Russians optimistic over new IMF loan

MOSCOW (AP) - Russia's former prime minister and Moscow's mayor expressed
optimism Saturday that a new loan deal with the International Monetary Fund
would be successfully negotiated.

Former Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, returning from a visit to the
United States, said he believed talks with the IMF under way in Moscow would
reach a successful conclusion by the end of the month.

Moscow's Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, a favorite to succeed President Boris Yeltsin in
next year's presidential elections, also said he was hopeful a loan deal would
be negotiated.

The government recruited Chernomyrdin to help move along talks with the IMF
because he has long experience with such negotiations and good personal
contacts with IMF chief Michel Camdessus and Vice President Al Gore.

Russia has accumulated about $150 billion in debts to foreign lenders, and is
due to pay off $17.5 billion this year. The government has already said it
can't meet the obligation and is hoping that a combination of new loans and
restructuring agreements will help it avoid default.

Chernomyrdin, who returned Friday night, telephoned Prime Minister Yevgeny
Primakov on Saturday to brief him on his meeting in New York with Camdessus,
the ITAR-Tass news agency said.

Although Chernomyrdin pointed out he had no powers to negotiate, he said his
meeting with Camdessus went well, ITAR-Tass said.

Chernomyrdin was scheduled to meet early Sunday with Finance Minister Mikhail
Zadornov, who is leading the Moscow talks with an IMF delegation, the Interfax
news agency reported.

The Russian economy plunged last August after the government defaulted on some
debts when the country was hit by the global crisis in emerging markets.

Yeltsin, seeking to assure the IMF that the government is taking steps to
restore a sound economy, has ordered a larger state role in Russia's banking
system, Interfax reported.

The IMF mission in Moscow is expected to prepare a report on Russia's economic
condition by March 24, when Primakov is scheduled to meet with Camdessus in
Washington.

1. Medical Privacy Bills Introduced
2. Defend Your Data Privacy Campaign

1. Saying that it is a strong proposal that will accomplish much to
protect the privacy of health care consumers, the American Civil Liberties
Union has endorsed medical records privacy legislation introduced in both
the House and Senate this week.

The Medical Information Privacy and Security Act, sponsored by Patrick
Leahy (D-VT) and Edward Kennedy (D-MA) in the Senate and Edward Markey
(D-MA) in the House, offers the best approach to creating a national policy
for protecting medical records privacy.

The Kennedy-Leahy-Markey bills would create a strong floor of privacy
protection, but would not preempt state laws that take even stronger steps
to safeguard medical privacy. The bills would require an individual's
informed consent before his or her records were disclosed to third parties
except under carefully outlined circumstances, and greatly limit law
enforcement access to medical records.

Take action to protect your medical privacy! Send a FREE FAX to your
members of Congress urging them to support the Medical Information Privacy
and Security Act from the ACLU web site at:

http://www.aclu.org/action/medprivacy106.html

2. Urging netizens everywhere to defend their data, the American Civil
Liberties Union has launched a special website to focus public attention on
the threat to personal privacy through the collection and widespread
distribution of personal data.

The new web collection features several interactive elements, including:

---A complaint form where individuals can spell out their privacy horror
stories.
---A tool that shows individuals just what can be learned about them on the
web.
---A survey and postcard utility.
---Faxable letters to Congress.
---A discussion forum.

The web collection marks the ACLU's increasing efforts to protect
individual privacy in America. "We clearly have our work cut out for us to
derail what has been an endless stream of proposals that attack our privacy
rights," said ACLU Executive Director Ira Glasser. "And although many
believe widespread dissemination of our data is harmless, the ACLU believes
that what they do know, can hurt us."

You can find the Defend Your Data Privacy campaign on the ACLU web site

Please consider sending an electronic postcard to your family, friends and

yearsand I might add on television I saw a leader in the militia

And further, if your husband or son is in the militia, remember - when
they come home, they still answer to their wives if they spend too much

This is the only legal way to quarter troops in peacetime

Ah yes, the notorious girl scouts -- linked with the infamous
campfire girls. Seemingly innocent, they go around selling
cookies. But really they gather information and send it to
their Smoky Bear god. And what about those green uniforms
they wear? Good camouflage for hiding in parks and spying
on tourists. It's all there. It all adds up.

Consider that Col. Robert Baden-Powell, active as a spy in the Boer
War [riding a giant box-kite to observe Afrikaaner positions], had
established the paramilitary training brigade called the Boy Scouts
to prepare British youth for discipline and struggle in WWI, just
as FDR created the CCC [Civilian Conservation Corps] to inculate
USAnian men in the structure and rigor necessary to become armed
forces in WWII. Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are placed in strictly
hierarchical organizations, closely trained in tracking/backcountry/
survivalist skills, then infiltrated into leadership positions in
civilian society. The Girl Guides [in British lands] and Girl Scouts
[in the US] and similar units such as Camp Fire Girls, are obviously
the women's auxiliary to the male-only Boy Scout cadres, programmed
to be supportive of the Good Old Boys, and to provide leadership in
their gender roles. Bob Dole was an Eagle Scout; Elizabeth Dole was
a Girl Scout. The Doles exemplify Baden-Powell's scheme to control
all nations on Earth, stooges for British imperialism, tools of MI5.

As for Smoky Bear: consider that Smoky Bear Nat'l Monument is in
Lincoln County, New Mexico, also known as Billy-The-Kid country,
scene of the Lincoln County War, an insurrection of plebeian dirt-
farmers against feudal/aristocratic cattle barons. Smoky represents
not only the Ranger/Forester paramilitaries that patrol our Federal
lands, but also the forces of order used to suppress insurrection.
The Bear is armed; the Bear will stamp out the flames of revolt;
the Bear will devour you; the Girl Scouts will clean up afterwards.

Can someone explain the constitutionality of this for me ?

It seems to me that:

- If the federal authorities have a constitutional right to exercise their
powers in the state, then the powers of the Sheriff are not relevant.
Accordingly, there would be no reason to consult him.

- Presumably, whenever a federal powers attempts to act they would suggest
their actions are constitutional (even if they are not).

- Ipso facto, there is no reason to consult the sheriff.

Can someone explain if and where this analysis is wrong ?

Finally, isn't it the job of the courts (rather than state employees) to
determine the cosntitutionality of a federal authorities actions ?

 Wyoming Sheriff Kicks
 Feds Out Of His County
From Rich Kuchinsky ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
From The Jubilee Newspaper Vol.9, No.6
 3-9-99

Sheriff Dave Mattis of Big Horn County, Wyoming, said
this week
that as a result of Case #96-CV099-J, U.S. District
Court, District of
Wyoming, he how has a written policy that forbids
federal officials
from entering his county and exercising authority over
county
residents unless he is notified first of their
intentions.

After explaining their mission, Mattis said he grants
them permission
to proceed if he is convinced they are operating within
the legal
parameters and authority limitations set forth in the
U.S.
 Constitution.

The sheriff grants permission on a case-by-case basis
only. When
asked what, if any, repercussions he had gotten from
the Feds, he
quickly and confidently replied, "None whatsoever." He
explained by
saying, "They know they do not have jurisdiction in my
county
unless I grant it to them."

Mattis clarified his position by saying the federal
court had ruled then
state of Wyoming is a sovereign state and the state
constitution
plainly states that a county sheriff is the top law
enforcement official
 in the county.

Additionally, Sheriff Mattis contends that the U.S.
Constitution,
Article 1, Section 8, clearly defines the geographic
territories where
the federal government has jurisdiction. Amendment X,
he said,
states that "the powers not delegated to the United
States by the
Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are
reserved to the
States respectively, or to the people."

Therefore, Mattis thoroughly believes the Feds have
very limited
powers in any state unless the local high-sheriff
allows them to
exercise power beyond that which the Constitution
provides.

"Put another way," Mattis said, "if the sheriff doesn't
want the Feds
in his county, he has the constitutional power and
right to keep them
out or ask them to leave."

Accompanied with other legal interpretations Mattis
stands on the
definition of the world "sovereign," which is defined
by Webster's as
"paramount, supreme. Having supreme rank or power.
Independent:
 a sovereign State."

Mattis said he grew weary of the Feds coming into his
county and
running rough-shod over county residents: i.e.,
illegally searching,
 seizing property, confiscating bank accounts,
restricting the free use
of private lands and other abuses, without a valid
warrant and
without first following due process of law as
guaranteed by the
 Constitution to every citizen.

As long as Mattis remains sheriff he says he will
continue to see to it
that the citizens of his county get their day in court.

Mattis went on to say that, to his knowledge, even the
IRS has not
attempted to seize any citizen's real property, bank
account or any
other private-owned possessions since he ran the Feds
out of his
 county.

Sheriff Mattis emphasized that he is not a radical man.
He said he is
only dedicated to protecting the constitutional rights
of the citizens of

1999-03-14 Thread Lloyd Miller
Title: TribLIVE - Scaife-obsessed man sought him, but took own life - March 14, 1999

Back to
Headlines...

