Bug#520744: _SC_GETGR_R_SIZE_MAX returned on amd64 too small

2009-04-24 Thread Andreas Unterkircher

What is the example code supposed to do? I have no problem executing it
here:
$ ./group
buffer size from sysconf: 1024
gid: 124

It discovers what buffer size is necessary to successfully resolve
the group id on two amd64 systems I'm using here.

If you look at [1], I encounter problems with a group which has
many members. For that one the default 1024 bytes of
_SC_GETGR_R_SIZE_MAX are not enough. Also we found out, that all
groups which are placed below that group in /etc/group - and
really from the position in the /etc/group file, not from gid
order - fail too.

I can do further tests on these systems if you want me to.

Cheers,
Andreas

Bug#516798: Solution for the sable release

2009-04-24 Thread BRUCKER Damien

Hello

Here is the solution for the stable release of hal:

If the user name is not registered is the powerdev group, you must enter under
root:

#adduser your_user_name powerdev

This gets the message to disapear on my system.

NB: According to the readme.debian file, another solution could be using the
console-kit package, but I have not tested it.

Well. So that was kind of a brown-paper-bag bugreport.

I had been certain that I had checked the hard limits for the first
report, but I can't reproduce any problem now either, even with the
old kernel. I'm sorry.

And what about Lenny? Does this DFSG violation need a fix in stable
 distribution?

Good question.

$ tar zft slime_20080223.orig.tar.gz | grep xref
slime-20080223/contrib/slime-xref-browser.el
slime-20080223/xref.lisp

Damn. We have the problem in stable too. I'll prepare a fix for that...
But how. As I need to use a new 'upstream' version, I would have to use
a new epoch... not?

Sure. I would have just uploaded it but I noticed that you are using VCS-bzr

to change the bullet chracters in the long description to '*' to make sure
`apt-cache show` will not stumble upon it. Just tell me once you have done
it to save me the time to lern how to commit to bzr and I'll upload the

Kind regards and thanks for working on this

The attached patch bundle (against ‘3.0.1/unstable’ branch) addresses

As already said debian/copyright got completely reworked in 3.1, fixing
this, too.

It still remains to correct the address in the upstream source,
 preferably in collaboration with upstream.

For at least THIRDPARTYLICENSE.html, upstream claims it's done in 3.1, too:

If you want to configure your device via
/etc/network/interfaces *and* manage the device with NM, then you have to
 set managed=true in
 /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf (and kill nm-system-settings)

Please let me know, if that fixes your problem.

It almost certainly doesn't. WLAN not working prompted me to fiddle with
/etc/network/interfaces, I didn't have anything in there from a fresh lenny
install when I used nm/lenny (or squeeze) and knetworkmanager (worked fine
in KDE4, but I now wanted to use the KDE4 widget...)

But it's possible that with experimenting around and deciding that I'd write
a bug report, /etc/network/interfaces was not clean when I took the log for
the bug report. Will try to send more info over the weekend when I have
time and WLAN.

I completely forgot about this bug, sorry :)  Maybe it's too obsolete now...

This patch changes the name of a bunch of variables (kde code is hard
to understand), adds docs, and (to actually fix the bug), adds a
signal itemSelected - slotResetAffect... This resets the affect
position pointer every time we select a new view so operations happen
on the new view until the user makes a new right click.  I also
removed some calls to the reset function which are redundant now.

This also fixes moving a tab after moving *to* a different tab using
shift+arrow which I didn't notice in the original report.

I forgot about it too, so.. :)
Current yakuake version is 2.9.4 made to work with KDE 4.2 in unstable, did
you made the patch against the KDE 3 version of the current KDE 4 one?
FWIW, I can not reproduce your problem in current KDE 4 from unstable.

 Ana

The patch is against the kde3 version 2.8.1-1.

