Rupert Murdoch's Australian savages Republicans over test ban

The refusal of the US Senate to ratify the International Comprehensive
Nuclear
Test Ban Treaty outraged Australian left-wing US-based journalists,
causing
them to vent their anger on the Republicans, never a difficult task. The
worst
of the lot, as expected, was The Australian's Washington-based Cameron
Forbes.
A particularly nasty piece of left-wing work who never seeems to miss a
chance
to blame the Republicans for whatever is supposed to plague the US.
Letting himself go, the self-righteous and dishonest Forbes accused the
Republicans of sending the world into "a mad nuclear arms race," of
creating an
"apocalyptic vision," of causing India, China, Russia, North Korea and
Pakistan
to conduct "further weapons test." But what could one expect, argued
Forbes,
when the likes of Jesse Helmes, a man who "makes teenagers look like
troglodytes", are nestling in the Senate. (Rupert Murdoch's Australian,

bomb? Over Jesse's [Helmes] dead body, 15/10)
That those who opposed Clinton's test ban treaty could possibly have any
sound
or honourable objections was summarily dismissed by Forbes who described
them
". . . as people who do not want disarmament. They love the bomb - in the
name
of US security and superiority." Why it is morally indefensible to defend
US
security and maintain its military superiority is something that the
socialist
Forbes chose not to share with his readers. After all, it was this
military
superiority that kept Soviet barbarism at bay for more than 50 years. Is
that
why Forbes hates it so?
In another sickening example of selective quoting Forbes parroted the
left-wing
Chris Paine, a representative of the NRDC (Natural Resources Defence
Council),
which Forbes tried to pass off as just "an influential lobby group." This
is
absolutely false. The NRDC is a hardcore socialist green organisation that
has
condemned economic growth, synthetic fuels, genetic engineering and
nuclear
power, etc. It has done everything within its power to sabotage economic
development. During the Cold War it supported Soviet initiatives,
condemned
American defence spending and demanded a nuclear freeze by the US - but
not by
the Soviets.
It is fanatical and completely unprincipled. It provoked the alar scare,
claiming that its own experiments with mice proved that the chemical would
cause cancer in humans. Competent scientists extrapolated the NRDC's tests
to
humans and found that a person would have to eat 27,000 apples a day for
70
years to produce the kinds of tumours that massive doses produced in the
NRDC's
mice! It was later found that using the NRDC's own research, a mouse fed
with
half the maximum dose - equivalent to a man eating 14,000 apples a day for
70
years - produced no tumours. A fact that the NRDC did not report. As this
kind
of behaviour is the equivalent of what passes for journalistic ethics on
Murdoch's Australian, it's no wonder Forbes didn't notice. So it comes as
no
surprise that he grossly misled his readers about the nature of this
vicious
scaremongering outfit whose own founder resigned from it out of disgust
because
of the direction it had taken. Another fact, like so many others, that the
fearlessly honest Forbes neglected to mention.
Having quoted the extreme leftwing Paine, Forbes then quoted Joe Biden, a
leading left-wing Democratic Senator who described the Republicans
principled
rejection of Clinton's handiwork "as the US's worst mistake in his 27
years in
politics". And what do we know of Biden? Nothing good, as one would expect
of
someone respected by Forbes.
It was Biden who took to the Senate floor in September 1998 and
ferociously
argued that allowing America to defend itself against a nuclear missile
attack
by building an anti-missile system "will destroy the Anti-Ballistic
Missile
Treaty", completely ignoring the fact that Russia is working on such a
system.
Moreover, according to this great American patriot, such a defence system
would
force China and Russia to adopt a nuclear "launch-on-warning" strategy
which
would bring "nuclear war closer". What Biden and his left-wing
Congressional
ilk did was resurrect the doctrine of Mutual Assured Destruction. And yet
this
is exactly what Forbes had the nauseating nerve to accuse Republicans of
doing.
What a sickening

At mid-point for the window (October 24), a resonance pattern for these predictions is becoming more pronounced. I've listed earthquakes in sets for north and south latitudes below along with an earthquake from the Joshua Tree series for comparison. Note that the largest quake was in the New Ireland Region and was followed by four quakes on neighboring longitudes but in northern latitudes. So earthquakes are occurring on the same longitudes but separated by thousands of miles of latitude. This is resonance. With the full moon rising, earthquakes will increase in the coming week so this is a chance to watch for resonant patterns. Residents of central Washington reported that the Aurora produced a bowed arc of bluish-white light never before seen by long-time residents. The usual display looks like green spot lights flashing with other colors occasionally commingled. I'm not sure what caused the bluish-white color but it is a definite change from the usual appearance of the Aurora. Anyone who has the book God of Eden by William Bramley should dig it out and read or reread Chapter 18, The Black Death starting on page 179. This book was published in 1989, years before the Chemtrails. There are places in that chapter that sound like they could have been written today. Below are a few quotes, enough to give you an idea of the parallels between the middle age plagues and whats happening today with the Chemtrails. The Black Death began in Asia and soon spread to Europe where it killed well over 25 million people (about one third of Europe's total population) in less than four years. Some historians put the casualty figure closer to 35 to 40 million people, or about half of all Europeans Two types of plague are believed to have caused the Black Death. The first is the "bubonic" type, which was the most common. The bubonic form of plague is characterized by swellings of the lymph nodes: the swellings are called "buboes," The buboes are accompanied by vomiting, fever and death This form of plague is not contagious between human beings; it requires an active carrier, such as a flea. For this reason, many historians believe that flea-infested rodents caused the Bubonic Plague... The second form of plague contributing to the Black Death is a highly contagious type known as "pneumonic" plague. It is marked by shivering, rapid breathing and the coughing up of blood... This second type of plague is nearly always fatal and transmits best in cold weather and in poor ventilation. Some physicians today believe it was this second form, the "pneumonic" plague, which was responsible for most of the casualties of the Black Death because of the crowding and poor hygienic conditions then prevalent in Europe. We would normally shake our heads at this tragic period of human history and be thankful that modern medicine has developed cures for these dread diseases. However, troubling enigmas about the Black Death still linger. Many outbreaks occurred in summer during warm weather in uncrowded regions. Not all outbreaks of bubonic plague were preceded by rodent infestation; in fact, only a minority of cases seemed to be related to an increase in the presence of vermin. The greatest puzzle about the Black Death is how it was able to strike isolated human populations which had no contact with earlier infected areas. The epidemics also tended to end abruptly... A great many people throughout Europe and other Plague stricken regions of the world were reporting that outbreaks of the Plague were caused by foul-smelling "mists". Those mists frequently appeared after unusually bright lights in the sky. The historian quickly discovers that "mists" were reported far more frequently and in many more locations than were rodent infestations. The Plague years were, in fact, a period of heavy UFO activity. What, then, were the mysterious mists? There is another very important way in which plague germs can be transmitted; through germ weapons. The US and the Soviet Union today have stockpiles of biological weapons containing bubonic plague and other epidemic diseases. The germs are kept alive in canisters which spray the diseases into the air on thick, often visible, artificial mists. Anyone breathing in the mist will inhale the disease. There are enough such germ weapons today to wipe out a good portion of humanity. Reports of identical disease-inducing mists from the Plague years strongly suggest that the Black Death was caused by germ warfare. Let us take a look at the incredible reports which lead to that conclusion. The first outbreak of the Plague in Europe followed an unusual series of events. Between 1298 and 1314, seven large "comets" were seem over Europe; one was of "awe-inspiring blackness." .. To the people of Europe, these sightings were considered omens of the Plague which soon followed. It is true that some reported "comets" were probably just that; comets.. On the other hand it is important to note that almost any unusual object in the sky was called a "comet." . This leads us to wonder how many other ancient "comets" were actually similar rocketlike objects. When we are confronted with an old report of a comet, we therefore do not really know what kind of thing