Tufts Technology Services and the Tisch Library seek a talented software
engineer to join a professionally interdisciplinary team of software
engineers, archivists, and librarians in developing digital library and
repository software solutions. The systems being developed enable management,
preservation, and online discovery that support the research data and
scholarly, scientific, and creative expression of researchers, instructors,
and students throughout the University. This position's focus is on meeting
the academic needs of Tufts' largest schools, the School of Arts and Sciences
and the School of Engineering, which will require close collaboration with

The Dallas Museum of Art seeks a Digital Collections Content Coordinator for a

and technology teams, the Digital Collections Content Coordinator will create,

Collections Content Coordinator will also review collections metadata records
to improve the quality and consistency of collections metadata across the
permanent collections in accordance with best practices in the field for
collection cataloguing.

Essential Functions:

  * Digitize, aggregate, and author digital content in support of the DMA's 
Decorative Arts and Design collection and in order to ensure quality and 
consistency of collection content.
  * Review of object metadata in the Museum's collection management system 
(TMS) by checking facts, validating consistency, and verifying primary image 
selection.
  * Collect data and information from verifiable sources related to DMA 
artworks.
  * Take direction from the Interpretation Manager in order to achieve the 
critical aspects of an interpretive strategy that fulfills the needs of the 
DMA's online collection.
  * Work with DMA's Collection Database Manager and Imaging Department to 
ensure that collections data and images are consistent, accurate, and complete

  * Participate in ongoing evaluations that integrate visitor research and

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  * Master's Degree in Art History or related field required.
  * Knowledge of and/or experience in decorative arts and design or American 
art required.

digital media role desired.

The Librarian for Digital Publishing, Curation and Conversion plays a leading
role in the presentation of Pepperdine's unique collections and scholarly
output to the world. The Librarian works closely with special collections and
university archives personnel to identify, research, and prioritize materials
for ingest into digital collections, which are powered by CONTENTdm. Following
best practices, the Librarian devises scanning workflows and metadata schema
appropriate to the diverse content in our collections, collaborates with
library staff, and supervises interns and student workers. The Librarian
maintains and expands Pepperdine's digital collections and actively seeks out
and defines new collections based on both digitized and born-digital content.
The Librarian also manages Pepperdine's institutional repository and digital
publications platform, both of which are powered by Digital Commons (bepress).
These initiatives are designed to promote Pepperdine scholarly communications,
and involve a significant effort in outreach and coordination with Pepperdine
administrators, faculty, and students.

  
Duties and Responsibilities:

  
The Librarian for Digital Publishing, Curation and Conversion is responsible
for three key areas:

  * Digital Publishing - Works closely with content creators, editors, 
publishers to solicit, organize, upload, and maintain scholarly content within 
the library's digital publishing platform (digitalcomm...@pepperdine.edu).
  * Digital Curation - Assists in the selection of collections for digitization 
working closely with library and academic personnel; provides narrative 
descriptions for collections added to the digital repository; creates Blog 
postings regarding newly added collections; coordinates and carries out 
description of digital objects with Center for Linked Data personnel; 
coordinates in collaboration with the Library's preservation committee 
preservation of digital content, and develops ways to strategically disseminate 
content to a diverse array of users.
  * Digital Conversion - Manages, oversees and coordinates digital conversion, 
including normalization of content, digital to analog conversion (scanning, 
imaging, and copying) to digital systems and formats following accepted 
preservation and access guidelines, standards, policies and procedures.
  
The Librarian also contributes to the Library's user services program by
participating in subject matter liaison work, and contributes to other digital
initiatives, including iTunes U, as needed.

  
The above information has been designed to indicate the general level of work
performed by employees within this classification. It is not designed to
contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties,
responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to this

Qualifications/Skills: Required: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited
library school; knowledge of current digitization standards and practices;
knowledge of metadata including LCSH, MARC, and Dublin Core; the ability to

Preferred: At least three years of experience curating digital collections in

archives. Hosted at the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah,
along with the rest of the MWDL staff, this position serves the Mountain West
region as a key part of the MWDL Service Hub for the Digital Public Library of
America, which aggregates metadata from partnering libraries, museums, and
archives in six states for sharing both regionally via the MWDL portal at
http://mwdl.org/ and nationally via the DPLA portal at http://dp.la/.

