DATEK STREAMER SECURITY FLAW
Computer researchers have determined that DATEK, an online
stock-trading firm, is sending stock portfolio information over
the Internet without any security. Datek's Streamer
application allows investors to monitor and manage their online
stocks. According to information warriors, Datek's account
information is protected, but the client portfolio is
transmitted over the Internet in clear text. This allows anyone
able to access the data stream between the client and Datek to
view the client portfolio and determine their current values.
Datek has acknowledged that the problem exists but has not
provided an estimate when the security flaw will be fixed.

MORE VIRUS ATTACKS
The Nimda and Code Red virus programs continue to plague systems
on the Internet. Recent recorded attacks include infected
computers at AT&T and China Telecom, a firm owned by the
communist Chinese Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications
(MPT).

AIRBUS CTL-ALT-DELETE
The recent crash of American Airlines flight 587 has highlighted
problems with Airbus aircraft. Although, NTSB investigators on
the AA flight 587 crash are focusing on the GE TF-6 jet engines,
the European manufacturer Airbus has encountered many more
problems with its highly computerized jet controls. The most
often problem cited by NTSB reports is that Airbus computers
have confused even experienced pilots. At least four fatal
crashes of Airbus airliners have been blamed on bad software or
on pilots who put the aircraft into the wrong computerized mode.