we are dealing with unless there is a fuller description. A report of a sudden increase in "comets" or similar celestial phenomena may, in fact, mean an increase in UFO activity. The link between unusual aerial phenomena and the Black Death was established immediately during the first outbreaks of the Plague in Asia. WASHINGTON, DC -- Police are more eager to arrest people for smoking marijuana than for murder, robbery, or rape, according to new figures from the FBI -- and that's a criminal misuse of law enforcement resources that puts innocent Americans at risk, the Libertarian Party charged today. According to the new FBI Uniform Crime Report, police arrested more people for non-violent marijuana offenses in 1998 than for murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault -- combined. In all, 682,885 Americans were arrested last year on marijuana-related charges, while only 676,020 people were arrested for the crimes of murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. Of those arrested for marijuana offenses, 88% were charged with mere possession. "These figures are great news for murderers, rapists, and robbers, since police appear to be more interested in arresting someone for smoking marijuana than for committing a cold-blooded killing, a sadistic rape, or a brazen burglary spree," said Dasbach. "This is a clear case of public endangerment -- and a tragic waste of criminal justice resources. "The fact is, every marijuana arrest means there is less police time, less law enforcement money, less court time, and fewer jail cells available to arrest, convict, and imprison violent criminals," he said. "Does that make any sense?" According to another new study from the Marijuana Policy Project, there are 59,300 people in U.S. prisons and jails for marijuana offenses at any given time, and there have been nearly 3.5 million marijuana arrests since President Bill Clinton took office. "The next time you hear about a vicious murder on the news, ask yourself: Could the police have prevented this crime if they hadn't devoted uncounted millions of dollars and man- hours to arresting those 3.5 million people on marijuana charges over the past six years?" said Dasbach. "How many people are dead, or raped, or had their possessions stolen, or were savagely beaten because a local cop was booking a marijuana suspect instead of protecting innocent Americans from evil criminals? That's the real, human cost of these new FBI figures -- and the sad price we pay for the government's War on Marijuana." The good news in the new FBI Uniform Crime Report is that violent crime is down, acknowledged Dasbach -- falling by 5% last year. "The question is: How much faster would crime be dropping if police made murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault their top priority, instead of marijuana?" he asked. The researchers studied 156 elderly patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) and assigned them to three groups: exercise, medication, or a combination of medication and exercise. To the surprise of the researchers, after 16 weeks all three groups showed statistically significant and similar improvement in measurements of depression. "One of the conclusions we can draw from this is that exercise may be just as effective as medication and may be a better alternative for certain patients," said the lead researcher, Duke psychologist James Blumenthal, who published the results of his team's study in the Oct. 25 issue of The Archives of Internal Medicine. The research is supported by a number of grants from the National Institutes of Health. "While we don't know why exercise confers such a benefit, this study shows that exercise should be considered as a credible form of treatment for these patients," Blumenthal said in an interview. "Almost one-third of depressed patients in general do not respond to medications, and for others, the medications can cause unwanted side effects. Exercise should be considered a viable option." While the researchers studied middle-aged and elderly people, Blumenthal said the results probably hold true for the general population. "Because the elderly tend to have additional medical problems that might make regular exercise difficult, this is the most difficult group to test the exercise hypothesis." Symptoms of MDD, as defined by the psychiatric reference book Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV (DSM-IV), include depressed mood or loss of interest or pleasure combined with at least four of the following: sleep disturbances, weight loss, changes in appetite, psychomotor agitation, feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt, impaired cognition or concentration and recurrent thoughts of death. Based on the DSM-IV definition of depression, 60.4 percent of the patients who only exercised were no longer depressed after 16 weeks, compared with 65.5 percent for the medication group and 68.8 percent of the combination group. When a second commonly used measure of depression, the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression, was added, 47.2 percent of exercise group were no longer considered depressed, compared to 56 percent of medication group and 47 percent of combination. In both cases, according to Blumenthal, the differences between the groups were not statistically significant. Researchers did note that patients who took the anti-depressants saw their symptoms relieved sooner, but by 16 weeks the group differences had disappeared. Blumenthal said it was possible that the structured and supportive atmosphere of the exercise program also could have an effect in improving the symptoms of the exercise group, but he doesn't attribute the majority of the benefit to social support. Studies have shown that improved levels of physical fitness are related to improved symptoms of depression, he said. Nevertheless, early next year, Blumenthal plans to begin a new study to gauge the effect of exercising in a less-supportive atmosphere, and he also plans to include a placebo group. Blumenthal suggested that exercise may be beneficial because patients are actually taking an active role in trying to get better. "Simply taking a pill is very passive," he said. "Patients who exercised may have felt a greater sense of mastery over their condition and gained a greater sense of accomplishment. They felt more self-confident and had better self-esteem because they were able to do it themselves, and attributed their improvement to their ability to exercise. "These findings could change the way some depressed patients are treated, especially those who are not interested in taking anti-depressants," Blumenthal said. "While these medications have been proven to be effective, many people want to avoid the side effects or are looking for a more ?natural' way of feeling better." The anti-depressant used in the study was sertraline (trade name Zoloft), which is a member of a class of commonly used anti-depressants known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Blumenthal cautions that the study did not include patients who were acutely suicidal or had what is termed psychotic depression. -Caveat Lector- The Wall Street Journal October 25, 1999 Bookshelf The Gruesome Consequences Of a Political Idea By JACOB HEILBRUNN The history of communism has not just been about terror, torture, deportations and massacres. It has also been about the illusions of Western intellectuals. Whether it is Günter Grass receiving the Nobel Prize partly for his novelistic effusions about the coziness of East Germany or revisionist historians playing down Stalin's culpability for the great purges, communism has enjoyed, and continues to enjoy, a reputation as an ideology that supposedly pursued lofty humanitarian ends, even if it went astray at times. Indeed, the big intellectual no-no has been to liken it to the other great totalitarian movement of the 20th century -- Nazism. So when "The Black Book of Communism" appeared in Europe in 1997 detailing communism's crimes, it created a furor. Scrupulously documented and soberly written by several historians, it is a masterful work. It is, in fact, a reckoning. With this translation by Jonathan Murphy and Mark Kramer, English-language readers may now see for themselves what all the commotion was about. In his introduction, Stéphane Courtois, himself a former communist, breaks with the postwar taboo on comparing the Gulag with the Holocaust. He notes that the communist body count of more than 100 million exceeds that of the Nazis. He compares the "class genocide" of communism with the "race genocide" of Nazism and states that both were "crimes against humanity." So controversial was this comparison that two of Mr. Courtois's editor-collaborators -- Nicolas Werth and Jean-Louis Margolin -- later distanced themselves from what he wrote. And predictably, the French left lashed itself into a frenzy, denouncing the book's contributors for traducing the noble communist fight against fascism. In Germany, by contrast, Mr. Courtois's views met with a somewhat less chilly reception. A decade before a bitter historians' dispute had erupted when leftist intellectuals such as Jürgen Habermas accused conservative historians of attempting to whitewash the Nazi past by playing up communist atrocities, which some, not all, were indeed trying to do. But this didn't justify the left's refusal to confront the horrors of communism. Eventually, the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the