Birdie, I think maybe you ought to calm down a bit else the Paramedics will need calling. Your personal like, or dislike of the Royals, or whomever for that matter, is quite irrelevant. One point worth remembering when confronted with some of the crazed conspiracy theories, for example, that there was a pre-meditated plot to have her ritually sacrificed beneath the Pont de l'Alma on Aug 31st as has been suggested by such loonies - is that it was only pure chance that Diana was in Paris that weekend at all. There were no initial plans to spend the weekend there. As was pointed out with much vehemence by the UK tabloids at the time was that she was actually supposed to return to the UK several days earlier directly from Sardinia. It was also pure chance that they decided to dine at the Ritz that evening instead of his apartment - the decision being taken by Dodi. Also the point about the car hitting the 13th pillar deliberately is just ridiculous. The Mercedes slammed into the right side wall of the tunnel on it's right-hand rear side first before it crashed into the pillar thereby losing control. Henri Paul must have been one hell of a driver to pull that one off at over 100 kph. Also, if it was important for her to be sacrificed on Aug 31st then how could they have guaranteed this? The crash happened minutes after midnight - pure chance yet again. They could have left The Ritz at any given time during the evening. They attributed the direct causes of the accident to this excessive speed which, taking account of the particular profile of the road, had rendered the vehicle difficult to control, all the more so because of the presence of the Fiat "Uno" at the entrance of the tunnel and the fact that the driver of the Mercedes had a very poor control of his vehicle. She was killed because she represented good and was messing around with The Land mines projects and they were losing money and the Princess did not want Diana to marry D. Murder one. Frankly "Birds" I think you are either nuts or a mindless sycophant of garrulous media hype. There are numerous people involved in the Land Mines issue who have contributed real progress and substance, of which Diana did little of, who are far easier targets for your apparent assassination conspiracy theory, who are alive and contributing to the work, just "average Joes," going about their work with real conviction, and not hype-driven Dianaesque tabloid photoshoots. The woman was a shameful waste of life. Her death indeed was tragic and no one is denying that. But she was a suicidal minx, a Royal "fille de joie," and essentially suffered the consequences of her risqué on the night of her excess with drunk-at-the-wheel tragedy. Perhaps she was not prepared for her life as a Royal, and one can feel empathy for her apparent misery in such a life. On the other hand, as far as I know, nobody put a noose around her neck and dragged her into the Palace lifestyle, which she readily welcomed, and quickly became a woman devoted to the pursuit of pleasure, a woman of easy virtue, addicted to media glory and self-aggrandisement. Her name is now invoked by a seemingly wide menagerie of united loonies from certain supposed British Anarchists, even Neo-Nazi wannabes, and the Fascist Far Right, who cover their activities with wordy "spiritual" nuances of which "goddess" Diana, "the huntress," is used as a moniker of sorts for their in desguise politico rants. Generally, her persona is now used to attack the British Monarchy, and the Establishment - but form where I'm standing, such a tactic of itself is a reflection of these groups' innate shallowness and half-witted pursuits.
