[CommunityEngine] Re: rails 2.3.2 compatible?

2009-05-18 Thread Bruno Bornsztein

The Install instructions did not work for me. After getting that
error, grabbing that edge, replacing vendor/plugins/community_engine/
 * with that edge, I got the exact same error again.

Hmm... the installation instructions should work just fine. Anyone else
having this problem?

Will I suffer incredible technical problems for this decision? Besides
the taunts from other Railsters who learn I'm still mired in 2.1.0-
 land??

Well, you just won't be able to upgrade when CE upgrades, so you'll miss out
on bugfixes and new features. Plus you'll using the old Engines-based CE,
while the newest version is Desert-based. I'd strongly recommend starting
out on the latest CE version if you can.

Wow, I got exact same error message as yours yesterday! Still
suffering with it. Have you got it resolved?

Generic advice: Barf out all your version numbers!

 The edge branch is 2.3
 compatible:http://github.com/bborn/communityengine/tree/edge
 The master branch is not.

Hi y'all. I just cut a new site, so I guess I'm on board now!

No matter. I just grabbed community-engine-app, the sample
application, renamed it, and kept going.

(I suspect, when I eventually need to force an upgrade, that this will
work: http://broadcast.oreilly.com/2009/03/upgrading-rails.html )

In general, wish me luck!