revelation of communist abuses in East Germany helped to overturn old dogmas, and "The Black Book" prompted many Germans to take another look at the relationship between communism and Nazism. That relationship may never be fully understood. But the Russian Red Terror, in its emphasis on the elimination of entire classes of peoples, in its description of opponents as "vermin" to be exterminated, does seem like a precursor of the German concentration camps. Moreover, Nazism profited greatly not only from Lenin's and Stalin's Gulag system -- Rudolf Hoess, commandant of Auschwitz, solicited reports about the operations of Soviet camps -- but also from Bolshevism itself, which served as both a whipping boy and, at times, a political idea that could be collaborated with. The two ideologies validated each other. After World War II, the prestige of the Soviet Union was at its height. The country had fought on the side of the democracies, U.S. war propaganda had painted pipe-smoking "Uncle Joe Stalin" as a friendly fellow. In Europe, communists made a comeback in France, Italy and Germany with the flowering of the myth that communists were merely heroic anti-fascist freedom fighters. Thus the gruesome Soviet record was suppressed. "That the Soviet Union had paid the heaviest human toll for its victory over Nazism," writes Mr. Werth, "served to mask the character of the Stalinist dictatorship." In fact, "the Soviet prisons had never held as many prisoners as they did in the year of victory: a grand total of nearly 5.5 million people." Mr. Werth astutely notes that the Gulag was filled with "criminals" because almost any action, however innocuous, could be branded as illegal dissent. The Gulag,you might say, was the distilled essence of the Soviet Union. Once Khrushchev denounced Stalin's crimes, the Soviet Union began to unravel, however slowly, having lost its reason for being. After the halo wore off the Soviet Union, China emerged as a new beacon for credulous Westerners. Mr. Margolin writes that "one myth was common in the West:the idea that China was far from being a model democracy, but that at least Mao had managed to give a bowl of rice to every Chinese person." In fact, nothing was further than the truth. Mao, like Stalin, deliberately engineered a famine that killed untold millions. Today the hermit kingdom of North Korea is, by all accounts, continuing this tradition by systematically starving much of its population. No. As a matter of standard operating procedure, NSA, CIA, MI6, and possibly the blues band NRBQ would have been monitoring communications from the Chinese embassy since it was first placed at the site in 1996. Is there a more plausible explanation? Yes. The Observer, London's liberal newsweekly, reported last Sunday that NATO's bombing of the Chinese embassy was entirely deliberate. (See http://www.newsunlimited.co.uk/Kosovo/Story/0,2763,92806,00.html. I first heard about it from the fine folks at Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting, http://www.fair.org.) The Observer quoted three widely-separated sources within NATO as stating that the Chinese embassy was bombed because it was transmitting Yugoslav military communications. Why would the Chinese assist Milosevic? The Observer suggests that they might have wanted access to information on stealth technology which Belgrade had gleaned from the downing of an F-117 bomber at the outset of the war. Moreover, the story also notes that the Chinese military attaché openly stated shortly before the attack that the embassy was monitoring incoming NATO cruise missiles in order to develop counter-measures. The attack on the Chinese embassy would therefore have had a clear military purpose. Of course, since the NATO sources are as yet unnamed, the Observer story should be approached with caution. But so should NATO's denials. Remember, NATO spokesfolks committed numerous deceptions and distortions regarding the Kosovo war, regarding items as fundamental as the success of the bombing strategy, the necessity, number, and causes of civilian casualties, and even the terms of pre-war negotiation and the final peace agreement. And if the bombing of the Chinese embassy was indeed intentional, NATO has tremendous incentive to continue its truth modification program. So does China. If the Observer story is true, then both China and NATO engaged in direct violations of international law amounting to acts of war. Moreover, the story came out precisely as Jiang Zemin began a two-week tour of Western capitals to discuss both a) NATO's military posture toward Beijing and b) China's bid to enter the World Trade Organization. An independent press, however, supposedly serves the interests of the public over the state, pursuing truth over expedient nonsense. We might hope for at least some serious attempts to follow up on the Observer's report. However, according to their online archives, here's what America's leading dailies have had to say about the news that NATO sources now state that the bombing of the Chinese embassy was intentional, for reasons which China's military attaché has already partially confirmed: The New York Times? Nothing. The Los Angeles Times? Nothing. The Chicago Tribune? Nothing. The Washington Post carried exactly 93 words on page A14 -- headlined "NATO Denies Story on Embassy Bombing," thereby providing no hint of what the story actually was -- buried beneath news of an execution in Yemen and projected election returns in Botswana. So did NATO bombed the Chinese embassy? We still don't know for sure. Cmdr. William S. Donaldson III, USN (Ret.) Interviewed by John F. McManus In April 1997, Chairman James E. Hall of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) proposed in the Wall Street Journal that TWA Flight 800 had exploded in mid-air nine months earlier because of some undiscovered mechanical failure. The article was entitled "It Wasnt a Missile." Because he found the explanation given by Mr. Hall preposterous, Commander William S. Donaldson III, USN (Ret.) launched his own investigation. He did so in cooperation with the Associated Retired Aviation Professionals. Q. Commander Donaldson, you have been investigating the downing of TWA Flight 800 for over two years. What are your credentials for such a task? A. I am a retired U.S. Navy pilot with more than 24 years of experience in virtually all phases of naval aviation. Pertinent portions of my expertise include graduation from the Navys Postgraduate Aviation Safety School in Monterey, California, where I completed the long course in aviation safety and crash investigation. I have served as a safety officer and crash investigator at both the Squadron and Air Wing levels, and was qualified as a maintenance check pilot in six models of prop and jet aircraft. Also, I am a qualified air traffic controller and served for two years as a Carrier Controlled Approach Officer. Q. What have you concluded about the downing of TWA Flight 800 on July 17, 1996 soon after it left JFK? A. First of all, TWA 800 was the 27th transportation aircraft worldwide to be brought down by a man-portable anti-aircraft missile. What happened to this Boeing 747 was far from unique when you consider that numerous other planes have suffered a similar fate. Just last year, a Boeing 727 was downed in Africa, the 28th victim of this type of attack. Just this month [September] a Lufthansa cargo jet was fired on and missed at low altitude near the Karachi airport overseas. I believe that a shoulder-launched missile was fired from a small boat positioned less than three nautical miles to the southeast of the aircraft. The missile punched through the underside of the aircraft at a point where the left wing meets the fuselage. Its warhead, a type that explodes immediately after impact, penetrated approximately three additional feet into the six-foot-deep tank of fuel in that wing. The resulting explosion caused a massive over-pressurization of all three left-wing tanks blowing open the top skin of the wing. The explosion also impacted the empty center fuel tank, resulting in a secondary fuel/air explosion under and in that center tank. All of this led to catastrophic failures of the nose, tail, and left wing. The planes pieces, plus the passengers and crew, then plunged into the sea in about 30 seconds. Q. What have the government agencies investigating this incident concluded? A. The FBI, NTSB, CIA, and even the White House joined in claiming that a mysterious explosion in the center fuel tank caused the tragedy. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to find such rampant incompetence of several agencies or, even worse, the overt politicization of these agencies at the very top. Q. What are your specific criticisms of the FBIs handling of this matter? A. The FBI investigation was nothing but a token effort. Mr. James Kallstrom the number two official of the FBI headed the agencys investigation and stated during his final press conference in November 1997 that the Bureau had turned over every rock ten times. The literal truth is that they didnt even find some of the eyewitnesses who saw the streak of light rising toward the airplane. We found 140 eyewitnesses, and the FBI has never even interviewed 20 of them. Some of these persons were critically important eyewitnesses, people who were in boats and were first on the scene and who claim to have seen other suspicious boats in the area. The FBI eventually contracted with the Navys China Lake [California] Naval Air Weapons facility to study recovered debris. When the China Lake experts recommended in their report that missiles be fired into 747 fuel tanks in order to replicate the damage found on TWA 800, the FBI not only ignored this report but immediately shut down its investigation. Q. What did the Central Intelligence Agency do to promote the governments fuel-tank-explosion theory? A. With support from allies on Capitol Hill, representatives from the administration over the past few days have been quietly visiting all Democratic and select Republican members of Congress in an all-out effort to get Clinton's Lands Legacy 2000 inserted in a new Omnibus Appropriations bill, according to Chuck Cushman, executive director of the American Land Rights Alliance in Battleground, Wash. Cushman, who has spearheaded a grass-roots campaign against the Clinton's Lands Legacy Initiative and several related bills, decries the White House move as a "sneak attack." "Clinton wants his Lands Legacy Initiative, which would create an off-budget, dedicated billion dollar a year trust fund for land acquisition," Cushman explained in a phone interview. "That way the federal land agencies won't have to go and ask Congress for money every year. There will be no congressional oversight, so agencies like the Forest Service won't have to justify how they spend the money -- it will just come to them. "What a way to run a government," he added sardonically. Cushman fears that this spells real danger to property rights, especially in farming and other rural areas. "This will make millions of dollars available on a consistent basis, dollars that the federal bureaucracy can depend on to go and buy up rural America," he said. "If the people don't sell willingly, their lands and homes could be condemned through eminent domain. This is nothing less than an all out attack on rural America and ranks right up there with the Endangered Species Act in terms of harming private land owners and communities in this country." The reference was to the 1973 legislation which extended federal protectionism over thousands of species, including insects and microscopic shrimp and bacteria, stopping construction and wiping out industries, farms, and homes in the process. "To get what he wants the president is basically holding several appropriations bills hostage, using the threat of veto," Cushman continued. "The Interior (Department) appropriations bill has been passed without giving him what he wanted, and he is expected to veto it. But there are several other appropriations bills pending, and Clinton is trying to get these packaged together as an omnibus bill, with Lands Legacy 2000 added as a rider." Specifically, Clinton requested $797 million for the Interior and related agencies, including $413 million for federal land acquisitions and roughly $200 million in new grants programs. The conference committee agreement provides $335 million for the programs that comprise the Lands Legacy Initiative -- with $255 million of that to go for federal land acquisitions in the Everglades, the California Desert, Baca Ranch in New Mexico and Civil War battlefields. That's far short of what Clinton requested. "This is a big deal," Cushman said. "There were meetings Thursday in which key senators on the Appropriations Committee admitted they would have a hard time stopping this. What I'm telling you is not speculation. I've talked to staff people who sat between two key senators as they discussed this issue -- I don't want to name the names, but I can assure you that what I am telling you is absolute gospel truth." This was touted as "the largest one-year investment ever in the protection of America's land resources." The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) -- which is financed by offshore oil, gas and mineral leases and royalties -- was identified as the stream. Part of the LWCF money would flow automatically to the four major federal land agencies: the U.S. Forest Service, Department of Land Management, National Park Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to increase their holdings. LWCF money would also be made available to states and local governments for buying land for greenbelts, parks, wetlands and wildlife habitat and urban parks. The wholesale marketing by several religious groups, going so far as to buy tickets for their youth groups, reinforces this. I suggest that a healthy consideration and explanation by these groups to their youth is in order. I also note with dismay, that the star of this film, Casper Van Dien, also is the star of a movie released a few days ago to video (after the Omega Code) called Modern Vampires. The leading investigative journalist on the 1993 massacre continues to be The Dallas Morning News' Lee Hancock, whose stunning reports can be found regularly on NewsMax.com's main news page. But significant details are emerging in other venues. James Ridgeway, reporting for New York's Village Voice, covered new evidence this week about the presence of foreign military personnel during the 51-day siege at Mt. Carmel: "The Army's Delta Force and the Navy Seals weren't the only observers at Waco, which, as details spill out, looks more and more like a training op for the international commando set. Among others present were representatives of Britain's elite Special Air Services, infamous for its counterinsurgency operations in Northern Ireland." Ridgeway sources a report in the Irish Echo, which unearthed a July 31, 1996, letter from the FBI to Sen. Charles Robb. The letter states in part: "... two SAS soldiers visiting at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, requested and were granted a courtesy visit. The main purpose ... was to experience how the FBI operated its command post. They were shown the relationship of the FBI's command post to the tactical operations center, were allowed a visit to the forward tactical area, and were provided generic briefings regarding the incident. Although the HRT [Hostage Rescue Team] had tactical interface with the SAS during routine practice and training, at no time was the SAS called upon to participate in ... the siege." In his dissent to the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee's 1996 report on Waco, Rep. Bob Barr apparently alluded to the SAS's presence, complaining: "I seriously question the role of military officers being involved in strategy sessions as on-site 'observers,' the presence of foreign military personnel and the use of military equipment such as armored vehicles." On Friday, The Dallas Morning News examined other evidence central to the government's claim that the Davidians started the fire: recordings from FBI listening devices evidently planted within the Mt. Carmel compound. (The government won't reveal exactly how they managed to bug the Davidians.) The FBI's tear gas attack began at 6 a.m. on the final day of the siege. Minutes later, FBI sound equipment recorded church members talking about pouring fuel. The Clinton administration has long maintained that Waco's fatal fire came as a horrific surprise. But the recordings suggest that some Davidians were planning to torch the compound up to six hours before the fire erupted. The FBI says that the key warning only became clear after their recordings were enhanced. But reporter Hancock notes, "FBI agents have never fully explained why the bureau, before the April 19th assault, called Parkland Hospital in Dallas to ask how many beds its burn unit had available." Last month, Inside Cover featured a transcript of an April 19 Dallas TV interview with a Parkland nurse administrator who said the FBI put the hospital on alert at 6:11 a.m. that day, nearly six hours before Waco's flames erupted. If the FBI didn't understand the fire warnings apparent on their own surveillance tapes until those tapes were enhanced, then why the calls to Parkland on April 19? According to the Morning News, FBI logs show that agents "issued a 911 call" to local firefighters at 12:13 p.m., just six minutes after it became apparent the compound was burning. But Inside Cover has been told that a Davidian relative watching from a distance grew increasingly anxious as the conflagration spread without any response from the local fire department. Ten frightening minutes passed. Finally, the relative personally called Bellmead Fire Station. Their answer? Bellmead's dispatcher allegedly told the relative that his unit had been explicitly ordered by the FBI not to respond to the inferno. Only after the panicked relative contacted Waco's Sheriff Harwell, who immediately interceded, were Bellmead firetrucks ordered to the scene. The congressional testimony of Jeffrey Jamar, the FBI's Waco field commander, lends support to the above account -- and contradicts bureau logs indicating that fire equipment was summoned promptly: "When the fire did start and the firetrucks did arrive, I didn't let them in. I held them at the checkpoint. Because I didn't want the firemen to drive into gunfire. I just wasn't going to permit it. It's a terrible thing; a very terrible decision to have to make. And for a large portion of the country, gun "rights" don't matter because they believe politicians who tell them armed police officers will protect them from anything harmful. So, if the object of the gun control debate is to win pro-gun "converts," Mr. Browne's strategy of changing the focus from one of "rights" to "public safety" is spot on target. That's why it is imperative to jump on stories like