Regional
News - March 14, 1999
Scaife-obsessed man sought him, but took own lifeBy
Richard GazarikTRIBUNE-REVIEW
Last month, Steve Kangas of Las Vegas bought a 9mm pistol, a
bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey and a bus ticket to Pittsburgh.
It would be a one-way trip.

Almost immediately after arriving on Feb. 8, Kangas went to
One Oxford Centre. He walked around inside the towering office
complex for a time, then hid out in a public restroom on the 39th
floor.
Nine hours later, drunk to the point of incoherence, Kangas shot
and killed himself in the restroom - on the same floor as the
offices of Richard M. Scaife, the publisher of the Tribune-Review
and a nationally known backer of conservative causes.
The location was no accident. Kangas, 37, was obsessed with
Scaife's politics; apparently he traveled to Pittsburgh to confront,
and possibly to kill, the man he believed to be evil incarnate.
And he came close to completing whatever bizarre mission he was
on. Scaife was in his office for much of the afternoon, but he never
ran into Kangas.
Late that night, Kangas turned the gun on himself moments after a
maintenance worker found him semi-conscious in the men's room,
according to a police report.
He was carrying a box of ammunition when he died. The pistol was
brand new; he had obtained a permit for it shortly before leaving
Nevada.
The Allegheny County Coroner's Office ruled the death a suicide.
Six days before he died, Kangas posted a message with an Internet
discussion group blaming Scaife for all of President Clinton's legal
troubles.
Clinton is, in my mind, a moderate Republican, and it is
only the insanity of Richard Mellon Scaife that is causing them to
go after this man, Kangas wrote.
Scaife has been a frequent target of the left during Independent
Counsel Kenneth Starr's investigation of Clinton. The White House,
other Democrats and some liberal media have accused Scaife of being
the financial force behind what Hillary Clinton called the
vast right-wing conspiracy to remove Clinton from
office.
Unfortunately, Kangas bought into it all.
On his World Wide Web site, which he titled Liberalism
Resurgent, Kangas wrote that Scaife and other wealthy
conservatives are the overclass, and he accused Scaife
of having connections to the Central Intelligence Agency.
He called the conservative movement a smooth flowing
organization of advocacy groups, lobbyists, think tanks,
conservative foundations, and PR firms that hurtled the richest one
percent into the stratosphere.
The origins of this machine, interestingly enough, can be
traced back to the CIA, Kangas wrote.
Scaife wasn't the only target of Kangas' scorn. His writings were
also critical of The Washington Post and its publisher, Katharine
Graham, former editor Ben Bradlee and Deputy Managing Editor Bob
Woodward. Even the Knights of Malta and various foundations not
linked to Scaife came under attack.
Kangas also considered Arthur Hays Sulzberger, publisher of The
New York Times, part of the CIA-directed conspiracy.
Kangas was himself a former intelligence agent, according to his
Web site. A Russian linguist, he served in the U.S. Army in Berlin
during the 1980s electronically intercepting and translating
communication traffic of East bloc military units.
Journalism is the perfect cover for CIA agents, he
wrote in one of many lengthy diatribes against the right. He
believed that the news media provided the perfect cover to
write anti-communist, pro-capitalist propaganda when
needed.
He included Scaife in that group, he wrote, because Scaife's
father, Alan, served in the Office of Strategic Services during
World War II. The OSS was the forerunner of the CIA.
Kangas' writings conveyed a sense of frustration. He tried
unsuccessfully to

I am very interested. I wish you had said that in your first message!
I am familar with various "N" machines (Trombly/Kahn, Tom Valone,

Robert Kincheloe (formerly of Stanford) on DePalma's Generator.
I would be excited to glean all you know and have seen on the subject.
Is the Sunburst Homopolar Generator the device you witnessed?
Does it perform according to claims? Please elaborate.

[CTRL] Joseph Newman-Suppressed Electromagnetic Technology

1999-03-14 Thread Gavin Phillips

 -Caveat Lector-

Joseph Newman by Gavin Phillips

As I said earlier regarding the AE program on 'Conspiracies', the most
interesting segment was on the electro-magnet machine made by Joseph Newman.
As it says in this article, over 30 scientists have testified that it works.
Once again you have the myopia of mainstream science saying it's impossible
for it to do what Newman says it can do, which is to produce more energy than
is put into it, because this contravenes a supposedly immutable law of
science.Of course many things were previously thought to be impossible which
later turned out to be achievable.

This is atypical of the type of tunnel vision and lack of curiosity which is
all-pervasive in mainstream "science". This view was was epitomised by one
"scientist" for the patent office who said, parahprasing, he knew the machine
couldn't work because it contradicted a known law of science. But this
establishment drone's curiosity wasn't piqued in the slightest to even visit
Newman to see for himself. These people are so full of their own intellectual
arrogance and self importance that to even consider something outside the
status quo is akin to accepting witchcraft. They have totally lost sight of
the fact that sciences job is to INVESTIGATE. As Emmerson said, "Condmenation
without investigation is the height of ignorance." Gavin.

Dear Congressman/Senator _

As your constituent, I am very concerned over the treatment by our
Executive and Judicial Branches of government regarding inventor Joseph
Newman.

Over a period of more than two decades, Joseph Newman has sought to bring
forth a new electromagnetic technology which will revolutionize our access to
energy and provide all Americans with the opportunity to use inexpensive and
abundant energy alternatives.

As our legislative branch of Government, Congress retains the original
power to grant patent protection to inventors, a power which Congress
normally assigns to the Patent and Trademark Office (executive branch).

But just as the Patent Office refused to issue a patent to the Wright
Brothers and fought against these courageous inventors for many years, the
Patent Office has also failed in its duty with respect to inventor Joseph
Newman to provide him with constitutionally-mandated patent protection for a
limited period of time.

Although Joseph Newman sought relief in the judicial branch of government, he
was denied relief by a federal judge who even ignored the findings of his own
Special Master and Technical-to-the-Court (and former U.S. Commissioner of the
Patent Office) who stated that the evidence was overwhelming that Joseph
Newman's energy machine worked. Even a test of one of Joseph Newman's
prototypes conducted by the National Bureau of Standards was incompetently-
performed under questionable circumstances by an agency which even admitted
its bias against the new technology _before_ any testing was conducted.

Over the years, more than 30 scientists have signed legal Affidavits
attesting to the successful operability of Joseph Newman's technology.

In effect, the executive and judicial branches of government have
personally cost Joseph Newman hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees,
administrative expenses, bureaucratic red tape, etc. And these branches may
have cost the American taxpayer the opportunity to have access to a
revolutionary source of inexpensive, abundant energy -- a savings which would
represent billions of dollars in energy costs for all American citizens.

In an earlier session of Congress, eleven different U.S. Congressmen (both
Democrats and Republicans) introduced eleven different Private Relief Bills
designed to circumvent the above-described injustice and issue Joseph Newman a
Pioneering Patent for his technology. The wording in the Private Relief Bills
was identical and read as follows:

"A BILL For the relief of Joseph W. Newman.

"Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States
of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of Commerce, acting
through the Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks, is authorized and directed
to immediately issue a pioneer patent to Joseph W. Newman for the invention
described in the patent application numbered 179,474 and filed in August 1980.
Such patent shall be accorded rights equal to the rights accorded to patents
issued title 35, United States Code."

During that Session of Congress all eleven Democratic and Republic
Congressmen pressured then-Congressman Robert Kastenmeier to hold hearings on
the Private Relief Bills. Congressman Kastenmeier refused to hold such
hearings on the grounds that litigation was still pending in the Courts and
Congressional action would be premature.

Kastenmeier, who later lost his seat in Congress after over 30 years, never
acted on the Private Relief Bills and they died in that Session of Congress.
His excuse for inaction is no longer valid since such litigation is no

Here's what I think as well as a word from Mr Newman and a few words
about Mr Newman.
I "got into" the alternative and supressed technologies a while back
and eventually progressed into the "conspiracy guy" that I am today. I
looked at many claims of the elusive perpetual motion machine. I also
realized, very quickly, that these type of inventions threaten to take
away a ton of money from the established energy corporations. I found it
very easy to beleive that if these technologies existed and worked that
they would be "buried" by those who really run the world. (or should I
say "milk" the world).
Most of these free energy machines aren't. This makes them no less
miraculous. Most of these free energy machines get thier power boost
from an otherwise ignored external source.
The Earth! The use of the earth's magnetic and/or gravitational
field(s) to "add" energy into a "closed" system is what makes most of
these things work...and yet still preserve our sacred laws of physics.
(except for the ones that maintain there is no energy in
space/vacuum/ether)
I beleive the "milkers" have all sorts of toys based on these
technologies. I'm sure their underground bases are accessed via
anti-grav elevators and powered by generators that never lose energy.
'Course I beleive a lot with no evidence.

Anyways... here's some stuff on Newman.