I don't really want to install all of kde4 to test this bug is fixed;
it's a 100mb download and I'm still a bit nervous about losing the
functions I rely on currently ;). Just in case I wasn't exact enough,
here is a precise sequence which triggers the bug:

- open yakuake
- open a new terminal
- click on the first terminal
- open a new terminal
- ctrl+shift left
- nothing happens (it's trying to move terminal #1 left)
- ctrl+shift left again
- now the current terminal moves

If it is fixed... well, no harm I guess, but it would be nice to see a
2.8.1-2 for the kde3 holdouts (or perhaps even yakuake-kde3 package?).

Thanks for your attention.

The upstream bug together with the patch can be found here[1]. The issue
can only be exploited by querying a malicious server and even then the
 overflow is fairly limited.

For unstable, I suggest that we wait for the p7 upstream release, which
appears to be not far away. For stable and oldstable we need to do the
security dance.

Bug#520744: _SC_GETGR_R_SIZE_MAX returned on amd64 too small

  Hi,
attached testcase shows that the buffersize for getgrent_r returned via
sysconf(_SC_GETGR_R_SIZE_MAX) is too small on amd64. Using the returned
1024 byetes results in ERANGE. i386 and ppc also use 1024 bytes which
  works fine.
While returning -1 is from sysconf is o.k., a too low value certainly is
not. Can this be fixed in a Lenny point release since it might break
  arbitrary software on this architecture?

What is the example code supposed to do? I have no problem executing it
 here:
 $ ./group
 buffer size from sysconf: 1024
 gid: 124
As long as you're not seeing a Increased buffer to ... message from
the testcase it's working as expected. When you see the Increasing
buffer to ... message the buffer size returned by sysconf is too small
(which is the bug were looking for).
The group that caused the trouble for Andreas had about 70 members (with
a line length in /etc/group of about 515 bytes). No nscd involved.
Cheers,

Bug#525385: ffmpeg segfault png to ogg conversion

2009-04-24 Thread D Haley

Subject: ffmpeg segfault png to ogg conversion
Package: ffmpeg
Version: 3:0.svn20090303-1
Severity: normal

ffmpeg crashes every time when attempting to convert some png files to ogg
files. The files were generated from scilab EPS output using imagemagick with
convert EPSFILE -depth 8 PNGFILE. The sequence seems to crash somewhere in
libgtheora after a given number of png files. Each file is individually
openable in gqview.

I have provided a link to a script (with png files) which shows this behaviour.

Bug#525344: libvte9: backspace in screen does nothing when using “automatic” compatibility mode

2009-04-24 Thread Josselin Mouette
Le jeudi 23 avril 2009 à 23:12 +0200, Yves-Alexis Perez a écrit :
since quite some time, both in xfce4-terminal and gnome-terminal, using the
compatibility option “Automatic” for the backspace key doesn't work in
 screen.

Interesting. It works with launching screen over SSH on an etch system,
but not with the local one from sid. Something may have changed in
screen.

From outside, it seems to work fine, but in screen, pressing backspace does
nothing. If setting the compatibility option to Control-H, it works, but
then it breaks some other apps when waiting for input (like svn and
 openssl, iirc).

FYI, gnome-terminal uses “ASCII DEL” as default setting, and it seems to
work with screen (both versions), openssl, and approximately everything
I use in a terminal.

Bug#525387: jabref: Does not work with XMonad window manager

2009-04-24 Thread Harri Kiiskinen
Package: jabref
Version: 2.3.1-6
Severity: important

JabRef starts with an empty window when used with XMonad window manager.

I have tried variuous different java versions from Debian with command line,
and the default installation from GNOME menu, and whatever I do, JabRef birngs
up first the splash screen as it should, and
then opens up a window, which XMonad resizes and places where it does, but the
window remains completely empty. Just a grey box, where nothing works. No error
messages appear, if started from the
terminal, and the program does not seem to hang, it just does not show anything
in the window, either. Control-C in the terminal or closing the window is the
only way out.