this one when they are published. Everyone needs to know when some public official is putting their life at risk. As the story notes, if the state's Democrat attorney general, J. Joseph Curran, gets his way, nearly all Maryland residents will be handed a potential death sentence soon, their only crime being that of trusting state officials like him to protect them because they believed his anti-gun propaganda. This is not a good reason to die for. According to the Washington Post, Mr. Curran, like Maryland's Democrat governor, Parris N. Glendening, is a staunch gun control advocate and is proposing "sweeping" new legislation whose ultimate goal is the banning all handguns in the state. Well, not all handguns, actually -- Mr. Curran believes they should only "be the province of the military or law enforcement or a special segment of people." And naturally, true to autocratic form, he wants to decide who the "special people" are. "King Curran I," if you will. To put his proposals into perspective, though, we really need to first understand the practical applications of them and how they might translate into actual safety for American citizens, discounting the empty notion of merely feeling safer. To begin with, Mr. Curran's suggestion that handguns belong only in the hands of one particular group, the military, is inconsequential when it comes to actually being safe in our homes, on our streets, and in our communities. Since the military cannot, by law, participate in civilian law enforcement, this suggestion becomes a moot point. It goes without saying that the military indeed should be equipped with the very best and latest small arms and ammunition, since they provide general security (if not tangible "safety") to all Americans every day of every year. Most of us are not too worried, though, about invading hordes because we're more worried about practical threats appropriate to our situation -- like some idiot in a dark alley who wants to do us harm. Next, Mr. Curran believes that only police officers need to have the kind of protection (immediate and unencumbered access to a handgun) we all deserve. By suggesting this, he creates a class warfare argument: Police officers are more important than regular folks. And of course, it doesn't hurt that police officers will be the first ones called if "hordes" of ticked-off Americans ever sought to harm precious politicians like Mr. Curran. But for safety's sake, says Mr. Curran, if we only allowed the police to be armed then there wouldn't be any more crime to worry about and hence, there would be no legitimate "safety" concern to own, carry and use a handgun in one's self-defense. That's a ridiculous thought and I realize that, but this is precisely what Mr. Curran is intimating. Having fleshed out Mr. Curran's suggestions, it now becomes entirely appropriate to examine the hard evidence regarding criminal activity in this country. After all, law-abiding American citizens most often quote self-defense as the reason why they believe they need to be armed at all times. Based on the FBI's most recent (1998) Uniform Crime Report, the statistics don't support his utopian view of the issue of personal safety in the United States. Though violent crime is at it's lowest in years, consider these numbers and see if it makes you feel safe enough to give up the best form of personal protection available today, in lieu of being "protected" only by the police: Law enforcement agencies nationwide recorded a 21 percent Crime Index clearance rate in 1998, which means that 79 percent of crimes went unsolved. The clearance rate for violent crimes was 49 percent, meaning 51 percent went unsolved, while the figure for property crimes was 17 percent cleared and 83 percent uncleared. The crime clearance rate was lowest for burglary and motor vehicle theft, with 14 percent solved and 86 percent unsolved. How much would armed home invasions or carjackings increase if nobody were allowed to be armed, except the police? There are only 641,208 police

I thought readers would find it useful in making their case that the gun issue really does revolve around safety, not just rights. This is his message: "Just read your article on Maryland's attorney general wanting to ban handguns for most. Your conclusions are correct. "We have lived for a number of years in Kenya. There ALL guns are banned, including toy guns that look like guns. The only exception is for small bore shotguns for bird hunting, which are owned by a select few. These guns must be stored in the local police station armory. They can be checked out only during hunting season. It takes an act of parliament to get shells. "Yet in Kenya any criminal that wants one can get a gun. "My wife and a friend were robbed at gunpoint near Mombassa. Their vehicle was taken also and they were left standing on the side of the road. As they were walking along they heard shots. The same crooks who had just robbed them, robbed and killed a tourist down the road. And this is in a nation where the police go around with automatic weapons. "They (the police), by the way, shoot to kill all the time. I worked as a pilot and the airport had armed police everywhere and lots of 'security.' One day, in front of our hangar, a Kenyan made the mistake of touching the policeman's rifle. He died for that mistake, right there in the parking lot. One night in Nairobi, next to my house, a person was lurking in a nearby empty lot. The police came and blew him away with automatic rifle fire. Shoot first and no questions, now or later. "Make no mistake, when only the police have guns, no one is safe. But even wanton killing by police does not deter crime. The only safety is when you're at home and behind locked bars. Bars everywhere, doors, windows, gates, everywhere. We had to have a security guard, armed with a machete, and a locked gate and wall around our house. Day and night. Terrible way to live. "And there is still no safety. There are home invasions there too, where 20 or 30 thugs come with wrecking bars and break into houses. Happens all the time. The police for the most part had no cars for transportation. Call 999 (911) and if the phone happened to be working, the response would be on foot or by public bus. "Another friend was robbed once, during the day. The police came and when they were standing in line for the bus to go back to the stationhouse they noticed someone standing there in line also, with the loot they recognized from the same robbery they came to investigate. The person started to run, so they blew him away too. Our friend felt real bad someone had to die over mere 'stuff.' "I am a gun owner and don't like the NRA, but when they say, 'when guns are outlawed then only outlaws will have guns,' they are correct. Then, no one is safe." This gentleman wrote me again last Friday, telling me that he'd still jump at the chance to make a pilgrimage to Kenya, even to this day, and he was emphatic that all parts of Africa are not similar. But he added that even in a country with a well-armed police force, criminals who still manage to acquire "tightly regulated and prohibited" firearms commit ghastly crimes, including murder, rape and robbery. Alas -- and in keeping with the notion of tying gun rights to the issue of overall safety -- that is the point this man is trying to make. Point taken, as they say. Still I wonder, how many vehement anti-gunners will simply never get the message until it is they who are confronted with this threat and there is nobody around to help and no way to help themselves? Will it be only then they will ask themselves -- right before a criminal puts a gun to their head -- why they didn't realize sooner that indeed the issue of gun rights was really an issue of personal safety all along? Writing about the wisdom of opposing abortion, Alan Keyes last week made some brilliant points about avoiding the pitfalls of painting all who oppose your point of view as "immoral" slobs with no consciences. He's right; some very well-meaning people who are otherwise very well informed and compassionate about a variety of issues still cannot see the wisdom in supporting gun rights, either as a matter of constitutional law and freedom or as a matter of enhancing personal and community safety. We shouldn't, as Mr. Keyes suggested, simply write these people off as our enemies and fail to engage them in reasonable dialogue, debate and discussion. With Few Police to Stop It,Crime Flourishes in Kosovo

JAZINCE, YugoslaviaA silver truck with two large trailers pulled up to this
border crossing with Macedonia recently, and Hasan Koshtanjevci leaned out the
window to tell customs officials that he was carrying clothing meant for
destitute ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
But when the two U.N. policemen who patrol the crossing peeked beneath a canvas
tarp at the rear of the truck, they found a Volkswagen Golf and a Mercedes-
Benz, both headed north into the chaotic and crime-ridden environment of post-
war Kosovo. The U.N. police ordered the truck back to Macedonia.
It was one small victory for the nascent police presence at Kosovo's southern
border with Albania and Macedonia, one of the most porous border crossings in
Europe.
U.N. and Western officials say that since NATO's air campaign against
Yugoslavia ended in June, criminals have passed without difficulty into Kosovo
from Albania and Macedonia, smuggling cars, cigarettes, fuel, narcotics and
other goods, much of it bound for Western Europe.
