixed three times, but somehow our host was overwriting the file change. I rewrote the order app and cart to use cfid/cftoken to associate the cart to the user, so that seems to have fixed it for good. Can you wise people of this list suggest changes I can make to the site to get conversions up? My parents are closing on a house and could really use the extra cash right now. Re: Serious question
First you make cake and call it pizza, now you have stuffed pizza? You need to try some real pizza so you'll understand what's wrong with those items. On another note, I brought a friend from Vegas to NYC for some authentic NY pizza and she said it sucked. Not nearly as good as Domino's or Papa John's. . Sandy Springs is one of the uptight suburban areas around Atlanta, and this law is probably to prevent a sex store from opening someplace that some holy roller city councilperson there didn't want it to open. Something similar to this happens about every 10 years in the Atlanta area but it's always overruled. Don't worry about this poor little lady though, there are plenty of options to buy these toys 5 minutes down the road from Sandy Springs. This is (obviously) a test case against the law.
