And No Wonder - recent tax increases in Pakistan, they need the added
protection for without a doubt this government is riding for a big fall
- will the USA save their worthless hides. Will their police kidnpa
maybe a few USA Army Generals or something that is if any of them these
days to to war with their troops, as did Schwartzkoph....note Frank and
Rosa stay home and play computer war games.

So steal from the poor and give to the rich - thought that was to be the
other way around - you steal from the rich and give to the poor.....or
at least, leave the poor alone and abolish their taxes.

The one tax here, which I have reproduced below is typical of these new
wonderful firiends.......love those Blue Berets,

So the walls come a tumbling down?

Imposition of GST on drugs slammed
By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 21: A cross-section of public opinion has sharply
reacted to the levy of 15 per cent general sales tax (GST) on medicines.
Dr Mushtaq Noorwala, a representative of Pakistan Chemical and Drugs
Association told Dawn that the levy of sales tax on medicines was a
"curse" which would "further burden the country's poor."

He said that it was a pity that the government had allocated only 0.2
per cent share of the total budget for the health-care. Mr Noorwala said
the government had not made things clear about the existing stock of
medicines.
Pakistan Manufacturers Association, Vice-Chairman, Muhammad Abdullah
Feroz said the levy of GST would push up the already high prices of
drugs in a country where more than 50 per cent people were living below
the poverty line.

Rejecting the government's claim that the revenue generated through
sales tax would be allocated for the betterment of the people, he said
the present government "has over-burdened the poor people with multiple
taxes."

He pointed out that in some European countries the sales tax was levied
not more than 10 per cent on specific medicines, however, these
governments have provided sufficient medical facilities to their
citizens.

People have been left with no choice but to buy the low-cost locally
manufactured medicines instead of more effective but costly drugs
manufactured by multinational companies, he said.
Sohail A Sethi, president Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry
said that instead of bringing down prices of life-saving drugs to an
affordable level, the government was continuously raising them.

Mr Sethi expressed his fears that after the fresh increase in drug
prices the government might withdraw from the responsibility of making
medicines available in the government hospitals.