U.N. officials worry that this is fueling an economic crime wave in the Serbian
province. Arrests and detentions by U.N. policemen and NATO peacekeeping troops
for robberies, looting, auto thefts and other crimes are increasing.
"This is a perfect environment for criminals . . . [and] the level of crimes is
at a totally unacceptable level," said Sven Frederiksen, a Danish policeman who
worked on the international police force in Bosnia and recently became the U.N.
police commissioner in Kosovo. "I'm absolutely sure that drugs are flowing into
the province . . . and going on into Europe. I'm quite sure that the big Audis
and Mercedes you see are not all legal."
U.N. officials here have called for doubling the proposed size of the Kosovo
police force to 6,000 officers. They also have requested that the troops in the
NATO peacekeeping force take on more police duties, though senior NATO officers
here have spurned that idea.
In the meantime, U.S. and allied intelligence agencies have dispatched
specialists on organized crime and narcotics trafficking to Kosovo.
"The chaos makes it a ripe and attractive target for smugglers" who were active
in the region well before the war, said a senior U.S. official who visited
Kosovo recently to discuss narcotics and police matters. "The police have not
been setting up good border controls; they've had other things to do."
Small amounts of cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methadone have been confiscated
at the border, and two weeks ago U.N. police in Pristina, the Kosovo capital,
for the first time arrested several men with heroin, marijuana and needles in
their possession. The men said they had obtained the drugs in Skopje, the
Macedonian capital.
"The border is a veritable sieve," said Lt. Col. Edward Donnelly, chief of
operations for the U.S.-led military brigade responsible for the southeast
sector of Kosovo, which borders Macedonia. "We know there's organized crime in
Gnijilane," the sector's largest city. But U.S. troops have not seized any
drugs, he said, because "we're not looking for it. We're trained to fight
wars," not patrol borders.
Police statistics suggest that the probability of being caught depends heavily
on where in Kosovo a crime is committed, because the U.N. police force has only
been deployed in Pristina and some NATO forces are more willing than others to
tackle crime.
Within the U.S. sector, for example, 73 ethnic Albanians and 14 Serbs have been
imprisoned for crimes from murder and arson to larceny, looting and reckless
driving, more than in any other Kosovo sector. That compares with 52 people
detained by British forces, 32 by the German and 13 by the Italians.
None of those arrested in Kosovo since the war ended has been brought to trial,
because U.N. officials determined that the criminal laws of Yugoslavia violated
human rights and have yet to draft new ones or create a broader judicial and
prison system. As a result, a group of five ethnic Albanians appointed to an ad
hoc supreme court orders detentions only in the most serious cases. It releases
other suspected criminals pending court appearances that are yet unscheduled.
"We are undermanned, underpowered and underequipped," said Michele Lefebvre, a
veteran Canadian police officer handling homicides in Pristina. "I've seen more
weapons since coming here than in my entire career. You have bread and butter
at home? Well, they have a machine gun."
Lefebvre said that crime investigators "lack any forensic support, and have to
use our own cameras and film--we got nothing from the United Nations. Even
getting decent autopsies is hard--there are no photos taken and no X-rays."

Waving red, blue and yellow Colombian flags and chanting slogans like ``For Peace, Not One More Shot. For Peace, Not One More Kidnapping,'' hundreds of thousands streamed through the main avenues of Bogota, Medellin and Cali, the country's three biggest cities. In Uribe, a southern rebel-controlled town where negotiations with the leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, were formally inaugurated on Sunday after months of delays, rebel commanders put their own spin on the ``No More'' message. The FARC contends the government has done nothing to address deeply rooted social inequity or halt death squad activity by right-wing paramilitary groups who have for decades silenced left-wing politicians with assassinations. ``We must support a solution to Colombia's social and political crisis, and say once and for all: No more state terrorism disguised as paramilitarism ... At the national level, the Republican Party is not a conservative party. Grassroots conservatives are not represented in Washington, which has resulted in historically low voter turnouts. The Party is one that embraces MFN for communist China; the Party wants to bring them into the WTO. Never mind the fact that China is threatening our Panama Canal, or persecuting women and Christians. Never mind that they are pointing missiles at Taiwan and at our cities here in the United States. Indeed it is Republicans who are authoring these trade agreements that give China billions of American dollars in trade surpluses every year. How appeasement of communist China will strengthen our nation is beyond me. In order to overcome the danger of nuclear war now confronting mankind, the United States has introduced at the Sixteenth General Assembly of the United Nations a Program for General and Complete Disarmament in a Peaceful World. This new program provides for the progressive reduction of the war-making capabilities of nations and the simultaneous strengthening of international institutions to settle disputes and maintain the peace. Nations are unlikely to shed their means of self-protection in the absence of alternative ways to safeguard their legitimate interests. When they experience the social and economic effects of intellectually inspired long-term trends, many tend to ascribe the process to a conspiracy of some kind. (If only that were so). More than 160 years ago J. S. Mill wrote of how the ideas of a few writers can eventually influence the thinking of a nation's intellectuals. Keynes made a similar point when he wrote: "Madmen in authority, who hear voices in the air, are distilling their frenzy from some academic scribbler of a few years back. I am sure that the power of vested interests is vastly exaggerated compared with the gradual encroachment of ideas. Not, indeed, immediately, but after a certain interval. . . . But, sooner or later, it is ideas, not vested interests, which are dangerous for good or evil." The strength of the Left has, in my opinion, always lain in its understanding of the power of ideas. With few exceptions the so-called right has tended to treat ideas with disdain, preferring to concentrate on traditional values, as if these were independent of ideas. This gross error by conservative forces allowed Leftist ideas to capture the media, universities, much of the school system and the entertainment industry, especially Hollywood. In a sense, its greatest triumph was in giving America the most corrupt administration in the nation's history. Once a nation's so-called elites begin to think alike, regardless of the content of their ideas, they will tend to direct the nation along a path that accords with their world-view. Once we understand this fact, even the most incredibly stupid statements will make sense. Let's take as an example Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott's publicly expressed view that the United States might not exist in its current form in the 21st Century because he believes that nationhood will have become obsolete. (A view not shared by the Russian, Polish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean governments, just to name a few). Anyone with Talbott's views would not have found a position in a responsible and intellectually sound administration. But this is the sensitive '90s and Bill 'I-feel-your-pain' Clinton lounges about in the Oval Office. It took a Chinese columnist, Peter Zhang, to cleverly sum up the situation with the observation that America is being run by the "Arkansas Hick and his merry band of '60s dipsticks with their fairyfloss intellects and LSD-coloured view of the world [who] continue to pursue policies that puts the United States mainland at considerable risk." And the '60s is the key. The likes of Talbott and the Clintons have their intellectual roots in the left-wing ideas that swept through American universities in the '60s. The malevolent fruits of that intellectual plague captured the humanity faculties and after 30 years of relentless Leftist indoctrination succeeded in thoroughly polluting the nation's intellectual environment. The products of this intellectual pestilence now dominate the media and much of the legal profession, including the judiciary; our schools have been contaminated to an extraordinary degree as has the entertainment industry. Even corporate boardrooms have succumbed to this poisonous brew. The basis of this ideology is a pathological hatred of America. Understanding this fact makes us realise that Talbott, a former journalist and college roommate of Clinton, is not really calling for a world government but the destruction of the USA, an oppressive, exploitative and racist society. These were the ideas that the likes of Talbott absorbed during their college days and they have never renounced them. This is the principle reason why Talbott and the rest of Clinton's "merry band of '60s dipsticks with their fairyfloss intellects" are so light on China1. It's really all America's fault, meaning "white America". This lot are so riddled with shame and guilt they are prepared to sacrifice America's interests in order to atone for her alleged sins while exculpating their own. Talbott is an interesting example of the political decay and hypocrisy of America's self-anointed political elites. He shared the