Bug#525344: libvte9: backspace in screen does nothing when using “automatic” compatibility mode

Ok, just a summary, from an unstable box
ASCII DEL:
- works in local screen (4.0.3-13)
- doesn't work via ssh to an etch screen (4.0.3-0.3+b1)
- works via ssh to a lenny screen (4.0.3-11)
- works via ssh to a rhel5 screen (4.0.3-1.el5)
- doesn't work via ssh to a rhel3 screen (3.9.15-10)

Automatic:
- doesn't work in local screen
- doesn't work via ssh to an etch screen
- works via ssh to a lenny screen
- works via ssh to a rhel5 screen
- doesn't work via ssh to a rhel3 screen

Control-H:
- works in local screen
- works via ssh to an etch screen
- works via ssh to a lenny screen
- works via ssh to a rhel5 screen
- works via ssh to a rhel3 screen

This looks that the perfect stuff for me, except that it breaks in
vim/etch.

Escape-sequence:
- doesn't work in local terminal
- doesn't work in local screen

(no real point to dig further then).

Bug#525101: wpasupplicant: does not reassociate after suspend-resume cycle

2009-04-24 Thread Marcus Better
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Some additional info: It often does not reassociate with an access point
after resume. After resuming, iwconfig shows the correct SSID of the
new network, but says Access Point: none.

Moreover this can happen even if I stay in the same network.

Here is /var/log/wpa_cli.log after resume. I can see that it tries to
get a DHCP lease but fails. (I then get a zeroconf address.) Looks like
a possible race condition where DHCP runs too early and then gives up
perhaps? But I don't know why iwconfig indicates that it is not associated.

Bug#493185: v86d doesn't work from initramfs

On 2009-04-23 23:13 +0200, Evgeni Golov wrote:

 problem :)
Instead of adding anything to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules, just append
 video=uvesafb:mode_option=MODE
 to your kernel boot parameters.
With this and a recent kernel (I tried 2.6.29 from Debian and a
self-build 2.6.30-rc3), uvesafb works just fine (even without building
 v86d with x86emu or klibc).

Could you test this on your setups and tell me whether it works or not?

It does indeed seem to work. Incidentally, the way documented in
Documentation/fb/uvesafb.txt:

video=uvesafb:1280x1024-32

does not quite work right, it only gave me a 640x480 screen, but

video=uvesafb:mode_option=1280x1024-32

worked fine. Anyway, I had stopped using uvesafb on my PC anyway,
because

- my crappy graphics card BIOS ignores refresh rate settings, always
  using 60 Hz like with vesafb;

- v86d does not work on i386 systems with a 64-bit kernel because
  of #492470.

Sven

Bug#525389: vpnc: MTU calculation fails when default-route is missing

2009-04-24 Thread Philipp Matthias Hahn
Package: vpnc
Version: 0.5.1r334-1
Severity: normal

In my environemnt our DHCP returns a bogus-default-route, which I remove
in a custom /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/ script, because the
gateway blocks most outbound traffic expect than a very limited subset
of 134.106.*. My script bascially does this by doing

case $reason,`iwgetid -s $interface` in
BOUND,vpnhrzb|BOUND,uniOLwlan)
vpn_gw=$new_routers
unset new_routers

This breaks the MTU calculation in /etc/vpnc/vpnc-script, because in
do_ifconfig()
DEV=$($IPROUTE route | grep ^default | sed 's/^.* dev
\([[:alnum:]-]\+\).*$/\1/')
returns no default route and thus DEV is empty.

Since the script is not really interested in the MTU to the
default-gateway but to the VPN-gateway, I propose to change the function
to something like the following: ip route get returns the mtu used to
reach the VPN-gateway; directly use that value and substract 88 for the
IPSec-headers. If that fails, fall back to 1412.

do_ifconfig() {
test -n $IPROUTE \
 MTU=$(($($IPROUTE route get $VPNGATEWAY | sed -ne 's/^.*
mtu \([[:digit:]]\+\).*$/\1/p') - 88)) \
|| MTU=1412

ifconfig $TUNDEV inet $INTERNAL_IP4_ADDRESS $ifconfig_syntax_ptp
$INTERNAL_IP4_ADDRESS netmask ${INTERNAL_IP4_NETMASK:-255.255.255.255} mtu
${MTU} up
}

