-Caveat Lector-
Good old Steve expects us to take his word for Farah's supposed dictatorial
governing of the Sacramento Union and his allegations that Ruddy was fired for
shoddy investigative work whilst at the New York Post. Where is the
corroboration Steve? the lack of which was the reason Andy " smelt a rat--no
cited sources," and asked for information vis a vis Joseph Farah, for which
Steve provides no cited sources. Oh I forgot, as flw has said, he is the
"senior analyst" so he has little time (or the need, since he is "senior") to
supply verification, he is too busy impugning other peoples credibility, also
without verification. Gavin. P.S. Does anybody know what FAIR is, website,
anything?

Subject:Joseph Farah, WorldNetDaily and Y2K
Dear folks at FAIR,
This is FYI. Thought you might want to know about it. If you know
anything about this guy and his online news service, I'd love to hear about
it.
Thanks,
Andy Caffrey

To Rob Cherwink:
When I got this, Rob, the trained journalist in me smelt a rat--no cited
sources. Also, I've never heard of WorldNetDaily. Do you have any
experience with them? And their editor Joseph Farah? Well, I surfed around
a bit, checked out his favorite posted topics, etc. and he appears to me to
be a Libertarian anti-Clinton, anti-IRS crusader. Reminds me of LaRouche
when he has all these Constitutional historical articles about gold/silver
standards, etc.
But no smoking gun... I'm just suspicious. We *know* that every anti-govt.
and lunatic Christian group is going to make mountains out of mole hills
with Y2K. See, when May rolls around and people hear about National Guard
tests, which are probably scheduled, the undiscerning will go, "Gee, just
like that guy said, Y2K National Guard mobilizations. That guy must be
right *about all this stuff.*"
When the reality might just be that this guy heard about a scheduled
National Guard training, and everything else is made up. To further the
dupe, he throws in pathos with the scenes of wives and children crying as
MPs drag their husbands away to fight the mobs. In EF! we've seen Barry
Clausen of the Wise Use Movement use this cheap and easy-to-fool-folks
technique over and over again. One true fact and 20 lies.
So I'm just a bit suspicious is all. I haven't found anything to refute
anything in the article though. It could all be true. But I'm looking for
corroboration.
Andy
PS I'm sending you an article by Farah from the WorldNetNews on his Clinton
trip. Vince Foster, etc..

I don't have a lot of time to spend on this but here's just a few things
about Joe Farah:
** Farah currently runs the Western Journalism Center (WJC) a far-right
Scaife funded group near Sacramento CA. They promote conspiracy theories
like the well-known Vince-Foster--Ron- Brown-were-murdered scenarios. His
"news" service is also concerned with such unlikely theories. His closest
associate is Chris Ruddy, a reporter whose wildly inaccurate work got him
canned from the Murdoch-owned New York Post. Let me tell you, it's *hard*
to get fired from the NY Post for inaccuracy!
** He ran the Sacramento Union daily into the ground about a decade ago. He
ran the paper with an iron fist, banning words such as "assault rifle"
"pro-choice" etc. In other words, he imposed a *right-wing* politically
correct regime. The old, staid Union went under not long after he took
over. The Columbia Journalism Review published an expose years ago by a
reporter who had worked under the Farah regime.
** Farah is the ghost writer behind Rush Limbaugh's second book. See, I
told You So. It's really amusing because in the middle of that book
"Limbaugh" muses about how the left is following Italian Marxist Antonio
Gramsci's advice to carry out a "march" through the cultural institutions.
I know a little bit about Limbaugh (I co-wrote "The Way Things Aren't: Rush
Limbaugh's Reign of Error, The New Press, 1995), my guess is Rush had
probably never heard of Gramsci until he read about him in "his" book
proofs.
There's more on Farah, sorry I don't have more time.
Sincerely, Steven Rendall Senior Analyst FAIR