STATEMENT FROM JOSEPH NEWMAN REGARDING HIS PIONEERING ENERGY INVENTION

An internationally-recognized scientific journal (The Journal of Applied
Physics, June 1, 1995, Vol. 77, No. 11, pgs. 6015-6020) and the United
States Patent Office have, through their actions, proven that my life's
work is correct!

The article from The Journal of Applied Physics is entitled "Increased
Voltage Phenomena in a Resonance Circuit of Unconventional Magnetic
Configurations." The article describes that, by taking a charged
capacitor
and putting electricity into coils of wire with a ferromagnetic core
between them, results in: "AN INCREASE IN THE AVERAGE CURRENT AND
RECHARGE
VOLTAGE" (Emphasis added.)

This article specifically states that prior knowledge would predict:
"It
is expected that the total recharge VOLTAGE will DECREASE because this
system produces mechanical output as the core moves." (Emphasis added.)

This is EXACTLY what I have been stating in my Patent Applications
(since
1979), in my book, The Energy Machine of Joseph Newman (published in
1984),
on the Internet as well as on hundreds of radio talk shows, TV shows,
and
in thousands of newspapers/magazines across the world for the past 15
years.

If you doubt me, then read the above-described article for yourself and
you
will see that it proves EVERYTHING I have been saying and writing for
years!

Additionally, the article from The Journal of Applied Physics describes
their results as "increased voltage PHENOMENON," which means they don't
understand it! And totally contrary to their lack of understanding on
this
subject, I have provided for many years a consistent Mechanical
Explanation
of the energy of magnetic fields:

"Gyroscopic Particles making up the magnetic fields coming from the
ATOMS
of the coil or coils and magnetic core are the MECHANICAL ESSENCE OF
EINSTEIN'S EQUATION OF E=mc(squared)."

Within two months of the date of publication (June 1, 1995) of the
above-described article, U.S. Patent 5,436,518 was granted to Terou
Kawai
of Japan and assigned to Nihon Riken Co., Ltd. and Terou Kawai, both of
Japan; the patent describes an electrical motor with wire and magnets
having 318% mechanical output/electrical input. This technology is
exactly
what I have taught in my book, published in 1984, and as taught in my
U.S.
Patent Application since 1979 which is still actively pending via
additional improvements.

FACT: Based upon the United States Patent Office's treatment afforded
me,
the Japanese patent office turned down my Patent Application since they
rejected my 1979 claims of "greater external energy out than external
energy in." Yet, United States Patent 5,436,518 in paragraph 5 of
column 8
specifically states 19.55 watts in and 62.16 watts OUT! [Note: By their
actions, the United States government is criminally providing

 -Caveat Lector-

   Source : SCIENCE, 16 Nov. 1984, p. 817
Title: An Endless Siege of Implausible Inventions
   Author : R. Jeffrey Smith

In the modern world of commerce, the U.S. patent and trademark office
is a street-corner cop with the power to arrest de development of any
product that promises the impossible. Its book of statutes contains
the basic laws of physics, the axioms of mathematics, the fundamental
principles of mechanical engineering. With paticular enthusiasm, its
employees serve as guardians of the public in a never-ending battle
against mechanical devices allegedly capeable of perpetual motion.

This, at least, is how they see themselves. Invetors such as Joseph
Newman are more apt to view them sa "a bunch of narrow-minded people
who have conducted themselves outside the federal law and the human
race." For more than 5 years, Newman, 48, has been frustrated in his
efforts to obtain a patent for an "Energy System Having Higher Output
Than Input." In 1982, the patant office told him that because such a
devive is simply infeasible, his application was denied after
something less than a comprehensive, time-consuming review (Science,
   10 Ferbruary [1984], p. 571).

Recently, however, with the help of some unexpected scientific
endorsements, Newman persuaded th U.S. District Court in Washington,
D.C., to order that his application be granted a full review by an
examiner - in short, a second chance. Newman believes that the
decision is a slap in the face for the patant office and a partial
vindication of his claims. Actually, the dispute reveals how easy it
can be for inventors to jerk the patant office around. The ruling,
made by Judge Thomas Jackson on 31. October, places the office in the
difficult position of determining whether Newman's "energy generation
system" -- a powerful electric motor -- is adequately described in
his
application, and whether it is similar or identical to motors with
existing patants. Neither topic was given serious consideration on
the
first go-around, for reasons the patent office believes obvious.

The decision resulted from an unusual hearing in which a phalanx of
attorneys in Newman's employ repeatedly cited patent case law, while
Jere Sears, deputy solicitor in the patent office, repeatedly invoked
the second law of thermodynamics. In its essence, that law states
that
the energy produced by a mechanical device such as Newman's woill
always be less than the energy needed to opeate it. In addition to
basing the case on "all of recorded science", as Sears put it, he
relied heavily on an affidativ from Jacod Rainbow, a former chief
research engineer at the National Bureau of Standards and well-known
debunker of perpetual motion machines. Rainbow has several objections
to the patent application, but his primary claim is that the motor's
output of energy has been measured incorrectly. Although he has not
seen the device or tested himself, he is willing to bet "any money"
that it operates at well under 100 percent efiicency.

As strong as the gouverment's argument was, it was sharply undercut
by
two affidatives. One was written by Mort Zimmerman, the president of
Commercial Technology, Inc., in Dallas. Zimmerman said his 400-person
firm "has independently ... constructed, operated, and tested several
crud prototype devices based on th Newman invention, and has
confirmed for itself that these prototype devices which embody the
Newman invention operate and produce power as claimed by Newman" at
more than 111 percent efficiency. Zimmerman was enthusiastic enough
to
purchase an option for the right to manufacture and sell Newman's
motor in north Texas. (Recently, he told SCIENCE that the motor
"needs
further development for prctical utilization, and we're not
completely
convinced that we can get there.")

The second affidativ was prepared from Lawrence E. Wharton, a
physicist in the Laboratory For Atmospheric Sciences at the Goddart
Flight Space Center in Maryland. Initially, Wharton, who volunteered
his
services to the patent office as a sceptic of Newman's claims,
vigorously attacked Zimmerman's statement. Shortly before the court
hearing,
however, he recanted some of his arguments, and declared that the
motor's
efficiency "is in substantial excess of 100 percent" and perhaps as
high as 600 percent, if Newman's measurements are correct. The change
of
heart came, he said, after Newman argued with him in a long telephone
   conversation.

Both of these statements apparently made a strong impression on
William Schuyler, an attorney and one-time commissioner of U.S.
patents who was appointed by the judge as a "special master" to help
resolve some of the technical disputes. In his report, Schuyler
agreed
that the operation of Newman's motor

LOL! No one is being paid by anyone --at least not on this end. It's a genuine
concern on the part of many Americans, including myself, to protect the U.S. from
any rogue missile attack.

It's also important to protect the U.S. from terrorist attacks other than the
missile-type.

And, from what I understand, an SDI-type defense would handle SCUD attacks as
well.

Universal Press Syndicate, by Richard Reeves, 13 March 1999

John Kennedy once asked Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, "What do
you think of the idea of our Peace Corps?" It was a good plan, Mr. Nehru
answered. Young Americans could learn a lot from Indian villagers, he said.

The American wasn't amused; he thought the Indian was arrogant. But Mr.
Nehru was right, and the arrogance was ours. The major impact of sending
tens of thousands of Americans abroad during the past 35 years has been to
create an alumni corps who have a feel for the world and America's role in
far places.

Unfortunately, there aren't enough of them, and there seem to be fewer each
year. I don't mean Peace Corps Volunteers. I mean fewer Americans capable
of or interested in seeing the world as others see it - or in seeing
ourselves as others see us.

American government, businesses and news organizations are sending fewer
and fewer people abroad. Some of that is plain and simple economics.
Sending people to other countries costs more than hiring locals. So why
should we leave the comforts of home when we can run the global economy, or
digitally connected planet, from Washington and New York?

Ameria is on a roll. But America also is losing it.

Those statements may seem contradictory, but I don't think they are. The
United States now is the most powerful country in the history of the world,
dictating political, economic and military terms to other countries
whenever it suits our purposes.

[HONS Comment : There have been other reports on the news recently about
the wealth of America relative to that of the Roman Empire and the British
Empire. America is much richer per capita than Rome ever was, and it is
now estimated to be five times richer per capita than Britain at the height
of her power, when the Sun never set on the British Empire.]

And because of the power and reach of our popular culture, nearly everyone
in the world knows a great deal about us, whether or not we even know they
exist. But in the oldest of stories, the more power we accumulate, the
less judicious or careful we seem to be in using it.

How do we look to an ordinary Italian? A U.S. Marine Corps jet plane,
based on Italian soil, flies into a valley on a clear day at 621 mph, more
than 100 mph over its mandated limit, at an altitude of less than 400 feet,
which is 1,600 feet below its flight-plan limit, and strikes the cable of a
ski gondola that has been strung across the valley for more than 30 years.
Twenty people in the cable car, all Europeans, plunge to their deaths. Is
it what used to be called "Blame America First" to be shocked or outraged
when the Marines find the pilot did nothing wrong? I mean, even the
commander in chief, President Clinton, said he was "baffled" by the Marine
verdict.