radicals' enthusiasm for the 'peace movement' and their doctrine of 'moral equivalence' that not only equated America's faults with the totalitarian Soviet Union's atrocities but also accused Reagan of being provocative, of being the villain, but never the Soviets. Talbott's ridiculous assertion in Time that the collapse of communism proved the peace movement had been right all along served to demonstrate that this ideological moron is congenitally incapable of learning the lessons of history. The encryption of computer data may well be the most powerful tool peaceful individuals have to protect themselves against Big Brother. Predictably, Big Brother is eager to control it. The rationale, as expressed in A Report to the President of the United States (Sept. 16, 1999): "American history has been punctuated by periods in which the National government had to respond to sweeping social, economic and technological developments." Speaking of cyberspace as a "new tool", the government claims that technology raises new issues to which it must respond in new ways. Buncombe. The issues are the same as they have always been. In 1785, a resolution authorized the secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs to open and inspect any mail that related to the safety and interests of the United States. The ensuing 'inspections' caused prominent men, like George Washington, to complain of mail tampering. According to various historians, it led James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe to write to each other in code - that is, they encrypted their letters in order to preserve the privacy of their political discussion. The need for Founding Fathers to encrypt the information they sent to each other is high irony. The intrusive post office against which they rebelled had been established specifically to provide a free flow of political opinion. In the 1770's, Sam Adams had urged the 13 colonies to create an independent postal system. The existing post office, established by the British, acted as a censor and barrier against the spread of rebellious sentiment. Dorothy Ganfield Fowler in her book Unmailable: Congress and the Post Office observed, "He [Adams] claimed the colonial post office was made use of for the purpose of stopping the 'Channels of publick Intelligence and so in Effect of aiding the measures of Tyranny.'" Thus, "'...the necessity of substituting another office in its Stead must be obvious.' Alas, the more governments change, the more things stay the same. Soon, the Continental Congress itself wanted to declare some types of matter 'unmailable' because their content was deemed too dangerous. One of the first types of mail to become de facto unmailable was Anti-Federalist letters and periodicals. During the debates over ratifying the Constitution, the Anti-Federalists - who basically rejected a Constitution unless it had a Bill of Rights - simply could not circulate their material through the Federalist-controlled post office. Yet, like Adams, many of those who founded the Post Office seemed to want communication to flow freely. The first official restrictions placed on 'mailability' were strictly utilitarian, not political. For example, the first law (1797) by which Congress limited what could be mailed banned newspapers with wet print because they damaged accompanying material. But politics won. Prior to and during the Civil War, governments of both the North and South banned just about anything they deemed to be 'seditious.' Private communication in America has never recovered. Recent history is rife with purely political postal measures such as the "Cunningham Amendment" (1962) which restricted the circulation of communist literature that originated in a foreign country. The American government has always realized the political importance of controlling the flow of information. In the 1770s, communication occurred primarily through postal routes maintained by horseback riders. Today, we communicate through packets of data beamed across phone lines. This difference in the transmission mode is irrelevant to the principle involved. The key questions are, "who owns your words and ideas?" and "who has the right to read them?" On May 6, 1999, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that federal restrictions on encryption violate the First Amendment: specifically, they constitute prior restraint and may limit the freedom of the press (Daniel J. Bernstein v. US Department of Justice). In the decision, Judge Betty Fletcher stated, "The availability and use of secure encryption may reclaim some portion of the privacy we have lost. Government efforts to control encryption thus may well implicate not only the First Amendment rights but also the constitutional rights of each of us as potential recipients of encryption's bounty." On September 16, the Clinton Administration sidestepped the court ruling through a new policy. [CTRL] Abductions/Domestic Violence/Child Abuse Allegations
-Caveat Lector- I have been conducting research on UFO's and law enforcement for about 5 months now and have found something I find very interesting. I have sent out numerous e-mails and also regular mail on this research and received many interesting replies on the alien abduction question. Many people state that they would not discuss this abduction and possible bruises or marks with anyone for fear of law enforcement coming to their home on a domestic violence complaint. This is also true with children, as they state that they would not even let their child attend school because they would be visited by the local Child Abuse Agency and they would have to explain the marks and when they could not, they would be charged with child abuse and have their children taken away. I find these replies very interesting and would appreciate any feedback I could get on the above and any information as to if this ever did happen. I would also appreciate any information on the government experimenting on children without the knowledge of their parents or with knowledge of their parents, that could be considered to be child abuse. OR DO THEY?? There is a political trap here, and one to be considered carefully. The problems are so huge and the plan so big that it will take divine intervention to circumvent it. All for a very good reason, of course. The main implementation plans for the objectives of the Biodiversity Treaty are contained in a document called United Nations Agenda 21. And throughout all of the civilized world, you will now find cities and countries (particularly in Europe and South America) implementing the plan under what is called "Local Agenda 21." Do a search engine look at just "Agenda 21" and about 150,000 links will be checkable, many in foreign languages, putting the objectives in place around the world. It really is an amazing thing to see the same words, the same plan, the same "good reasons" being touted everywhere... everyone mindlessly reading from the same script. Truly freaky! In the United States, some communities are actually using the term "Local Agenda 21," but more often you will hear their plans referred to as an "anti-urban sprawl" program, or "green belt development." And it is going to be the big dividing issue politically very quickly. The green belt advocates want the parameters of existing cities to be established by new zoning ordinances (based on federal zoning "suggestions") so that no new commercial, residential or industrial development can occur outside a certain boundary. This would mean that revitalization of crumbling inner cities and so forth would have to occur, new housing would have to be "figured out" within those city boundaries, and space now "wrongly" used would be given new "opportunities" to serve the public. There are BOTH good and bad things about such planning. But anything that abbrogates personal liberty and freedom of choice is going to be on my "no way" list. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his SSN on it, in the palm of his hand. When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?" and "Are you gratefulfor the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?" Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper. She took them all without missing a beat. At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge...and handed him the little pile. Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Col Carrigan was almost number four. For years after their release, a group of determined former POWs including Col Carrigan, tried to bring Ms. Fonda and others up on charges of treason. I don't know that they used it, but the charge of "Negligent Homicide due to Depraved Indifference" would also seem appropriate. Her obvious "granting of aid and comfort to the enemy", alone, should've been sufficient for the treason count. However, to date, Jane Fonda has never been formally charged with anything and continues to enjoy the privileged life of the rich and famous. I, personally, think that this is shame on us, the American Citizenry. Part of our shortfall is ignorance: most don't know such actions ever took place. Thought you might appreciate the knowledge. Most of you've probably already seen this by now.only addition I might add to these sentiments is to remember the satisfaction of relieving myself into the urinal at some airbase or another where "zaps" of Hanoi Jane's face had been applied. To whom it may concern: I was a civilian economic development advisor in Viet Nam, and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Viet Nam in 1968, and held for over 5 years. I spent 27 months in solitary confinement, one year in a cage in Cambodia, and one year in a "black box" in Hanoi. My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South Vietnam, whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time, I was weighing approximately 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs.) We were Jane Fonda's "war criminals." When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with Jane Fonda. I said yes, for I would like to tell her about the real treatment we POWs were receiving, which was far different from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by Jane Fonda, as "humane and lenient." Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees with outstretched arms with a piece of steel placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane every time my arms dipped. I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda for a couple of hours after I was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She did not answer me, her former husband, Tom Hayden, answered for her. She was mind controlled by her husband. This does not exemplify someone who should be honored as "100 Years of Great Women." After I was released, I was asked what I thought of Jane Fonda and the anti-war movement. I said that I held Joan Baez's husband in very high regard, for he thought the war was wrong, burned his draft card and went to prison in protest. If the other anti-war protesters took this same route, it would have brought our judicial system to a halt and ended the war much earlier, and there wouldn't be as many on that somber black granite wall called the Vietnam Memorial. The move follows growing concern among consumers about a possible link between the sweetener and brain tumours. Aspartame is consumed by 250m people worldwide and has been used in low-calorie food and drinks such as Diet Coke for 20 years. But in recent years there have been increasing fears about possible health risks. The compound has been linked to multiple sclerosis and even Gulf war syndrome. These worries, spread on the internet, are hotly disputed by NutraSweet's owner, Monsanto, the GM (genetically modified) food giant. Iceland will become the first national grocers' chain to impose a ban and the move will be closely watched by its larger rivals. Iceland is trying to reposition itself as a "green" grocer and has already banned other artificial colours and flavourings from its own goods. Malcolm Walker, Iceland's chairman, was the first grocer to ban GM foods and coined the term "Frankenstein foods". The move will spark a full- scale row between the grocery chain and Monsanto. A NutraSweet spokeswoman said: "Iceland is spreading alarm when it should be reassuring customers. The web has become a real problem [and ] there is a lot of misinformation about." An Iceland executive said that the company will tell staff tomorrow that it will no longer supply food with aspartame under its own label and will be switching to other artificial sweeteners. The company will continue to sell branded products that contain NutraSweet such as Diet Coke. The grocer's executives recently held talks with the International Sweeteners Association, which represents the multi-billion-pound industry. But despite being given assurances that NutraSweet was perfectly safe, Iceland decided to impose a ban. King's College, London, is conducting a three-year study to establish whether there is a link between aspartame and brain tumours. Reports in America have found conflicting evidence of a link. The report contradicted the public assurances of NATO leaders that the missile attack had been an accident. The Observer's sources included "a flight controller operating in Naples, an intelligence officer monitoring Yugoslav radio traffic from Macedonia and a senior [NATO] headquarters officer in Brussels." So far, the reaction in the mainstream U.S. media has been a deafening silence. To date, none of America's three major network evening news programs has mentioned the Observer's findings. Neither has the New York Times or USA Today, even though the story was covered by AP, Reuters and other major wires. The Washington Post relegated the story to a 90-word news brief in its "World Briefing" (10/18/99), under the headline "NATO Denies Story on Embassy Bombing." By contrast, the story appeared in England not only in the Observer and its sister paper, the Guardian (10/17/99), but also in their leading rival, the Times of London, which ran a follow-up article on the official reaction the next day (10/18/99). The Globe and Mail, Canada's most prestigious paper, ran the full Reuters account prominently in its international section (10/18/99). So did the Times of India, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Irish Times (all 10/18/99). The prominent Danish daily Politiken, which collaborated with the Observer on the investigation, was on strike, but ran the story on its website. The difference in perspective with which American journalists have greeted this story can be observed by comparing the headlines over several international news agencies' dispatches about the Observer expose: Reuters (U.K.): "NATO Bombed Chinese Embassy Deliberately--UK Paper" (10/18/99). Agence France Presse (France): "NATO Bombed Chinese Embassy Deliberately: Report" (10/18/99). Deutche Presse-Agentur (Germany): "NATO Bombed Chinese Embassy Deliberately, Observer Claims" (10/18/99). Associated Press (U.S.): "NATO Denies Deliberate Embassy Hit." The U.S. media may today be uninterested in evidence that the attack was deliberate, but they had no trouble last May accepting NATO's explanation that the bombing was a mistake. Even before U.S. officials emerged with a full account of how the embassy could have been "mistakenly" targeted--an "outdated map" of Belgrade played a prominent role in the official explanation--the U.S. media began regularly referring, without evidence, to the "accidental bombing" of the embassy. Peter From another poster not me ok... Anyone who has the book God of Eden by William Bramley should dig it out and read or reread Chapter 18, The Black Death starting on page 179. This book was published in 1989, years before the Chemtrails. There are places in that chapter that sound like they could have been written today. Below are a few quotes, enough to give you an idea of the parallels between the middle age plagues and whats happening today with the Chemtrails. The Black Death began in Asia and soon spread to Europe where it killed well over 25 million people (about one third of Europe's total population) in less than four years. Some historians put the casualty figure closer to 35 to 40 million people, or about half of all Europeans Two types of plague are believed to have caused the Black Death. The first is the "bubonic" type, which was the most common. The bubonic form of plague is characterized by swellings of the lymph nodes: the swellings are called "buboes," The buboes are accompanied by vomiting, fever and death This form of plague is not contagious between human beings; it requires an active carrier, such as a flea. For this reason, many historians believe that flea-infested rodents caused the Bubonic Plague... The second form of plague contributing to the Black Death is a highly contagious type known as "pneumonic" plague. It is marked by shivering, rapid breathing and the coughing up of blood... This second type of plague is nearly always fatal and transmits best in cold weather and in poor ventilation. Some physicians today believe it was this second form, the "pneumonic" plague, which was responsible for most of the casualties of the Black Death because of the crowding and poor hygienic conditions then prevalent in Europe. We would normally shake our heads at this tragic period of human history and be thankful that modern medicine has developed cures for these dread diseases. However, troubling enigmas about the Black Death still linger. Many outbreaks occurred in summer during warm weather in uncrowded regions. Not all outbreaks of bubonic plague were preceded by rodent infestation; in fact, only a minority of cases seemed to be related to an increase in the presence of vermin. The greatest puzzle about the Black Death is how it was able to strike isolated human populations which had no contact with earlier infected areas. The epidemics also tended to end abruptly... A great many people throughout Europe and other Plague stricken regions of the world were reporting that outbreaks of the Plague were caused by foul-smelling "mists". Those mists frequently appeared after unusually bright lights in the sky. The historian quickly discovers that "mists" were reported far more frequently and in many more locations than were rodent infestations. The Plague years were, in fact, a period of heavy UFO activity. What, then, were the mysterious mists? There is another very important way in which plague germs can be transmitted; through germ weapons. The US and the Soviet Union today have stockpiles of biological weapons containing bubonic plague and other epidemic diseases. The germs are kept alive in canisters which spray the diseases into the air on thick, often visible, artificial mists. Anyone breathing in the mist will inhale the disease. There are enough such germ weapons today to wipe out a good portion of humanity. Reports of identical disease-inducing mists from the Plague years strongly suggest that the Black Death was caused by germ warfare. Let us take a look at the incredible reports which lead to that conclusion. The first outbreak of the Plague in Europe followed an unusual series of events. Between 1298 and 1314, seven large "comets" were seem over Europe; one was of "awe-inspiring blackness." .. To the people of Europe, these sightings were considered omens of the Plague which soon followed. It is true that some reported "comets" were probably just that; comets.. On the other hand it is important to note that almost any unusual object in the sky was called a "comet." . This leads us to wonder how many other ancient "comets" were actually similar rocketlike objects. When we are confronted with an old report of a comet, we therefore do not really know what kind of thing we are dealing with unless there is a fuller description.
