Bug#419209: Not a /var deadlock

thanks

I also hit this bug very recently. I was able to do snapshots until
mid-february.

Since then, when I start the creation of a snapshot (of my /home, in
this case), the lvcreate process never returns, and it seems impossible
to start any other process. Creating a new window in screen yields an
empty window where nothing happens, opening a signed mail in mutt blocks
at Invoking GPG..., and so on. The running applications, if they don't
need spawning new processes, otherwise seem to work (to which extent I
don't know, as the whole system is unusable enough that I reboot).

The snapshot was created by the following command:

$ sudo lvcreate -L 1g -n home.bak -s /dev/vg1/home

After reboot, it is visible but not a snapshot:

Hi there,

Do you still intend to adopt the Debian Parrot packages? From what I
can see, there was some talk in December about setting up group
maintenance of Parrot, but it doesn't look like that ever took off.

Ouch, of course... the bug appears when _upgrading_. Thanks for pointing
 that out.

Fixed in extra-xdg-menus 1.0-3.

You also need hamradiomenus 1.2, else purging hamradiomenus takes part
of extra-xdg-menus with it!

Attached is the output of:

I saw this error repeats a bit:

% grep ld.so.nohwcap /tmp/kgb.log | uniq -c

What is 'ld.so.nohwcap'? A man page says:

linker will

version.

OK, It toggles some library optimization. So I made a dummy file:

# as root
% echo foo /etc/ld.so.nohwcap

And tried again, same result. Its somewhat different 'strace'
is also attached (test2). Probably not a good lead.

I suggest to add this dependencie to the telnetd package.

As I understand it, you should drop the netbase dependency and depend on:
openbsd-inetd | inet-superserver

See #402583.

Bug#473354: ITP: winhardware -- hardware summary report from a Win32 host

Hello,

Regarding the package description, since it's a shell script, I guess
it's working on Windows 64bits too.
You could replace the term Win32 with Windows in that case.

I've packaged the new upstream release of libmesh, tried to fix most of the
 bugs,
and made it available [1]. There are a few issues that need review, which I
don't fully understand: there were some dpkg-shlibdeps warnings that led me
 to
disable metis, netcdf and exodus support, the warnings were of the style:

dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: symbol ex_put_elem_block used by
debian/libmesh0.6.2/usr/lib/libmesh.so.0.6.2 found in none of the libraries

I'm not sure why libmesh.so is not being linked against libexodus.so,
 libnetcdf.so or libmetis.

Also, if you have some way of checking ABI compatibility, it would be great.
 As
I was not able to check it and I afraid there might be some ABI breakage.

In any case, I don't have access to the svn, so if you accept it please
 commit it.

 libboost_python-gcc41-1_34_1.so.1.34.1

This is indeed painful. vegastrike has other serious problems for now
that should be fixed by packaging a new upstream version some time soon
(I'll start this week, although I don't know how much time it will
take). I'll fix this bug at this time (and you'll get a much more
up-to-date version as well !)

  Thanks for the report,

I encountered this a couple of weeks ago...

Hmm, I'm afraid I can't upload any fixed packages ATM - _still_
waiting for keyring maintainer :-(

Does running tkdiff with a specific version of tcl/tk help - i.e. if
you edit /usr/bin/tkdiff and change /usr/bin/wish to say
/usr/bin/wish8.4 ?

I've just tried running it here under 8.5 and it started up fine using
.tkdiff of:
set opts(textopt) {-background white -foreground gray  -font 6x13 -wrap none}

This also affects mplayer since it also uses this code.
   A patch is available on:
   http://hg.debian.org/hg/xine-lib/xine-lib?cmd=changeset;node=12cb075fba8ea09813fc35e0c731d2a64265b637;style=raw

I saw a comment of Reimar (that I am CC-ing); he wrote in the mplayer
dev list, saying that mplayer is not affected as badly as xine; anyway
Reimar wrote a short patch, that I will apply tomorrow

Not sure what is meant with as badly but if you mean
 http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-dev-eng/2008-March/056938.html
the patch fixes the same problem in a different way like the
 diff from the xine-lib repository.

I did not check myself I admit, I just assumed from explanations
elsewhere that the xine version was missing some checks on stream_id as
well.
Sorry if I misunderstood (and thus misrepresented) the issue.

Greetings,
Reimar Döffinger

Bug#466261: nsca: Please add LSB formatted dependency info in init.d script

2008-03-30 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

I had a closer look at the package, and this code will not work as
expected with dependency based boot sequencing. The defaults-call to
update-rc.d will use the LSB header and insert the script at its
expected location, but the call using stop 16 2 3 4 5 . will not.

This means that the provided patch is not sufficient for this package.

Bug#473379: deluser incorrectly warns that a group has no more members

2008-03-30 Thread Geert Uytterhoeven
Package: adduser
Version: 3.107

When deleting a user which is a member of the `users' group, `deluser'
gives an incorrect warning:

| [10:58:14]~# deluser foo
| Removing user `foo' ...
| Warning: group `users' has no more members.
| Done.
| [10:59:14]~#

While there are no members of this group left in /etc/group:

| [10:59:37]~# grep users /etc/group
| users:x:100:
| [10:59:45]~#

there are still several users who have `100' as their default gid in
/etc/passwd.

Bug#473383: /usr/bin/glade-3: Cannot create a two-pages notebook

2008-03-30 Thread Johan Walles
Package: glade
Version: 3.4.3-1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/glade-3

Do this:
* Start Glade.
* Add a window.
* Select the Notebook tool from the Containers category.
* Click in the window you just created.

A dialog opens that asks you how many pages you want in your notebook. The
default is three.
Pressing the up button increases the value.

Pressing the down button has no effect. Entering 2 and tabbing away from the
entry field has no
effect; the number is changed back to what it was before you changed it to 2.

Creating a three-page notebook, and then changing its Number of pages
property in the General
tab doesn't work either.

It seems as if I can add pages to notebooks, but I cannot remove them.

I would like to use Glade to create a two-page notebook.

  Regards //Johan

Bug#473381: cdbs: patchsys-quilt.mk should follow quilt convention

2008-03-30 Thread Raphael Hertzog
Package: cdbs
Version: 0.4.51
Severity: normal

Since quilt uses the patches directory by default, patchsys-quilt.mk
creates a symlink patches - debian/patches/. This is the wrong way to do
it IMO.

You should have a behaviour similar to the what quilt recommends: see the
/usr/share/quilt/quilt.make file. It calls quilt that way:
QUILT_PATCHES=$(QUILT_PATCH_DIR) quilt --quiltrc /dev/null push -a || test $$?
= 2

It's better since:
- the user configuration doesn't mess up with the behaviour of the build
(which in itself warrants an important bug IMO)
- it doesn't create a useless symlink (see how this symlink can create
problems in some unexpected way when trying to convert a package to
using a new source package format:
  http://lists.debian.org/debian-dpkg/2008/03/msg00195.html)

Thanks for your work.

 Hello,

see the attached file called result
 (/usr/share/bug/xserver-xorg/script 3 result)

Looks like the monitor's EDID is broken:
(II) intel(0): Max H-Image Size [cm]: horiz.: 33 vert.: 21
[...]
(II) intel(0): clock: 71.2 MHz Image Size: 289 x 21 mm

We may have to add a quirk in the server.

Cheers,
Julien