(For sid (untested:)
do_ifconfig() {
if [ -n $INTERNAL_IP4_MTU ]; then
MTU=$INTERNAL_IP4_MTU
else
test -n $IPROUTE MTU=$(($($IPROUTE route get $VPNGATEWAY
| sed -ne 's/^.* mtu \([[:digit:]]\+\).*$/\1/p') - 88)) || MTU=1412
fi

# Point to point interface require a netmask of 255.255.255.255 on some
systems
ifconfig $TUNDEV inet $INTERNAL_IP4_ADDRESS $ifconfig_syntax_ptp
$INTERNAL_IP4_ADDRESS netmask 255.255.255.255 mtu ${MTU} up

if [ -n $INTERNAL_IP4_NETMASK ]; then
set_network_route $INTERNAL_IP4_NETADDR $INTERNAL_IP4_NETMASK
$INTERNAL_IP4_NETMASKLEN
fi
}

Charles Plessy wrote:

Dear VoIP Team,

In the hope of speeding up and strenghtening the processing of the NEW queue I
had a look at your package. The rationale is explained in the proposal in the
following wiki page:

http://wiki.debian.org/CopyrightReview

I noted that the `licencecheck` tool from the `devscipts` pacakges finds some
source files that are licenced under a BSD-style licence and that are not
documented in debian/copyright.

anx159《ptlib-2.4.2》$ licensecheck -r . | grep BSD

../src/ptclib/speex_echo/preprocess.c: BSD (3 clause)

Since the administrators of our FTP archive are also using licensecheck, it is
probably safer to re-upload a package with an updated copyright file to prevent
rejection of your upload. This will not make ptilb go backwards in the queue.

Have a nice day,

Hi,

I added information about all these files.

Mark, if it feels good to you, please update the changelog file
accordingly and re-do an upload.

this problem still exists in the current sid version of initramfs-tools.
Any plans for updating the framebuffer script?
Most fb drivers use mode_option instead now (and some use both for
compatibility reasons).

Bug#524999: libpam-modules: memlock setting from limits.conf ignored in 1.0.1-9

Well. So that was kind of a brown-paper-bag bugreport.

I had been certain that I had checked the hard limits for the first
report, but I can't reproduce any problem now either, even with the
 old kernel. I'm sorry.

It's a common mistake, and I was genuinely concerned that there was a
regression here given the degree to which the pam_limits handling has been
in flux, so I thank you for the bug report all the same. :)

Bug#493185: v86d doesn't work from initramfs

  problem :)
Instead of adding anything to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules, just append
  video=uvesafb:mode_option=MODE
  to your kernel boot parameters.

Incidentally, the way documented in
 Documentation/fb/uvesafb.txt:

 video=uvesafb:1280x1024-32

does not quite work right, it only gave me a 640x480 screen, but

 video=uvesafb:mode_option=1280x1024-32

 worked fine.

Yeah, this is #439846 :(

Anyway, I had stopped using uvesafb on my PC anyway,
 because

 - my crappy graphics card BIOS ignores refresh rate settings, always
   using 60 Hz like with vesafb;

 - v86d does not work on i386 systems with a 64-bit kernel because
   of #492470.

Mh, in the meantime I dont need to rebuild with x86emu for my Radeon
X1400. But I dont have amd64 either, maybe Corsac want's to test this?
:)

Bug#523502: Could somebody upload this? TIA. (was RFS: quick-lounge-applet (updated package))

2009-04-24 Thread Adeodato Simó
Uhm, thanks for trying to sponsor, and I’m sorry it failed. I’m CC'ing
the maintainer (Diego Fernández) so that he can take a look at fixing.

Diego, according to Josselin Mouette, the problem is that the
GnomeDItemEdit API has been removed in GNOME 2.26, and quick-lounge-applet
should be ported to use GKeyFile instead. Fortunately, Joss said there’s
a new upstream version of q-l-a that does this. Could you prepare an
upload?

Thanks both!

