-Caveat Lector- I was raised in a Roman Catholic Orphanage. Now I worship God as I please (I am a very open minded christian and don't follow any one denomination). Friends have asked me why the Roman Catholic crucifix has the sign nailed above the head of Jesus that says INRI. What it means is Ieshua Nazarene Rex Israel (translated Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews). The reason I believe this discovery is a hoax is that His name was not Jesus. It is a bad translation of His name. The name was Yeshua (a form of the name Joshua) in Aramaic and Ieshua (to the Greco- Roman world). The name Jesus is a corruption by people who were hard-pressed to pronounce His name. (Personally I believe that the name Jesus was a blending of the God symbols Jesus and Zeus (many pagan gods had changed over the years when incorporated into other cultures for instances comparing Greek and Roman gods of mythology). Also the name Joseph (Joses in Aramaic). His name would have been Yeshua bar Joses (Yeshua son of Joses). Naturally this would have been very confusing at a time in history of no surnames (what we call last names). These were very common names at the time. His mother's name Mary (Miriam in Aramaic) was common also. The King James Bible names four brothers and un-named sisters. The Romam Catholic Church teaches that these had to be children of a previous marriage of Joses. The Bible does say that after the birth of (Yeshua) His mother (Miriam) was a wife to (Joses) implying all the legal and social expectations of a loving marriage up to and assuming the possible presence of othersiblings. This would not bother my faith at all if (Yeshua) had other brothers and sisters instead of being the only son of (Miriam) and (Joses). Instead we have this notion of (Yeshua) being the only begotten son of God. But even the New Testament traces His Family tree through (Joses) being of the Line of David which makes no sense at all if (Joses) was not His legal or biological father. [CTRL] questions about backing up and saving mail
-Caveat Lector- I am running Internet Explorer 5.5 with Outlook Express and I love to save old mail worth keeping. I have my inbox divided into catagories such as religion, shadow govt, history, etc. Is there an easy way to save old mail to another hard drive??? The only way I have found in very tedious and involves saving and moving each individual piece of email one at a time. The mail can't be moved back once you do this either. Is there a way to backup what is in your Inbox??? Is there a way to move multiple files??? If there isn't, is there another mail program that allows you to do this I set up Outlook Express not to delete mail on exit and also not to delete mail for 999 days (the most it will let you save it for. I have been thinking on this subject since 1972. Can the poles flip try in our life time. My own theory.. What scientists call a ice age is just the ice cap breaking down and re-forming elsewhere. What triggers this I am not sureI am still thinking about this. When I come up with a theory I will post it. Immanuel Velikovsky had some interesting theories on this subject as well as other people. He said it was possible to have "mini reversals". He was sure these had indeed happened in historic time and the man and animal life has been deeply affected by them. He considered the fact that many of the life forms destroyed in catastrophies were more physically adapted to survive than the creatures that replaced them. In other words, there was nothing wrong with the animals, they were just SUDDENLY WIPE OUT. Take the mastedons for instance. Scientists found undigested plants in their stomachs and between their teeth. Plants that now grow nowhere near where the animals died (like currently hundreds of miles away). They died and were flash frozen in the blink of an eye (as they did not have time to putrify or decay). It is said that sled dogs ate the meat with no problems. Take fossils for instance. There are no new fossild being made. The majority of plants and animals died and rot and are gone in days. Fossils formed under great heat and stress causing the plants and/or animals to die and be covered up so quickly and under such heat that they just got sealed and fossilized. Another subject Dr. Velikovsky tackled was the idea of where petroleum came from. Or coal either for that matter. Coal and oil where created under great stress and heat. What caused the great fift valley in Africa for instance. where the earth looks like alarge tennis ball that some giant twisted until the surface cracked and tore. Look at a geological (surface feature map). The Andes Mountains and the Himalayas have been thrust up higher in historic times. Dr. Velikovsky had the personal opinion the the time frame of history is all wrong. That many old religious documents including the Old Testament are recordings of such events. Look at the east coast of the United States around the Carolinas especially, there are a series of "blue holes" out in the ocean and depressions all along the U.S. east coast that look like a train of meteorites had rained in a path left to right. Has the sun always risen in the east and set in the west Not according to many ancient documents and legends. In one of the pyramids is a mural of the sky the way it would look if if the sun rose in the west and set in the east. It was considered very sacred. Ancient temples were always oriented to the sun rising on the solstice. That is the main reason temples were abandoned and rebuilt. The old testament temple was even rebuilt for this reason. The day has not always been 24 hours long. The year has not always been 365 days long. Historically this is a "recent" occurance. What we read in the Old Testament is a historical record of earth changes (the exodus for instance). -Caveat Lector- Steve, As a person raised around cats most of my life I have made an observation. Cats themselves have what a vet friend used to call the cat crazies. This is when for instance a quiet dozing cat will suddenly jump up like a bat out of hell, tear around the room chasing heaven knows what, meow and vocalize at no one or nothing in particular, run up the drapes, etc. This behavior is most commonly observed in young cats but will occasionally be seen in all cats. Some people who I have known the smoke reefer have been known to blow a little smoke at their cat. The report that they