RE: SESSION Timing out WAY before it's supposed to.
I have an application that stores a variable in SESSION scope ... the application is set to timeout after 12 hours, however, when users login and begin working, after about 10-15 minutes, they get logged out. CFServer is set to hold SESSIONs for 12 hours as is the application its self. There are two settings in the CF Administrator for managing session timeouts: a default timeout value and a maximum timeout value. Are you sure that both are set to twelve hours? Coldfusion 5.0
Hi, I have just finished watching the presentation on Allaire Developer Conference 2000 and I must say I'm very impressed with ColdFusion 5.0! Can't wait to get my hands on it soon. However, can anyone tell me what's the difference between its new ability to have user-defined function and its very own custom tags? thanks roger ~~ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox. I don't know how ColdFusion is going to be implementing it, but from a theoretical standpoint, a function returns a single value. Custom tags are closer to procedures. I imagine you'll be able to use your user defined functions same as you would a pre-defined function, that is in another expression. Re: CFEXECUTE return code?
yup. it's UGLY as sin. But in case anyone is interested, my site allows registered users to upload files to their area. Certain other users are allowed to download those files. Registered users can be trusted not to maliciously upload bad things, but they could inadvertantly upload a virus. So I implemented a virus scan upon file upload. Here's how. There are three components. I wrote a custom tag virusscan.cfm that calls a shell script wrapper virusscan.sh that calls McAfee VirusScan for Linux. (Note: I changed some open into lt; so my email program doesnt eat the HTML) virusscan.sh #!/bin/bash # Scan file ARGV[1] for viruses # outputs results: 0=OK, 13,19=VIRUS, anything else=ERROR /usr/local/bin/uvscan --delete --noexpire --secure - $1 21 /dev/null echo $? RE: Dreamweaver UltraDev 4.0 and Cold Fusion
Haven't had a chance to try UD4 yet, been using DW since version 1.0 and I've loved it and preached the gospel for years. Had I a decent high-bandwidth connection I'd download the new version. I can tell you a few things about UD needs to be stepped up in the code-writing world to compete with CFStudio. 1. Notepad has all the features of the Dreamweaver/UD code editor (sans-color-coding) 2. No tag insight 3. No document tree window for editing multiple docs from the same editor interface. 4. Limited Shortcuts in the editor view A few things I REALLY like about UD/DW (just to even things out) 1. Visual Authoring of complex table output 2. Ability to author CSS/JS in the same environment (yes, you CAN do this in CF, but it's SO much nicer in DW/UD) 3. Extensibility !!! Ability to build custom tools and functions Some things that would be nice to see: 1. Built in XML parser that recognizes standard XML formats (doc book, RDF, etc.) and will output XML files into CF/ASP/JSP pages using CFFILE or comparable functions in the other languages. 2. Built in XSL parser - assign XML elements CSS properties in a visual environment. 3. Support for Fusebox and other CF-related methodologies (CFOBJECTS, etc.) Some of these things may have been addressed in UD4, dunno. By the way, what happened to UltraDev 2.0 and 3.0? Can you really just jump from 1.0 to 4.0 in one version? Sounds a little Netscape-ish to me :) Joshua Miller Web Development Eagle Technologies Group, Inc. I had thought of using Dynamic SQL in SQL Server stored procedures, but hadn't gotten around with playing with it much yet. Can you still return multiple recordsets this way?