  Dear mentors,

I'll take a look on this.

Bug#525392: blogspam not working (silently?)

2009-04-24 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
Package: ikiwiki
Version: 3.04~bpo50+1
Severity: normal

I've enabled blogspam to filter out SPAMmy comments on my
comment-enabled ikiwiki-based blog (available and clonable via
webcheckout at http://upsilon.cc/~zack/blog).

Apparently however, no comment gets filtered, and I regularly receive
SPAMmy comment that I then revert. As I revert them, they are
available to review in the history from my gitweb [1,2,3,4,5].

This can be sub-standard quality bug report, as I haven't yet dwelved
(due to lack of time) into the plugin code or into the machinery of
blogspam.net. I've reported it nevertheless because the problem seems
to be shared by other people on #ikiwiki.

Some more info:
- the machine is a Lenny system running ikiwiki from backports,
version as in the bug report pseudo header
- librpc-xml-perl is installed, version 0.60-3 (not listed below
because I'm reporting the bug from my laptop machine)
- I have no relevant ikiwiki error entries in my Apache's error.log
- I haven't checked the blogspam.net API on the incriminated comments,
if it is their fault we can somehow forward this bug report to
  Steve

As always, many thanks for ikiwiki! :-)
Cheers.

Bug#525395: please implement the rel-nofollow microformat for blog comments

2009-04-24 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
Package: ikiwiki
Version: 3.10
Severity: wishlist

Howdy,
it would be super-cool to implement the rel-nofollow microformat
[1] for links coming from blog comments (both for in-markup links and
for links on author names). That way, SPAM-ish comments (or even
abused trackbacks) wouldn't be considered as forming reputation by
search engine spiders.

I'm aware of the more general feature request about implementing
rel-nofollow [2] and I (partly) understand that it can be tricky to
implement; on the contrary, implementing it specifically for blog
comments can be easier by relying on comment page naming convention,
which I believe is already considered elsewhere.

Many thanks in advance!
Cheers.

This looks wrong, what happens if you use:
 S-invoice_details(\%myconfig, $form);

 $form is a ref
%$form is the hash behind the ref
\%$form is a new ref of the hash behind the $form ref

I agree - this does look wrong, but whether invoice_details is operating on
the original ref to form ($form) or a new ref to the same form (\%$form), it
should be the same form being operated on.

I did in fact change it to exactly* what you suggest and it made no difference
to the errors I saw. (* typo s/S/IS/ accepted)

I'm not sure that the errors seen should ever be possible to provoke - even
with maliciously crafted perl.. I'm getting the feeling this is a bug in the
perl binary, but I don't really know.

Bug#525399: ftp.debian.org: override disparity videocut

2009-04-24 Thread Patrick Matthäi
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

their is an override disparity with the package videocut. The override
says, it is section kde, which was wrong in my first initial uploads,
because it does not need KDE (just Qt4) and runs fine without kdelibs on
any other WM.

Please change the section to the changed one x11.

Thanks and cheers.

Bug#525398: gallery2: Upgrade from 1.2.0.8 to 1.3.0 fails. Missing or invalid config.php

2009-04-24 Thread Darryl Luff
Package: gallery2
Version: 2.3-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After an 'aptitude upgrade' the next time I accessed gallery2 I was directed to
/gallery2/upgrade/index.php. At Step 0, the message said:

'Missing or invalid config.php
You tried to run the upgrade process but a valid config.php is missing.'

config.php exists in /etc/gallery2, and there is a symlink to it from
/usr/share/gallery2/config.php

There is a link to 'Go to the Gallery 2 Installer'. Stepping through the
installer, at the 'System Checks' screen everything is fine except there are 4
missing files (all readmes, license and COPYING.lib) and 36 modified files.

Continuing on, I change the data directory to /data/gallery2/g2data.

At 'Database Setup' it detects the existing tables and I opt to reuse them.

At step 7, 'Create Config File', I get an error 'The installed version is older
than the new version. You should run the upgrader and not the installer'. It
displays the currently installed version as 1.2.0.8 and the new version as
1.3.0.