instantly get the cat crazies. Cat themselves seem to have an interesting brain / thought process pattern so its not entirely impossible that some of this might rub off on the humans in their lives. Whether this is due to a virus or not I can't say (as no one has ever stood up to vouch for my sanity ever). I enjoy cat behavior very much but many people absolutely detest cats. Do you know that the only member of the cat family mentioned in the bible is the lion (in the old or new testaments). This is very strange because the Egyptians just about worshiped cats and thought very highly of them. Going way back to early history what we call science and medicine were the bastard offsprings of astrology. They were once proud of the connection. During the depression you did not ask what's for dinner. If it was there you sat down said grace and ate it and were greatful. We laugh at road kill jokes but especially in rural areas meat is meat. Animals such as raccoon, possum, rabbit, squirrel, pidgeon (that is squab to you rich folk) are, I am told, tasty if cooked properly. I sure when times got extremely rough that many a companion animal or pet made it into the stew pot. If not your own pet then someone else's from down the road. Hardly any of us have known real starvation. We say that we are starved if we haven't eaten in 3 hours or so. How many of us have gone 3 days without food??? In many places on this planet people eat snake, dog, cat, birds of all type, monkey, goat, sheep, horse, etc. Unless we are vegetarians we eat meat. Are meat comes to us all neatly packaged and labelled in the supermarket. We try not to dwell on how it gets to us, just that it's there when we want it. Many of us who got a Y2K stash together bought canned goods and bullets. The bullets were not just for keeping away predators (2 legged and 4 legged) but for possibly hunting game. I am sure that most of truly know that all animals feel pain and we wish their death to be as pain free as possible. I believe that if you kill an animal you should eat it or find some use for it. Otherwise it is a waste. First off, I'd like you to show some sort of PROOF for this allegation. Secondly, the adoption fees are set by the state, not by the town and definitely not by the individual dog warden. Point of fact, when my parents worked for the town, the adoption fee was $5 -- hardly an astromical price. Later, I got that creep fired and there ws a very lovely investigation into the dog pound. If what you say is true -- and you consistently prove how faulty your memory is -- then the 'creep' as you described him deserved to be fired, and an investigation into the workings of the pound was more than warranted... So dogs - see how it is.Like people, nobody wants an animal without a pedigree for it is of no value. From the point of view of the assailants the attacks were near miracles of logistical calculation, timing, courage in execution and devastation inflicted upon the targets. The Pearl Harbor base containing America's naval might was thought to be invulnerable, yet in half an hour 2000 were dead, and the cream of the fleet destroyed. This week, within an hour on the morning of September 11, security at three different airports was successfully breached, the crews of four large passenger jets efficiently overpowered, the cockpits commandeered, navigation coordinates reset. In three of the four missions the assailants attained successes probably far beyond the expectations of the planners. As a feat of suicidal aviation the Pentagon kamikaze assault was particularly audacious, with eyewitness accounts describing the Boeing 767 skimming the Potomac before driving right through the low lying Pentagon perimeter, in a sector housing Planning and Logistics. The two Trade Center Buildings were struck at what structural engineers say were the points of maximum vulnerability. The strength of the buildings derived entirely from the steel perimeter frame, designed - so its lead architect said only last week - to withstand the impact of a Boeing 707. These buildings were struck full force Tuesday morning by Boeing 737s, with fuel tanks fully loaded for the long flights to the West Coast. Within an hour of the impacts both buildings collapsed. By evening, a third 46-story Trade Center building had also crumbled. Not in terms of destructive extent, but in terms of symbolic obliteration the attack is virtually without historic parallel, a trauma at least as great as the San Francisco earthquake or the Chicago fire. There may be another similarity to Pearl Harbor. The possibility of a Japanese attack in early December of 1941 was known to US Naval Intelligence and to President Roosevelt. Last Tuesday, derision at the failure of US intelligence was widespread. The Washington Post quoted an unnamed top official at the National Security Council as saying, We don't know anything here. In fact Osama bin Laden, now prime suspect, said in an interview three weeks ago with Abdel-Bari Atwan, the editor of the London-based al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper, that he planned very, very big attacks against American interests. Here is bin-Laden, probably the most notorious Islamic foe of America on the planet, originally trained by the CIA, planner of other successful attacks on US installations such as the embassies in East Africa, carrying a $5 million FBI bounty on his head proclaiming the imminence of another assault, and US intelligence was impotent, even though the attacks must have taken months, if not years to plan, and even though CNN has reported that bin-Laden and his coordinating group al-Qa'ida had been using an airstrip in Afghanistan to train pilots to fly 767s. Back in the 1960s and 1970s, when hijacking was a preoccupation, the possibility of air assaults on buildings such as the Trade Center were a major concern of US security and intelligence agencies. But since the 1980s and particularly during the Clinton-Gore years the focus shifted to more modish fears, such as bio-chemical assault and nuclear weapons launched by so-called rogue states. This latter threat had the allure of justifying the $60 billion investment in Missile Defense aka Star Wars. One of the biggest proponents of that approach was Al Gore's security advisor, Leon Fuerth, who wailed plaintively amid Tuesday's rubble that In effect the country's at war but we don't have the coordinates of the enemy.
