 There's an EPS at

Additional SVG and Adobe Illustrator version can be found there:

A bit easier to do and keep up to date: How about at least keeping a list of
material that is available online someplace public? At Apache Mahout we keep
that list in the wiki so that even people who are not project members can add
their material:

Maybe it's instructive to have a look at how patch origin cleanness and
signoff (similar, though not (i)CLA) is dealt with at the Linux Kernel
project:

IIRC there should be some discussions on the archive of the infra and
community mailing lists that were caused back when the read-only git
mirrors were set-up.

However I agree it would be nice to have one page that summarises the
results of these discussions - especially the problems that various
people saw. That way re-checking from time to time whether these
might be resolvable by additional tooling or a use of git different
from how it was discussed on the lists becomes easier.

Apache Dinner DUS (co-located with FSFE fellowship meetup)

2010-08-17 Thread Isabel Drost

Hello,

the evening after FrOSCon - that is on August 22nd 2010 at 7:30p.m. CEST - a
combined FSFE Fellowship meetup/ Apache dinner* takes place in Tigges in
Düsseldorf (Brunnenstraße 1, at Bilker S-Bahnhof). Given it doesn't rain, we'll
be sitting outside.

Would be great to meet you there for tasty food, interesting discussions on
Apache in general, as well as projects like Lucene, Hadoop or Tomcat in
particular. Anyone interested in either the FSFE or Apache is welcome to join
us.

One personal request: Somehow, Rainer (Kersten, FSFE) talked me into preparing
a
talk on what the ASF is all about - would be really great to have more people
around share their experience.

See you in Düsseldorf,
Isabel

Minor nit: I think CC-By would be more Apache :-) AFAIR, CC-By-SA
isn't wholly compatible with our license?

True. Potentially limits the number of images one can include to
illustrate the presentation quite a bit though - at least judging from
my admittedly limited experience with searching for usable high-res
pictures on flickr.

Sounds familiar. However, as any slide deck should be specially targeted
to the audience addressed, I am not sure official - as in officially
approved - slides solve the problem. However, yes, I would love to see a
repository of slides that are free for re-use, possibly available under
e.g. CC-by-SA.

Two examples of very inspiring talks maybe interesting for your use case
that spring to my mind are Apache behind the scenes and The Apache

Just as an idea - something that works well in Berlin: After noticing
that there are several Apache affiliated people who live in Berlin or
visit the city regularly, we have setup a monthly Apache Dinner.
Everyone interested in Apache is welcome to join. Maybe something like
that might work in Lisboa or Porto as well?

http://blog.isabel-drost.de/index.php/archives/category/events/apache-dinner-berlin

We are recruiting people from various sources: The local java user
group, the Apache Hadoop Get Together, friends/committers/members that
come here for a visit, the NoSQL meetup etc.

[meetup] Hadoop in Berlin

2009-04-28 Thread Isabel Drost

Hello,

I am organising the 5th Apache Hadoop Get Together in Berlin (takes place on
June, 25th). I have been talking to Ross Gardler during ApacheCon EU 2009
about the event - he suggested that I post some information about it here.

Since last year in June we meet every three months. We - that is a group of
about 20 people interested in Hadoop, UIMA, Lucene and related projects.
Details on the event are posted on upcoming.org:

http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/2488959/

In the past year there have been quite a few Apache events (Bar Camps,
Meetups, User Groups etc.). Actually there were so many, I think it would be
helpful to have one calendar*, where all (or at least most) of these events
get posted. I think this list should be published somewhere at Apache.
However, I have no idea where that should be done. Any suggestions?