If I go back to the upgrader the above cycle repeats.

Package: cyrus-imapd-2.3

Hello,

upstream declared 2.3 as the stable release since some time
(The latest stable/current release of the IMAP server is 2.3.14...
http://cyrusimap.web.cmu.edu/downloads.html) IMHO the 2.3 packages should
be uploaded to sid to test them there with a wider userbase.
Doing this later the less time until the next release and you can drop
work on 2.2 in sid/squeeze;)

Thanks.

Bug#525402: kdelibs5: No support for HTTP protocol

2009-04-24 Thread Nicos Gollan
Package: kdelibs5
Version: 4:4.2.2-2
Severity: important

Konqueror and other applications report missing support for the HTTP
protocol. Error messages are e.g.:

KOrganizer:

Konqueror:

Console output and strace show no irregularities.

Other protocols handled by the HTTP KIOslave like WebDAV and HTTPS are
working. This happens on a fresh user account. Tried purging kdelibs5 and all
packages depending on it without success.

Bug#525394: apt-build fails when aptget is set to anything other than apt-get

2009-04-24 Thread William Orr
Package: apt-build
Version: 0.12.37
Severity: normal

apt-build supports changing the apt utility in the config file and on the
command line, however when
this is set to anything other than apt-get, everything breaks, and nothing
works.

This is mostly because the options that apt-build passes to the apt command are
apt-get specific. This includes the --yes option enabled by default. Setting yes
= 0 in the config file fixes some apt-build commands, like apt-build update, yet
others are still broken. This is because --print-uris, which is used to grab the
package names of files that need to be downloaded in commands like apt-build
upgrade, is again, apt-get specific.

The easiest way to fix this is to either remove the aptget option altogether,
and use apt-get exclusively in the backend, or specifically use apt-get in
functions that
absolutely need to use the --print-uris flag.

Functions that don't work with alternative aptget's:
upgrade
install
source
build-source
update-source
world
info

If you wanna do the latter of the above two options, you can fix source,
build-source and update-source just by adding a dependency to apt-src and
calling that instead.

If you can figure out an alternative way to get the list
of packages that are gonna be pulled in by the various commands you use that
doesn't use --print-uris, then it might be worth it to keep the aptget config
option. But given the amount of commands that *require* apt-get at this point,
it doesn't look like it's worth it to keep that option around.

Package: xfce4-terminal
Version: 0.2.8-5
Severity: normal

If I want to re-bind a keyboard shortcut (via Edit - Preferences -
Shortcuts), I can't use the keyboard to do it, because:
a) The keyboard accelerator to clear the selected Terminal shortcut is ^C, but
if you press this, it actually re-binds the selected Terminal shortcut to ^C
(it should clear it instead)
b) The keyboard accelerator to cancel the compose shortcut action is also ^C,
which conflicts with said clear keyboard accelerator.

Bug#525404: gnupg: wrong french translation for tsign help in edit key

2009-04-24 Thread Olivier Berger
Package: gnupg
Version: 1.4.9-4
Severity: minor
Tags: l10n

French help in edit-key menu are :
signsigner les noms d'utilisateurs sélectionnés [* voir ci-dessous pour
les commandes similaires]
lsign signer le nom d'utilisateur sélectionné localement
tsign signer les noms d'utilisateurs sélectionnés localement
nrsign signer les noms d'utilisateurs sélectionnés avec une signature

whereas the english counterpart is :
signsign selected user IDs [* see below for related commands]
lsign sign selected user IDs locally
tsign sign selected user IDs with a trust signature
nrsign sign selected user IDs with a non-revocable signature

There's a bug on the tsign translation to french which doesn't mention the
trust signature ... and the discrepency between others and lsign's need to be
fixed IMHO also.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

   Hi,
attached testcase shows that the buffersize for getgrent_r returned via
sysconf(_SC_GETGR_R_SIZE_MAX) is too small on amd64.