How do we look to an ordinary Scot, who works in a factory making cashmere
sweaters? The Unites States is putting tariffs of more than 100 percent on
such products because Europeans aren't buying enough American bananas. Oh,
you thought Americans don't grow bananas? We don't - except for a few
bunches in Hawaii. But the U.S. government is charging the governments of
Great Britain and France with rigging trade rules to buy bananas from their
onetime Caribbean colonies rather than from American-owned companies in
Central America. Is this fight necessary?

That is to say nothing about how we look to ordinary Iraqis as the bombs
fall and the missiles fly day after day, because our planes are flying over
their country and, we say, their air-defense radars are locking on those
planes. We don't like your leader, so we bomb you. What will ordiunary
Serbs say when the Yanks and their friends march in as part of our
make-peace-or-we'll-kill-you foreign policy?

I am not saying we are wrong in all or any of those situations - although
it should be noted that the U.S. system of military justice hasn't seemed
capable of finding anybody guilty of anything in recent incidents.

We are throwing our weight around these days because we have the power, and
the ignorance, to do it. But we shouldn't kid our sanctimonious selves
that our illusions make what we do right or sensible. Basically, we are
demanding that the world do it our way or else. If that is what being "the
world's only superpower" and the world's "necessary" country is going to
mean, perhaps we should learn a touch more about the lives of Indian
villagers, Italian skiiers and European factory workers before we send out
the commands that it is their duty to remake themselves in our image.

spent on BMEWS, Missiles, Silos, Titans, etc, etc, etc, how it was
possible for a somewhat vintage plane piloted by a "truck driver" to fly
a plane into Clinton's bedroom window in the midst of Ezekials Wheel?

Who is kidding who.supposedly that would be impossible, like a
perpetual motion machine, but it happened.

What if that little vintage plane, had been carrying a Unibomber bomb,
or an H Bomb.

Thank you for your thoughts.

[CTRL] GROWING PERIL TO U.S. SOVEREIGNTY

1999-03-14 Thread Carl Amedio

 -Caveat Lector-

GROWING PERIL TO U.S. SOVEREIGNTY
by PATRICK J. BUCHANAN
February 26, 1999

The sovereignty issue is roaring back. This time, our elites may not write it
off as the concern only of folks on the look-out for black helicopters, or
sitting on rural hillsides soaking up the thunderous oratory at God-and-
Country rallies. For even centrist scholars are now breaking the glass on the
fire alarms. . .

Picture
Up at the United Nations, the carpenters of the New World Order are busy
constructing the world's first permanent war crimes tribunal. Modeled on the
Nuremberg court that convicted the Nazis, the new tribunal claims jurisdiction
over all nations, including the United States.

Last July, America rejected the court, fearing U.S. soldiers could be
prosecuted. Yet, American diplomats are beavering away alongside U.N.
bureaucrats who envision the tribunal as a world court that shall sit above
the claims of any and all nation-states.

"Why Sovereignty Matters" is the title of a paper written for the American
Enterprise Institute by Jeremy Rabkin, a professor of government at Cornell,
who sees global agreements as a growing and direct threat to American
sovereignty.

"(W)hat makes a state sovereign," Rabkin writes, "is that it need answer to no
outside authority." For us, "sovereignty means the primacy of our own
Constitution. The people of the United States, by their own sovereign
authority, have made the Constitution supreme over the government, and no
outside agreement can challenge that supremacy."

Yet, both NAFTA and Al Gore's Kyoto treaty on global warming supersede our
Constitution and imperil that sovereignty, putting America on the same fatal
path being trod by Europe.

Writes Rabkin: "(T)he Common Market ... has expanded in size and ambition to
emerge as something like a federal superstate. ... The European Union has
undertaken ... to remove tariff barriers ... to standardize products and
services, to ensure common protections for labor and the environment, and to
reallocate wealth from richer to poorer regions. In total, such 'integration'
is far more ambitious than the aggregate of policies undertaken by the federal
government in the United States. ... (T)he European Court of Justice claims
and exercises the authority to invalidate statutory enactments of parliaments
...

"No one seriously pretends," he adds, "that the member states of the EU are
still sovereign in the way they once were."

With Tony Blair's Britain, Europe last great holdout, preparing to surrender
its currency and control of monetary policy to the new European central bank,
the day of the nation-state in Europe is over.

Now, the United States, too, "has begun to participate in environmental
agreements, human rights agreements, trade agreements, and agreements in other
areas that do raise inescapable questions about American sovereignty."

Under NAFTA, private companies can appeal U.S. import duties to panels
dominated by Canadians and Mexicans, whose rulings are binding on U.S. courts.
Globalists have discovered the loophole in the Constitution, Article 6, which
puts foreign treaties on the same plane, and are driving their one-world
agenda right through it.

The Kyoto Protocol, Rabkin writes, "assumes that actions of motorists in
Kansas or homeowners in Minnesota can be related to 'international' concerns.
... In ratifying that treaty, the Senate would seem to be ratifying in advance
a whole series of future policies that may never return to the Senate for its
consent."

If Americans are not to lose their constitutional rights and the United
States. its sovereignty to "global governance," there is a need for the
eternal vigilance that is the price of liberty, and more than that.

"Congress must come to grips with the threatened erosion of U.S. sovereignty
in the very near future," writes Rabkin. We need both "new protective
legislation against international bureaucratic mandates," and "a formal
amendment to the Constitution to clarify and reinforce traditional
limitations."

America needs an amendment that declares that no treaty we enter into is above
the Constitution, and that above the sovereignty of the nation stands the
sovereignty of God alone. Here is an issue to rally Republicans, conservatives
and populists, leaving out only those whose hidden agenda is Strobe Talbott's
World Government.

Jefferson wrote: "Our peculiar security is in possession of a written
Constitution. Let us not make it a blank paper by construction. I say the same

The younger girl's father committed suicide
in 1997 after being questioned about molesting his
stepdaughter and daughter. The father of the older
girl has been convicted of raping her and is in
prison.

So the mother married TWO men who are pedophiles...one DOES have to wonder
where HER mind/morals are

I'm sure the defense will claim the mother was sexually abused as a child
herself, and perhaps she was...BUT THAT IS NO EXCUSE TO ALLOW THE SAME
THING TO BE PERPETRATED ON ONE'S OWN CHILDREN!

The 13-year-old girl testified that she was
forced to have sexual relations with a landlord
about once a week. "It's how we paid the rent," she
  said.

Gee, not only does Mom find two men to marry who will molest her
daughters, but also conveniently found a landlord with no moral
convictions, either...

The defense is hoping to convince the jury
that social workers and/or foster parents - possibly
unintentionally - put ideas into the children's
minds that led them to make up tales of abuse.

But that would require us to believe a 13-year old girl can't tell the
difference between fantasy and fact...

[CTRL] Pentagon said Chinese spying at a U.S. nuclear llaboratory will not alter plans

1999-03-14 Thread Carl Amedio

 -Caveat Lector-

By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Picture: The Pentagon said Thursday that disclosures about Chinese spying at
a U.S. nuclear laboratory will not alter plans to bring a group of People's
Liberation Army officers to a similar laboratory in New Mexico this year.
"At this point, I know of no plan to cut back on our military-to-military
contacts," said Pentagon spokesman Capt. Michael Doubleday.
In Antigua, Guatemala, President Clinton Thursday denied charges by
congressional Republicans that his administration ignored Chinese espionage at
Los Alamos National Laboratory, where U.S. nuclear-warhead secrets leaked to
Beijing's agents in the 1980s.
"We did not ignore evidence," Mr. Clinton said during the last day of a
visit to Central America. "Quite the contrary, we acted on it. I think the
record is that we acted aggressively."
According to an internal Pentagon plan released to The Washington Times
last month, the Pentagon will hold more than 80 activities this year with PLA
officials, including high-level visits to China by Defense Secretary William
S. Cohen and Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Charles Krulak.
As part of the exchanges, the Pentagon plans to bring a group of PLA
officers to Sandia National Laboratory in New Mexico. A document outlining the
"game plan" for the exchanges states that a PLA
-- Continued from Front Page --

