-Caveat Lector-

Well sure, since it's "after the Sept. 11 attacks"
...shouldn't we all get one? They are so convenient.
Can you think of any reasons NOT to get one?

"after the Sept. 11 attacks, smart cards are the ideal
platform for a national ID card system."
Sure, you've got a passport, a driver's license, and a
pile of credit cards. But now, since the Sept. 11
attacks, corporate and government interests are
pushing for everyone to carry a national ID smart card
equipped with embedded digital chips.

Americans already stuff their wallets with credit
cards, driver's licenses, employee ID cards, and much
more, so why not add a national identification card to
the stack? Proponents, notably Sun CEO Scott McNealy,
argue that after the Sept. 11 attacks, smart cards are
the ideal platform for a national ID card system.

"The U.S. military's action could open up a new growth
market as the world becomes obsessed with security
after last month's hijack attacks." The U.S.
military is spearheading a switch to "smart" identity
cards. Reuters

The Technology is Already Here:

The technology and equipment are available today to
produce a multi-layered, with imbedded chip(s),
holograms of facial/eye/fingerprint features making
the social security card a national ID card. This work
was completed several years ago by a Virginia based
company.