I have no problem executing it
  here:
  $ ./group
  buffer size from sysconf: 1024

The title of the bug is actually misleading given that the problem is
not specific to amd64 at all. It appears with a smaller line on 64-bit
systems than 32-bit systems, due to the fact that pointers to the
strings are bigger.

That said I don't fully understand POSIX here. What should happen if a
line in /etc/group needs more memory than sysconf(_SC_GETGR_R_SIZE_MAX)?
The line should be truncated? As far as I understand user can create as
many entries as he wants there, so _SC_GETGR_R_SIZE_MAX can only be
defined to an arbitrary value.

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents
creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted
in the crash.

The same as in the kopete bug, please install the -dbg packages and recreate
the crash.

Regards, Lisandro.

None have a corresponding -dbg package.

The manpage (as well as posix) says:

The maximum needed size for buf can be found using sysconf(3) with the
argument _SC_GETGR_R_SIZE_MAX.

I don't understand how this is supposed to work with arbitrary large
groups given that gr_mem is part of the buffer. It's probaly just a
documentation bug that should read minimum instead of maximum?

Since sysconf is allowed to return -1 we need to check for ERANE anyway,
see e.g. [1].

Actually I still had some packages from debian multimedia, although

Now everything's fine. Priceless help!!!

Bug#525408: empathy: Not saving password makes account disappear

2009-04-24 Thread Ivan Vilata i Balaguer
Package: empathy
Version: 2.26.1-1
Severity: important

While trying to migrate from Pidgin to Empathy I noticed that not saving the
password of a Jabber account makes it disappear. To reproduce it:

1. Open the Accounts dialog/wizard/options/whatever window.
2. Follow the usual procedure to create an account for an exisiting Jabber
account of yours, but *don't set a password*.
3. Close the Accounts window.
4. Open it again. Voila, the account is gone.

A possibly related effect is Empathy not importing Pidgin accounts that don't
have a stored password. The account appears in the importable account list,
but the account doesn't get imported.

Thanks,

Hi, I borrowed the following patch from ubuntu forums. It seems it has been
already applied to the upstream.

2009-04-24 Thread Sander Marechal
Same problem here on Debian Lenny.

/etc/apache2/mods-available/gnutls.conf (which is added by Debian) says
that there is memcache support. When I turn it on and restart Apacke2 I
get this:

# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
Restarting web server: apache2Syntax error on line 6 of
/etc/apache2/mods-enabled/gnutls.conf:

Memcached is installed and running fine on my system. Please rebuild for

supported.

Bug#525401: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg prevents rhythmbox from starting

2009-04-24 Thread Fabio Natali
Package: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: important

As stated in the subject, gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg prevents rhythmbox from
starting. When launching rhythmbox from the command line I get:

--
$ rhythmbox

ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstffmpeg.so

Please either:
- remove it and restart.
- run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.
Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal
Run 'rhythmbox --help' to see a full list of available command line options.
--

Rhythmbox version is 0.12.0-2.

I need gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg to play .asx radio streams.

Rhythmbox works fine when gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg is purged, a part from playing
.asx streams.

Do you know of any solutions or workarounds?

Kind regards! Fabio.

Bug#523502: Could somebody upload this? TIA. (was RFS: quick-lounge-applet (updated package))

2009-04-24 Thread Diego Fernández Durán
Hi all!

I'll try to package the new upstream version as soon as posible (probably
tonight or tomorrow night).
About the cowbuilder error, I successfully compiled 2.12.5-6 package with
pdebuild. I don't know exactly what is failing. I hope the new upstream
version works better with the new libraries.

 Thanks :)

Uhm, thanks for trying to sponsor, and I’m sorry it failed. I’m CC'ing

If I want to re-bind a keyboard shortcut (via Edit - Preferences -
Shortcuts), I can't use the keyboard to do it, because:
 a) The keyboard accelerator to clear the selected Terminal shortcut is
^C, but if you press this, it actually re-binds the selected Terminal
shortcut to ^C (it should clear it instead)
 b) The keyboard accelerator to cancel the compose shortcut action is
also ^C, which conflicts with said clear keyboard accelerator.

