[Chat] Rental house in CV
Our housesitter/petsitter is looking to move to Charles Village (she has fallen in love with CV after housitting for us several times). She just graduated from Loyola and she and three other friends are looking to rent in CV. They need three bedrooms (one is a couple) and are looking to move in July. Their budget is $1,500/month. I told her I'd look out for her in the neighborhood but thought I'd ask around for her to see if anyone knew of any rentals coming open this summer. [Chat] Power company rep
Has anyone else had a guy come around today in a yellow embroided company shirt saying he was with the company who supplies power to BGE? I cannot remember the name of the company he said he was with (I'm on Claritin for allergies and out of it). He said I may be eligible for an eight percent discount off my bill and he needed to see a copy of my latest BGE bill. I told him that we opted out of all paper bills and pay online and he said OK and walked off. Kind of weird... Re: [Chat] Power company rep
They're a wholesaler. Their whole schtick is to sell you a electricity package that's more analogous to a fixed rate with overages cell phone plan than a pay-as-you-use like your current BGE service. They come out because under deregulation, if you buy their package they can force BGE to buy a bigger share of their wholesale power generation. Not to be overly cynical, but I assume these guys have done a ton more math than the average consumer and you're not likely to actually turn any savings in the end on the complicated plans they sell no matter what you pick. -- Rob Carlson [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://vees.net/ On Tue, 15 Apr 2008, Greg Alexander wrote: Has anyone else had a guy come around today in a yellow embroided company shirt saying he was with the company who supplies power to BGE? Thanks, Rob. He seemed like he was on the up and up (not a scammer) but I was still not interested. Thanks for the info! --- Rob Carlson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: They're a wholesaler. [Chat] Sandwich boards
Hi gang, Emile was very gracious to walk me around the neighborhood to place fliers on the sandwich boards as a means of preventing graffiti. Well, I walked by the one at Barclay and 31st and all the flyers were torn off and on one side was scrawled, Praise the Lord and on the other Pray for our Troops. I would suggest that the placement in front of the Baptist Church may not be a good idea. How about back at 31st and Abel? Re: [Chat] [Discussion] Power company rep
This is most likely a semi-legit scam. Yes, they are most likely are a company which can supply you power, but they are hardly the company. The 8% savings is also likely true, perhaps only for a year, but you'll be stuck with a multi-year contract after which point the rates will go sky high. The reason they want to see your bill is to get your account number. This is necessary for them to tell BGE to switch you over to them as your supplier. The only other thing they need is your signature, which they usually get when they say sign here to save money!. I heard of a company going door-to-door like this elsewhere in the north east. Google for IDT Energy to read thousands of horror stories of people suckered into switching... I am not trying to suggest that it makes sense to stick with BGE as your energy supplier. Just don't do it at the door. These guys prey on the fact we all dislike these ever increasing energy bills. -- Eric On Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 11:56:50AM -0700, Greg Alexander wrote: Has anyone else had a guy come around today in a yellow embroided company shirt saying he was with the company who supplies power to BGE?