delegation will attend a "workshop" in October or November at Sandia, where a
"cooperative monitoring center" is located.
Chinese intelligence operations at nearby Los Alamos National Laboratory
in the 1980s led to the loss of U.S. nuclear secrets. On Monday, Energy
Secretary Bill Richardson fired Wen Ho Lee, a longtime Los Alamos employee
suspected of providing design information on this country's most advanced
nuclear warhead to China. He has not been charged.
Capt. Doubleday said he knows of "no thought that is being given to
curtailing" the exchanges as a result of the case.
Capt. Doubleday said it is to "our advantage" to maintain contacts with
the Chinese military as part of the Clinton administration's conciliatory
"engagement" policy, "even in the face of some of these alleged incidents."
Asked if the Chinese military gains from the exchanges, Capt. Doubleday
said: "I think that although there may be some benefits to the Chinese, our
overall view is that any information that we share with the Chinese is
information that is not detrimental to the United States."
Col. Richard Bridges, another Pentagon spokesman, said later that the PLA
visit to Sandia is still "on the table." However, planning for the visit is
still being worked out, he said.
Al Santoli, an aide to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, California Republican, who
specializes in Chinese affairs, said the Pentagon's consideration of the
Sandia visit in light of Chinese actions is "unconscionable."
"They should cancel it as a message to the Chinese military that any type
of military cooperation should include their scaling back on aggressive
acquisition, especially through espionage, of our military technology," Mr.
Santoli said in an interview.
Mr. Santoli said Sandia is where the most important nuclear-weapons
research takes place, and canceling the PLA visit there would be a sign that
the United States will not tolerate nuclear spying.
Republicans in Congress have expressed anger over what they say were
efforts by the Clinton administration to hide the Chinese spying from
Congress. Two Republican presidential candidates also called for White House
National Security Adviser Samuel R. Berger to be fired for his handling of the
case.
"I believe the record is clear that we did respond in an appropriate
way," Mr. Clinton said. The president also rejected calls for Mr. Berger to
resign.
The president defended his China policy from critics, who say engagement
has undermined U.S. national security, first from improper satellite
technology that boosted Chinese missiles, and also from earlier thefts of
nuclear-warhead design data.
As for the spying at U.S. weapons labs, "We have investigated it, and we
continue to investigate it," Mr. Clinton said.
"We have dramatically increased our counterintelligence. I believe we
have taken all appropriate steps. I do not believe that that evidence
justifies an isolated, no-contact relationship with China," he said.
At the Justice Department, Deputy Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.
said Thursday the administration was not slow in responding to the spying
accusations and that the inquiry was given the "highest priority." He also
denied that political considerations delayed the probe.
"The Justice Department and the CIA are conducting investigations into
events that allegedly took place at nuclear-weapons facilities during the
'80s," he said. "We have fully and regularly informed the appropriate parts of

Colleen, that's a good question. On notion being thrown around is that while the
plane had been identified, and could have been shot down but was intentionally not

no nuclear threat posed, it was not shot down but "allowed" to slam into the

[CTRL] Fwd: Scaife-obsessed man sought him, but took own life

1999-03-14 Thread Kris Millegan

Anyone on this list associated with this guy?

Obviously Kangas was very intelligent and no ordinary guy.

His words even sounded a lot like Chris Olsson's.With Susan McDougal on
the hot seat on trial, with hand written checks recovered that say "Pay-off
Bill", now the Clintonistas are trying to play hard ball.

I am realizing that after all these years, I still get hate mail on TWA 800.

This isn't funny.

Regional News - March 14, 1999

Scaife-obsessed man sought him, but took own life
By Richard Gazarik
TRIBUNE-REVIEW

Last month, Steve Kangas of Las Vegas bought a 9mm pistol, a bottle of
Jack Daniel's whiskey and a bus ticket to Pittsburgh.

It would be a one-way trip.

Almost immediately after arriving on Feb. 8, Kangas went to One Oxford
Centre. He walked around inside the towering office complex for a time,
then hid out in a public restroom on the 39th floor.

Nine hours later, drunk to the point of incoherence, Kangas shot and
killed himself in the restroom - on the same floor as the offices of
Richard M. Scaife, the publisher of the Tribune-Review and a nationally
known backer of conservative causes.

The location was no accident. Kangas, 37, was obsessed with Scaife's
politics; apparently he traveled to Pittsburgh to confront, and possibly
to kill, the man he believed to be evil incarnate.

And he came close to completing whatever bizarre mission he was on.
Scaife was in his office for much of the afternoon, but he never ran
into Kangas.

Late that night, Kangas turned the gun on himself moments after a
maintenance worker found him semi-conscious in the men's room, according
to a police report.

He was carrying a box of ammunition when he died. The pistol was brand
new; he had obtained a permit for it shortly before leaving Nevada.

The Allegheny County Coroner's Office ruled the death a suicide.

Six days before he died, Kangas posted a message with an Internet
discussion group blaming Scaife for all of President Clinton's legal
troubles.

"Clinton is, in my mind, a moderate Republican, and it is only the
insanity of Richard Mellon Scaife that is causing them to go after this
man," Kangas wrote.

Scaife has been a frequent target of the left during Independent Counsel
Kenneth Starr's investigation of Clinton. The White House, other
Democrats and some liberal media have accused Scaife of being the
financial force behind what Hillary Clinton called the "vast right-wing
conspiracy" to remove Clinton from office.

Unfortunately, Kangas bought into it all.

On his World Wide Web site, which he titled "Liberalism Resurgent,"
Kangas wrote that Scaife and other wealthy conservatives are the
"overclass," and he accused Scaife of having connections to the Central
Intelligence Agency.

He called the conservative movement "a smooth flowing organization of
advocacy groups, lobbyists, think tanks, conservative foundations, and
PR firms that hurtled the richest one percent into the stratosphere.

"The origins of this machine, interestingly enough, can be traced back
to the CIA," Kangas wrote.

Scaife wasn't the only target of Kangas' scorn. His writings were also
critical of The Washington Post and its publisher, Katharine Graham,
former editor Ben Bradlee and Deputy Managing Editor Bob Woodward. Even
the Knights of Malta and various foundations not linked to Scaife came
under attack.

Kangas also considered Arthur Hays Sulzberger, publisher of The New York
Times, part of the CIA-directed conspiracy.

Kangas was himself a former intelligence agent, according to his Web
site. A Russian linguist, he served in the U.S. Army in Berlin during
the 1980s electronically intercepting and translating communication
traffic of East bloc military units.

"Journalism is the perfect cover for CIA agents," he wrote in one of
many lengthy diatribes against the right. He believed that the news
media provided the perfect cover to "write anti-communist,
pro-capitalist propaganda when needed."

He included Scaife in that group, he wrote, because Scaife's father,
Alan, served in the Office of Strategic Services during World War II.
The OSS was the forerunner of the CIA.

Kangas' writings conveyed a sense of frustration. He tried
unsuccessfully to raise money over the Internet in a one-man crusade
called "Help Fight the Right."

He was once a conservative himself. Kangas wrote that his political
transformation began while he was in the Army. He honed his new liberal
views in Santa Cruz, Calif., coffeehouses while earning a degree in
Russian studies at the University of California.

Kangas' family and friends say they knew he was troubled but had no clue
that he might be homicidal or suicidal.

"I was deeply concerned that he was in serious mischief," said Roger
Langheet, his stepfather.

"There was no reason for him to be in Pittsburgh," said his mother,
Janet Langheet, who holds a doctoral degree in religious studies and
lives

OK, so maybe you're not an agent. Still, the "rogue state firing
ballistic missiles at the US" scenario is bogus, Star Wars can't
deal with likely attacks, there are better ways to spend the money.
In STAR WARS: THE SEQUEL [TIME, 22 Feb. 99] Mark Thompson writes:

"A lot of experts don't believe the missile shield will work. Even
if it can be made to thwart incoming ICBMs, they argue, it will be
worthless against the lo-tech route that nukes or biochemical war-
heads would be more likely to take. A renegade state could sneak a
nuclear bomb into New York City in a truck or the hold of a freighter,
or simple lob a Scud-like missile full of lethal germs into Manhattan
from 20 miles offshore, neatly passing underneath the shield. Even
the Joint Chiefs of Staff 'worry more about a suitcase bomb going
off in one of our cities,' [Sec. of Defence William] Cohen admits.
'Very few countries are going to launch an ICBM, knowing that they
are going to face virtual elimination.'"

So if someone fires an ICBM at the US, whether or not Star Wars II is
up and running, we'll know where it came from, and can/will fry that
particular portion of geography - which is a helluva deterrant, one
that's worked for the last few decades. But if we deploy a perfect
Star Wars system, we're GUARANTEEING that ONLY stealth.war will be
waged against the US, since no rational opponent will suicidally
launch anything that will be 1) shot down and 2) traced and avenged.

In fact, the only opponent that Star Wars would be useful against, is
an opponent that thinks it COULD launch a successful pre-emptive strike
against the US ICBM fleet if there were no ABM system. That opponent
was the old USSR, and it's no longer capable of mounting such an attack,
if such an attack could EVER have been launched - I'd argue that the
submarine missile cruiser fleet made that an impossible dream anyway.

So, Star Wars II is clearly NOT about actualy defending the US from
rogue states - it's about defending military contractors from reduced
income. Bother.