  
Position Details

Research Librarian (non-tenure track career-line faculty) at the J. Willard
Marriott Library, with rank (Assistant or Associate) based on experience and
vote of Marriott Library faculty.

  
This is a three-quarters-time non-tenure-track career-line faculty position
funded for twelve months from the start date. The position will be reviewed
for possible continuation at that time. Continuance of the position beyond one
year is dependent upon recommendation of the MWDL Director, continuing funding
and approval of the MWDL Governing Board, and continuing approval of the Dean
of the Marriott Library.

  
Preferred consideration will be given to all applications received by March
25, 2016.

  
Description of Position

The Digital Metadata Librarian of the Mountain West Digital Library supports
the improvement of metadata standards and metadata in digital collections from
MWDL partners, including memory institutions in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Montana,
Oregon, and Wyoming. Working with all employees in MWDL and reporting to the
MWDL Director, the successful candidate will:

  
• Facilitate the harvest of collections metadata into MWDL and from there into
the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA).

o Perform metadata audits of new collections and spot-check existing
collections for ongoing conformance to standards.

o Work with new partners and repositories to resolve metadata issues and Open
Archives Initiative (OAI) interoperability issues.

o Work with Web Discovery Services team at Marriott Library to execute
ingestion of new collections into Ex Libris Primo. Modify normalization rules
and XSL transformations as needed.

o Coordinate with DPLA staff regarding mapping and ingest of metadata into
DPLA portal.

• Respond to questions about metadata from partner institutions.

• Describe new collections on website and promote them via social media.
Design topic browse pages for website.

• Conduct periodic collection analyses of MWDL and prepare tallies of our
collection coverage and contributors.

• Work with appropriate task force(s) within MWDL Digitization Committee and
with DPLA staff to improve metadata policies and best practices.

  
Additional responsibilities: Assist the MWDL Director with investigation of
new technologies of interest to member repositories and other collection
partners. Participate actively in appropriate professional societies and
report on outcomes and work processes developed at occasional professional
conferences. Other duties as assigned as MWDL grows and develops.

  
Required Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited graduate school or equivalent degree either
completed or anticipated within one year OR the equivalent combination of a
relevant advanced degree and experience working in an academic library.

• Digital metadata emphasis in graduate school or equivalent in work
experience.

• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

• Excellent communication skills and dedication to collaborative team-building
across multiple institutions.

• Skill with using Microsoft Office software suite or equivalent.

• Capacity to thrive in the fast-paced, future-oriented environment of a
research institution and to respond effectively to changing needs and
priorities.

• Demonstrated proficiency and capability with information technology systems
in the context of an academic library.

• Successful completion of a criminal background check, as required by Utah

Preferred Qualifications

Germany and owns an internationally significant Judaica- and Hebraica-
collection. In cooperation with the Stuttgart Media University and funded by
the German Research Foundation (DFG) the library is developing the
**specialized information service Jewish Studies**. This information service
offers a variety of online-services and

focusses to improve the access to literature in Hebrew language over the
period from 1900 to 2010. Implementing the automated transformation process
will enable retrieval of Romanized Hebrew books in the original Hebrew script.

  
The University Library offers the position of a

  
**Computer Scientist (up to E 13 TV-G-U)**  
  
at the next possible date limited for a period of 36 months.

  
Your individual salary will be based on your personal qualifications and the
job characteristics of the Collective Labour Agreement TV-G-U.

  
**Your tasks:**  
  
* technical designing and developing the process of transforming Romanized 
Hebrew book titles and author names into the original Hebrew script 
automatically  
*l establishing a portal of the online specialized information service and 
coordinating and technically integrating the provided services, especially in 
regard to the process of contextualization, implemented by our partner in 
Stuttgart  
* developing the specific methods of data transfer and interfaces, data 
conversion  
  
**Requirements:**  
  
* University degree (Diplom/Master/Bachelor) in Computer Science or a related 
topic  
* excellent knowledge of the Linux platform  
* experience in programming web applications using established frameworks and 
scripting languages  
* knowledge of Hebrew script and language  
* of benefit is the knowledge of metadata formats, Linked Open Data and related 
common techniques (e.g. Vufind/SOLR, XSLT)  
* commitment, ability to work in a team, initiative and willingness to travel  
* good knowledge of the German or English language
