that end doesnt need to be put into our main switch (but the rj45 cable

Okay you are right. (I originally skipped the details as the image is
blurred, but now double checked it.)

If you can use that media converter that is another story...

yes we can :-) but in the aulas / hacklabs.

:)

OTOH: WS-2960G-24TC-L has 4 dual purpose uplinks.

[Debconf-team] Sponsorship deadline

2012-05-12 Thread Moray Allan
Can some people work on personalised registration status messages, to go
out as soon as possible but certainly before the sponsorship deadline?
It's much easier if attendees find their mistakes now, rather than
having to make special requests to us after the deadline.

In addition to the normal issues (people just forgetting to select the
right options), this year we seem to have four different options

Basic; no sponsored food or accommodation
Basic; want sponsored accommodation
Basic; want sponsored food
Basic; want sponsored food and accommodation

but also separate questions on accommodation

Regular DebConf accommodation
I will arrange my own accommodation

and on food

No dietary restrictions
Vegetarian
Vegan
Other
Not eating with the group

It seems to me that putting the four options for Basic in the
registration category was a bug -- the separate questions already give
us this information, in a way that's consistent for people in
registration categories other than Basic.

The immediate problem from this is that it's likely some attendees have
put inconsistent information in the two places, e.g. asking for Basic;
want sponsored food and accommodation but accidentally leaving I will
arrange my own accommodation chosen.

So two extra things may be needed, beyond the normal status messages:

(a) Check for inconsistent choices, and warn the people in question;

(b) Perhaps re-merge the four basic categories to avoid the problem
recurring.

I'm checking penta and mailing people so they can fix some missing information.