LOL! No one is being paid by anyone --at least not on this end. It's
a genuine concern on the part of many Americans, including myself, to
protect the U.S. from any rogue missile attack.
It's also important to protect the U.S. from terrorist attacks other
than the missile-type.
And, from what I understand, an SDI-type defense would handle SCUD
attacks as well.

1870 to date the society has built upon far better
foundatiotion and with more care and skill, and ranks as
the largest general college fraternity, with more than
12,000 members, nearly 10 per cent. of the total
membership of the world of Greek-letter societies. The
impression has always prevailed that the parent chapter of
"D. K. E." exercises a dominant influence over the entire
organization, but this has been denied. Certain it is
that, at times, the tie between the Yale "Deke" and his
fraters from other colleges is not as strong as tbat
between members of different chapters of almost any
other college fraternity. But this may due to the peculiar
society system at Yale rather than to a peculiarity in the
government or personnel of Delta Kappa Epsilon. Its
Harvard chapter ran against the anti-fraternity laws there
in 1858 and practically ceased to exist as a chapter of
Delta Kappa Epsilon until 1863. It had not initiated
members for several years, but held meetings in Boston,
where it became known as the "Dicky Club." The chapter was
revived as a sophmore society in 1863, and exists to-day,
occasionally challenging attention when some accident
reveals to the public its ridiculous and at times
reprehensible method of initiating candidates. Dicky Club
is no longer "D. K. E." Quite a number of chapters of "D.
K. E." have houses of their own; the "D. K. E." club in
New York stands as high as similar institutions there, and
there arc associations of "D. K. E." alumni at a score
of cities which hold annual reunions and cultivate the
fraternal relations begun during college life. The
fraternity is governed by an advisory council which is
incorporated. The badge resembles that of Psi Upsilon,
except that in the centre of the black field the golden
letters Delta Kappa Epsilon appear upon a white scroll.
Much is made of armorial bearings, each chapter having a
distinct blazon. The fraternity emblem is a lion rampant,
in black, on a gold background.

On its list of names of distinguished members are those of
United States Senators M. C. Butler and Calvin S. Brice;
Perry Belmont, W. D. Washburn, John D. Long, A. Miner
Griswold, A. P. Burbnak, Theodore Roosevelt, John Bach
McMaster, George Ticknor Curtis, Julian Hawthorne, Robert
Grant, Theodore Winthrop, William L. Alden, ex-Governor
MeCreary of Kentucky; Wayne Mcveagh, Charles S. Fairchild,
General Francis A. Walker, Whitelaw Reid, Robert T.
Lincoln, Stewart L. Woodford, Mark H. Dunnell and Henry
Cabot Lodge."

[CTRL] LOLOLOL!! Larry King on Klintoon! LOLOL!!*[u gotta read this]

1999-03-14 Thread Peter Sroufe

 -Caveat Lector-

Welcome to Five Questions with a QA session with a selected guest.
Today our guest is Larry King, well known interviewer and host of "Larry
King Live", seen weeknights on CNN.

After 40 years you must have some interesting stories. Can you tell us one
of them?

Well, one time while I was interviewing President Clinton, I got my head so
far up his ass that I found a piece of gum that he swallowed when he was
12.true story!

Larry, this week marks your 40th year in the radio business. Who is your
favorite guest of all time?

Well, there have been so many..let me see now... has to be Barbara
Streisand, that voice, that beauty, that...no, wait, Marlon Brando, yes
Brando, he was the greatest...Hold on, Ross Perot, talk about a man with
a vision, he has to be... wait, I got it now... Bill and Hillary Clinton,
the greatest President and First Lady this county has ever seen, yes, I
would have to say.wait you know, ... come to think of it every
guest has been my favorite in their own special way

.

What do you say to those who accuse you of having a liberal slant?

That's just a rumor perpetrated by right wing fanatical kooks like Paul
Harvey, George Bush and Bob Dole. My views are no further from the center
than those of Jesse Jackson, Bill Clinton or Ted Kennedy, all well known
centrists

Re: [CTRL] Monica is you. She is just like you.

1999-03-14 Thread revcoal

 -Caveat Lector-

On Fri, 12 Mar 1999, Lloyd Miller [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
Linda Tripp made a critical error in judgement. She thought she was just
like the "American people". Wrong! Monica Lewinsky, not Linda Tripp, is
"just like the American people". Like Monica Lewinsky, the "American
People" are c* suckers, gleefully ready to sacrifice self-respect,
independence, and liberty to curry favor with the powerful!

And even more than wanting to 'curry favor', the rank-and-file of John and
Jane Q's wish to have the government solve any manner of inconvenience in
their lives, they are very willing to give up all manner of civil rights
and liberties in the name of 'security' and 'comfort' -- as long as
'someone' does 'something' about 'it'...

About a year or so ago, we had a bank robbery in the area...it was
reported that it was 'thought' that the perp had excaped to a state forest
in the area (altho it would have made no sense to do so, since said forest
is at the top of a mountain with limited access in and out -- it would be
a perfect TRAP)...but the state brought out loads of helicopters to buzz
overhead, and set up a roadblock in the neighborhood at the foot of the
main road leading to/from the state park -- and proceeded to stop EVERY
vehicle, even those heading IN (when they were reporting they thought the
robber was already IN the forest, so it didn't seem to make much sense to
stop cars coming IN to the neighborhood), and 'require' a complete search
of the vehicle...

The local media duly showed some of those who'd been stopped and searched
stating that they thought it was a 'good idea', that they were okay with
the idea of the illegal search (or course, it wasn't reported as such),
since 'whatever needs to be done should be done'...

Not one person was reported to have objected to being stopped and having
their vehicles searched.

Linda Tripp is a principled whistle blower, confronting illegitimate
power under difficult circumstances, certainly nothing like the "American
people" who care only about propitiating power, kneeling down before
government power in the hopes of obtaining unearned medical and
retirement benefits.

Again, it isn't even a case of benefits, whether one consideres them
'earned' or not (now THAT subject can open up a whole can of worms, for
whom determines whether such benefits are 'earned' or not?)...rather, it
all comes down to the wider venue of 'security', whether that security is
in feeling one can keep a roof over their heads and food on the table, and
obtain medical help when needed, or whether 'security' means giving up
certain freedoms in the name of 'safety'...

Far from joining Linda Tripp in confronting power, the demented "American
People" join Monica Lewinsky in her fantasy world where the most vicious,
the scum who float and claw their way to the top of power
heirarchies--the Hitlers, the Stalins, the Caesars, the Clintons--can be
relied upon to provide happiness and benefits for the weak and helpless
if only one stoops lower than a prostitute.

Reminds me of a few times when I was younger, working at a couple of
places where things definitely weren't right...and during breaks everyone
agreed 'something should be done', that indeed if we ALL stood together
against management, we could effect positive changes...but when the
confrontation came, _I_ was the only one with the courage of my
convictions to actually stand up and 'mouth off'...all the others who'd
given lip service to standing up for their rights just sat back and let ME
take the heat, and in fact were very willing for me to possibly be fired
as long as THEY didn't take any heat, and felt that their jobs were
secure.

Again, it all came down to 'security'...they weren't willing to take the
risk of losing their job for the sake of creating a better working
condition...and if such people aren't willing to take risks on a level
which directly effects them PERSONALLY, one shouldn't be surprised that
they aren't willing to take risks on issues which are more esoteric to
their day-to-day lives...

So the president lied...what does THAT have to do with THEM paying their
mortgage and car loan and putting their kids thru college? Why should
THEY rock the boat over something as 'ivory tower' as 'perjury' and
'obstruction of justice'?

The people are whining for a Caesar. They would prefer Julius or
Augustus, but will just as easily put on the knee pads for Caligula and
pretend.

Yes, as long as 'someone'...ANYONE...takes responsibility off of their own
shoulders...

Detecting Psychotronics With Tin Foil

by Joan Siegemund and Kathy Kasten

From: Joan Siegemund c/o husband Ralf [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Subject: Evidence for benefits

Ed!

Just reread your resume on your MCF site and my eye caught what it did
not catch before: that the govt does not believe you are the victim of
microwaves. The evidence, as my tin foil-covered window has told me in
clear tones, is but a roll of tin foil away.

We covered our windows completely with tinfoil and after initially getting
only tiny holes, we then found much better evidence of strange things
from the sky--and from much closer. Patterns in various shapes, some in
vertical pulse lines and others with angular whale-bone type with one
series of parallel lines (in this case 3) going off at angle to another set that
is more radiating, not parallel.

The tinfoil must completely cover an access window so that the waves must
pass through them, and it is easier for them to pass through
window than walls.

This, together with fax paper or other paper with ink of any pen preferably a
wide-tip felt marker should, I imagine, constitute some sort of
indication that strange things have been coming through that cannot be
explained otherwise.

I have sheets of paper on which I jotted down various notes, and while they
lay beside the computer which is often getting interference, I
watched in amazement as the ink blurred before my eyes. I showed this to
Kathy, together with the tin foil and NY Times story which I will send
you.

