Olivier,

I'm going to bring it up today. It's up to you whether you want to
keep running it meanwhile, but hopefully in the next 2 or 3 hours I
will get it up and running.

Re: [computer-go] cgos server news

2008-08-01 Thread Don Dailey
I would like to thank everyone for their generous contributions for CGOS
maintenance. A lot more donations came in that I expected and I was
very pleasantly surprised.

Dave Dyer agreed to upgrade his server if we could come up with the
difference between what he pays now and the next tier of service which
gives substantially more disk space that we now have. This difference
is currently $180 per year.

Paypal takes out about 3% of each donation plus a few cents, but the
balance in the paypal account is now enough to pay for more than 1 years
worth of upgrades, at the moment it is $257.61.

However a very generous contributor who wishes to remain anonymous
offered to PAY up front for 2 years worth of upgrades which is $360 so
we are all set for at least 3 years. This is in addition to the $257.61
we have received.

These and any future donations will be held specifically for the purpose
of covering the server costs, whatever form that may take in the future.

Again, thank you.

- Don

[computer-go] cgos server news

2008-07-31 Thread Don Dailey
Ok, some news. I'm going to put a donate button on the CGOS website.
We are going to use any donations to help Dave Dyer upgrade his server
(and keep it upgraded) to give us the space we need. Many people have
generously agreed to donate various amounts and this is very much
appreciated, it should be enough to keep us going for a couple of years
or more if everyone follows through.

We will add a 19x19 CGOS on boardspace and keep it running. We thank
Olivier Teytaud for his time and trouble spent hosting a 19x19 server
temporarily for us and I'm sure he will be happy to no longer have to
deal with it. Thank you Olivier!

I believe I fixed the very annoying web page update problem but we will
have to wait and see to know for sure. And in the future we may add
more features to CGOS, I feel a little bit more motivated now that I
won't be having to fight against the space constraints so much.