I will also include a piece of the black closed-cell foam rubber "skin" which
may have to be worn in more than one layer, but which, because it is
thin, is easily added to without being too bulky.

From: Kathy Kasten[EMAIL PROTECTED]

2/20/97: Last night I saw proof of microwave radiation. Yes, there are ways
to capture the fact of microwave radiation. The proof consisted of
two items: a piece of aluminum foil and a piece of fax paper.

Aluminum Foil: The piece of foil was about 24 inches by 12 inches
(approximately). Besides the usual crinkling of the foil there were additional
lines - very distinctive lines - very straight lines. These etched lines showed
obvious pulsing and they were very straight. Depending on how long
a single piece of foil is utilized - in attempts to block the pulsing microwave
energy - will determine how many lines are etched in the foil. For
each pass, a new line appears. This shows that the microwave beam is
traveling across the targeted field.

So, if you think you are targeted by satellite platform microwave radiation,
be sure to hang some foil in the window. You will need to decide
which window, because the satellites continue in the same orbit, but the
Earth turns. Experiment. Put the foil up in all windows. Collect proof that
you are on the receiving end of microwave radiation.

Fax Paper: First, push the "copy" button on the fax machine - this will only
work with fax paper which is thermal coated. Retrieve "blank" sheet of
paper. Place the paper - coated side up - next to your computer. Log onto
the computer. If the ground scanner in your neighborhood is alert and
is being paid to block and/or retrieve files, sit and watch the paper as it
develops the spectral lines. Sometimes it helps to write on the paper
with fine line felt tips pens - then you can watch the ink as it spreads.

Simple techniques to gather evidence that you are being radiated are
brought to you care of Joan, a target individual in Los Angeles. I know
these techniques work, I saw these pieces of evidence with my own eyes.

Kathy

[CTRL] Year 2000 question: Where was Al?

1999-03-14 Thread Peter Sroufe

 -Caveat Lector-

Why has Al Gore chosen to go AWOL on the issue?

READ THIS AND FIND OUT FOLKS:

http://www.idg.net/idg_frames/english/content.cgi?vc=docid_9-63163.html

Nevertheless, the silence from the vice president's office has been
particularly conspicuous. No one in politics has worked harder at developing
a technology-centric image. Yet in what is arguably the biggest technology
policy issue of the 1997-2000 period, Gore has uttered hardly a word.

Huumm! Wonder why??

[CTRL] WND Presidential Poll AOL

1999-03-14 Thread Jim Yester

 -Caveat Lector-

RE: WorldNetDaily Presidential Poll and AOL BS. When I voted, a message told
me that I had already voted. Below is my message to WorldNetDaily:

Got message saying that I had already voted. I had not. If someone has used my
identity to cast a vote, I would appreciate knowing.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Below is WND's reply:

Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding
the survey currently being conducted by WorldNetDaily.

We have identified a 'vote blocking' problem which affects
AOL customers only; the situation is no doubt related
to AOL's proxy servers which cache our pages. In short,
the WorldNetDaily web server is contacted not by AOL
users directly, but by 'proxy servers'; When the same proxy
server attempts to register a vote repeatedly, our system
detects that the client (in this case a proxy server)
has already cast a vote, and thus further votes from
that client are not permitted.

While we are investigating the practicality of re-engineering or
re-configuring our on side of the system to overcome this problem,
I am not optimistic. We have a long history of problems related
to AOL's proxy caching system (any techies who want
details, E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]).

On my personal behalf, I'd like to add this: We value
and welcome all readers, but I must deal with the reality that
only 4 percent of our traffic comes from AOL, and yet the vast
majority of our 'trouble tickets' are related to the .aol domain.
My most satisfying solution, for myself and our readers, is to
encourage AOL subscribers to try an alternative provider.
(Mindspring comes to mind, and I understand that they're offering
a 'free month trial and waived setup fee'. You have nothing to lose,
and everything to gain. Visit their home page at
http://www.mindspring.com/ and follow the link entitled
"Make the switch to MindSpring and Escape AOL.")

Or pick any other provider for a trial. You won't believe the
difference when you join the hundreds of thousands of WorldNetDaily
readers who enjoy our up-to-the minute pages served fresh
every day.

In the meantime, we've opened a trouble ticket for this
aol-polling problem. Thank you for your interest. And
thanks for reading WorldNetDaily.

Re: [CTRL] ALERT! URGENT: CONTACT YOUR SENATORS FOR NATIONALMISSILEDEFENSE SYSTEM

1999-03-14 Thread A.C. Szul

Granted, there are folks who believe an SDI-type defense will _not_ work. But
arguing that it's not worth spending the money on something that _may_ not work is
certainly not a valid reason against developing the technological means to defend
the U.S. against a possible missile attack from Russia or China or any other rogue
state that decides to test America's [or its allies'] will.

There are still many reasons [i.e. stability, safety, deterrence, etc.] why the
U.S. ought to further explore this project and work jointly with its Allies in
perfecting the technology that makes a "Star Wars"-type of defense functional, and
work well.

There are pro and con arguments for everything. Sometimes it's worth to argue
point by point, and make excuses like "It's not worth the money," etc. But, in
this case, where the lives of millions are at stake, the risks are too high to be
proved wrong.

Isn't avoiding mass destruction on U.S. soil a national priority? Isn't RD of a
national missile defense in this country's best interests?

I would argue that it _is_ worth the money, considering all the gunk procurable
pet projects spent by the U.S. Congress. What makes an SDI-type defense system
any less important on the grand scale of this country's long laundry list of
priorities?

There are naysayers everywhere, making lots of different excuses based on various
SDI research analysis. One ought to ask themselves the source of some of the
results, and Time articles cited below.

Who's behind crushing the SDI for the U.S. and its Allies? What's their agenda?
Why do they care so much whether or not the U.S. develops a national missile
defense system?

Technology that helps mankind was not developed out of thin air. It was perfected
and made to work due to ingenuity, persistence and the true American spirit.

A recent poll [I can't recall the source, but maybe someone out there does]
indicated that a majority of folks in the U.S. believe America currently has some
sort of protection set up against a missile attack. While we know that's not the
case, one can't help but wonder about the kind of mass destruction that would
occur and how many peoples' lives would be ended without the protective shield of
an SDI-type defense network.

So, Star Wars II is clearly NOT about actualy defending the US from
rogue states - it's about defending military contractors from reduced
 income. Bother.

[CTRL] U.S. Medical-Marijuana Movement Awaits Key Report

1999-03-14 Thread Steve Wingate

U.S. Medical-Marijuana Movement Awaits Key Report

By Andrew Quinn

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The battle over medical marijuana has been
waged on the streets, in the courts and at the ballot box.

This week the fight focuses on science with the release Wednesday of a
government-ordered report assessing claims that marijuana can
alleviate suffering associated with everything from AIDS and cancer to
glaucoma and chronic pain.

At stake, both sides in the debate say, could well be the future of marijuana
-- hailed by some as a miracle medicine, condemned by others as
a dangerous substance and the first step to hard drugs, addiction and
despair.

The report was commissioned from the National Academy of Sciences'
Institute of Medicine by Clinton administration anti-drug chief Barry
McCaffrey as a review of all the available research on marijuana. He has
said he will carefully weigh the evidence it presents.

Many observers expect that evidence to be positive, and while few believe
the report will offer specific policy recommendations, pro-marijuana
activists say even a suggestion that further research be conducted would
be powerful new ammunition in the struggle to make marijuana
medically available to people who say they need it.

``This gives a scientific basis to the argument,'' said Bill Zimmerman,
director of Americans for Medical Rights, a group that has coordinated
campaigns to pass medical marijuana initiatives in a number of U.S. states.

``We're hopeful that the government will change its policy in response to
this report,'' Zimmerman said.

That hope would have seemed far-fetched just a few years ago. As recently
as last October, McCaffrey himself dismissed medical-marijuana
advocates as undercover operatives working to weaken America's anti-
drug resolve.

``Let's have none of this malarkey on marijuana-smoking by cunning groups
working to legalize drugs,'' he told a news conference. ``American
medicine is the best in the world for pain management.''

That position has been echoed by a range of conservative, religious and
family groups, who scoff at the notion that the rolled marijuana joint
should be allowed into America's medicine cabinets.

``Morphine is a pure derivative of heroin, and from the poppy. But no doctor
tells you to go out and smoke opium for pain relief,'' said Terry
Hensley of the Drug Free America Foundation of St. Petersburg, Florida.

``This movement ... is using medical marijuana as a red herring or a Trojan
horse to legalize dope because they know they can get it through on
the compassion issue,'' Hensley said.

But compassion and the concerted efforts of well-organized AIDS activist
groups have carried the day in most of the recent tests of the
medical-marijuana issue.

California and Arizona in 1996 became the first states in the country to
pass voter initiatives legalizing certain medical uses of marijuana, and
six other states adopted similar measures in last November's election.

Efforts to implement the state laws have been messy and ineffectual,
however, stymied in large part by federal anti-narcotics laws, which ban
marijuana as a Schedule I drug: dangerous, addictive and without medical
benefit.

Supporters of medical marijuana say this creates a dangerous situation for
the sick and infirm who believe they benefit from the drug, forcing
them to turn to potentially dangerous street dealers and leaving them in fear
of arrest.

``The tens of thousands of patients who are right now using marijuana are
criminals,'' said Chuck Thomas of the Marijuana Policy Project, a
Washington-based group that has lobbied to bring the testimony of
medical-marijuana users before the review committee.

``This may be a war, but we have got to remove the sick and wounded from
the battlefield,'' Thomas said.

Anti-drug groups believe that is easily done, pointing to the fact that the
main active ingredient in marijuana, THC, is available in synthetic form
in the drug Marinol -- a pill that, like any other, delivers a precise dose of a
substance and can be monitored by a doctor.

But many marijuana-using patients say Marinol simply does not work as
well as a few puffs of a marijuana cigarette.

``The fact of smoking a medicine makes it highly unusual, but one has to
focus on the bottom line,'' said Ethan Nadelmann, director of the
Lindesmith Center, a New York-based drug policy think tank funded by
financier George Soros, who has backed a number of
medical-marijuana initiatives.

``There is overwhelming evidence, right in front of our eyes, that this stuff
works,'' Nadelmann said.

Whether that evidence will prove equally convincing to the Institute of
Medicine panel or McCaffrey is an open question. Officials in his
McCaffrey's office said the former general would have no comment on the
matter until after the report was released.

If I decipher Colleen's post correctly, I think she is saying that Mark
Lane was involved with 'Do' of the Heaven's Gate cult? If this is INDEED
what she is saying, it ties in with other things I've read, which pointed
out that 'Do' (Applewhite, I believe), was previously known as 'Bo' in the
1970s, and 'Ti' was 'Peep', the infamous 'Bo and Peep' who claimed to be
in touch with space aliens, who had told them the exact date the world
would end, but that 'the mother ship' would land on some mountaintop
beforehand and rescue the 'true believers' before the final destruction...

And how did one prove one was a true believer? Why, by turning over all
one's earthly assets to 'Bo and Peep', of course...including one's bank
books...

Needless to say, the world did not come to an end...but all the true
believers DID gather on that mountaintop on the appointed date, awaiting
the landing of the mothership...never asking why Bo and Peep were nowhere
to be seen...

And after it became evident that they'd all been 'had', they sheepishly
descended the mountain, a little wiser, a whole lot poorer...but at least
alive...

And for some reason, the authorities didn't seem too concerned about
pursuing 'Bo and Peep', who'd absconded with hundreds of thousands of
dollars in what was obviously a major con...

Year later, I was to read of Bo's previous involvement with not only the
CIA, but with Jonestown (which also had CIA involvement)

So it's not surprising to find Mark Lane's name popping up associated with
both...

It would seem everyplace Lane went, someone was a little ahead or a
little behind him.

Or perhaps Lane is EXACTLY at the right place, at the right time ;-)

Friends,

The national media reports that today's education of America's
children has fallen far below other nations and is now on a
par with some 3rd world countries.

I don't think this is correct. While our children may not be
able to read, write, spell, add or substract, they learn many
subjects not taught in other countries. This is an example.
Thanks Tony.

PROVINCETOWN INTRODUCES SODOMY TO PRESCHOOLERS

Homosexual "Change Agents" Facilitate Implosion of American Culture

Last week the school board in Provincetown, Mass. voted to begin educating
preschoolers about homosexual lifestyles, according to an article in
theWashington Times. The board also decided in favor of hiring preferences
for "sexual minorities," a move that puts Provincetown on the cutting edge
of the homosexual agenda. "We are on a trailblazing path," said Susan
Fleming, superintendent of Provincetown schools. "We are going to be a
change agent."

Provincetown is a homosexual enclave on Cape Cod. Nearly half of the
town's parents are homosexual, as are the school's top officials. Jeannine
Cristina is a lesbian that has a bi-racial daughter in a Provincetown
school - a daughter she conceived through artificial insemination. Miss
Cristina is also the president of the Provincetown PTA and the one who
initially pushed the pro-homosexual school board decision. The adopted
seven-point plan broadly calls on the school system to reject "bias" in
curriculum. The stated goal is to equip "students, teachers and the
community at large with the tools needed to combat racism, sexism,
ableism, classism, heterosexism and homophobia and all forms of
oppression" To teach this "anti-bias" curriculum the school system
will "search for, hire and retain a diverse staff, including sexual
minorities." (Source:The Washington Times, "Provincetown Preschoolers to
Learn ABC's of Being Gay," August 21, 1997).

Miss Cristina remarked that the success of her proposal is "truly a
milestone in education." "I'd be so excited to have this happen across the
nation," she said. "But the reality is a lot of work has to be done across
the country, and hopefully Provincetown will be the model." Miss Cristina
also won the help of local homosexual activist John Perry Ryan who
explained that the plan is to end the "dominance" of the perspective of
the "white Europeans...who are also very heterosexual, very Christian,
very male." (ibid.)

President Clinton was vacationing at Martha's Vineyard, about 40 miles
from Provincetown, when the school board approved the "anti-bias" plan.
Proponents urged the White House to endorse it, but there has been no
reaction as of yet. The lack of response is characteristic of the
president when confronted with an explosive issue. One may be assured that
the silence does not mean indecision, because the president has several
militant homosexuals in his administration and his Hate Crimes conference,
scheduled for November 11th, plans to address America's "bias" problems.

Provincetown and President Have Same Plan

In case Miss Cristina is feeling put off by the Clinton's silence about
her plan for America, all she needs to do is review his radio address of
June 7, 1997. In that address the president announced his planned White
House conference on hate crimes, and announced his initiative for the
eradication of those "biases" that are the target of the Provincetown
plan. On the surface the president's address was full of the usual benign
cliches and platitudes, however, the trained ear may discern the trumpet
call for another assault in America's culture war.

Like George Bush's speeches during the Gulf War, President Clinton's June
7th address was liberally sprinkled with globalist Newspeak. He said,
"...as we move into a new century with its global economy and its global
society, our rich diversity is a powerful strength...", a powerful
strength for the ruling elite, that is, as the American social fabric is
ripped to shreds by "diverse" counter cultures, making the enslavement of
all more certain.

Hate Crime - Daring to Think or Speak the Truth

Clinton lamented, "We still have our ugly words and awful violence, our
burned churches and bombed buildings." He neglected to explain that this
violence is often the effect of the culture war he is nurturing and
supporting with his high office. He hinted at a remedy for the "ugly
words" that he deems to be the cause of our troubles when he said, "...it
is time for us to mount an all-out assault on hate crimes, to punish them
swiftly and severely, and to do more to prevent them from happening in the
first place."

[CTRL] Osama Free Energy

1999-03-14 Thread J. Hoffa

Hi!

I heard of your search for free energy devices,
and I have one for you that actually works.

I'm only afraid, that the energies involved haven't
yet been succeeded to be efficiently put in productive use.

It works like this:

Go to a person and tell him he is a dork, and otherwise put him down.
Make him feel bad.

When he goes home, he is certain to reproduce his bad feelings onto
others, quite probably to as many as two persons. These two persons
in turn will tell off ever more people, and we end up with an
exponentially increasing amount of people feeling bad.

Now, if at some time we can make the loop back to the original
person who you told off, we get a perpetual motion machine,
that produces an infinite amount of energy.

The only problem is that we don't have a 100% sure way to turn
bad feelings into energy yet. But the good thing is that this
construct actually works in practice, and it is easy to test.

Osama (may I call you Osama?) :

Normally after reading a message like this I would begin tests on your
theory by calling you a dork. However, I am trying to turn over a new
leaf and start spreading good karma (breath deeply; listen closely;
can't you almost smell the incense burning and hear my wind chimes
tinkling in the background; do you hear me chanting my mantra?
"Osama is NOT a dork. Osama is NOT a dork. Osama is NOT...").

So, as not to spread more stinky, bad, sand-papery, naughty karma
around, I will NOT call your writing simplistic, sentimental pandering,
and I certainly will NOT call you a dork. Nope. You can't make me do
it. Nope. You can't, so don't even try to tempt me! I won't do it ! Nope,
not me. No way, buddy !

DORK! AAAH - HAAA - H !

Ah, no! I couldn't stop it ! It is a force greater than myself ! I couldn't

[CTRL] Colleen's Question

1999-03-14 Thread J. Hoffa

Whats a dork.

Well, it's an insult. In today's slang, it means a "goof," "bone-
head," etc. There is an older meaning of the word. However,
I wasn't using "dork" in that fashion. (I will withhold the older
translation so as not to offend a lady such as yourself.)

I was simply teasing Osama by using the insult he used in
his "be nice to others" example.