Hmhm, you should still be able to use the keyboard via the tab and space
keys. But yes, it seems that using the same accelerator for two opposite
things might not be a really good idea :)

I'll forward that upstream.

Comments/Problems:
Had several problems. During graphic install, the process hanged after
deleting a partition. Had to switch to console and reboot the system.
Graphic install also had a display issue, with the top logo not being
shown - a browser like broken image icon was shown.

Text installation went almost fine: one small display glitch (window
text overlapping with Go back and OK buttons).

Most annoying issue (__also present with Lenny version__) was the system
failing to give correct hard disks ids to grub. Explanation: the system
identified /dev/hda as first disk, /dev/sda as second, /dev/sdb as
third. On normal boot /dev/sda is hd0 which clearly broke grub setup.
Had to manually edit menu.lst to replace hd1 with hd0, would be nice to
have a manually verify grub settings option

The other major issue was with X displaying totally broken colors and
graphic on default setup with my HD 4870. Installing fglrx drivers
fixed the problem, but the graphic system was unusable at start.

my request isn't to primary to get a new version. Its to get _a_ 2.3
version into sid (and not like now experimental). IMHO its a different
request than #454498 which is a new upstream version request.
If the plan is to upload the latest 2.3.14 to sid both requests can be
closed but if 2.3.14 will be uploaded to experimental then #454498 can
be closed but #525391/this one not.

Bug#525415: v86d: CFLAGS setting includes random kernel headers

2009-04-24 Thread Sven Joachim
Package: v86d
Version: 0.1.9-1
Severity: normal

The following two lines should be removed from the Makefile:

,
| KDIR ?= /lib/modules/$(shell uname -r)/source
| [...]
| CFLAGS += -I$(KDIR)/include
`

The package builds fine if $KDIR does not exist, and including random
headers from the kernel du jour on the build system is superfluous and
potentially harmful.

Bug#525414: nvidia-graphics-drivers: damages some Fujitsu notebook

2009-04-24 Thread A Mennucc
Package: nvidia-graphics-drivers
Version: 180.44-2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

hi, this advisory has appeared into
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=131849

Please note that the NVIDIA 180.51 Linux graphics driver
fixed an interaction problem that resulted in corruption of the internal
flatpanel's EDID on the Fujitsu Technology Solutions Celsius H270 notebook.

Using earlier NVIDIA Linux drivers on the Celsius H270 notebook will result
in a corrupt EDID, which will persist across reboots. If you encounter
this problem on a Celsius H270 notebook, please contact Fujitsu Technology
Solutions technical support to correct the EDID.

NVIDIA and Fujitsu recommend that all Linux Celsius H270 notebook
users use NVIDIA Linux graphics drivers 180.51 or later, and
that anyone repackaging a 180.xx NVIDIA Linux graphics driver upgrade to
 180.51.

This interaction problem is also resolved in the 185.19 beta release.
 Thank you,
 Andy Ritger
 Manager, NVIDIA Linux Graphics Driver

Bug#525418: Default debian installation: Unable to install non-debian packages because the standard linux tools are missing

2009-04-24 Thread Dr. Christoph Gille
Package: Debian Installation CD

Recently I installed lenny and chose the first option Default Desktop PC
environment.

The essential packages gcc, make and linux kernel sources were missing.
Forgotten in lenny?
As a result I was not readily able to set up video accelleration and Virtual
box, only after extensive googleing
for several h I found out how to install the Kernel source.

Expected behavior:
make and C and C++ are essential packages which are part of standard
Unix/Linux installations.
They are required by software during installation or at runtime.
For example embedded C/C++ in Perl or Python or Java are compiled at Runtime.
Since one can not expect from a standard user to know exactly what a compiler
is, these packages belong to the
standard equipment of a computer system (with the exception of Windows).
A Debian PC should be able to install Linux software out of the box.
However, for experts there could be an advanced option to not install these
packages to save the HD space.

Please include standard tools for software installation!

Many thanks

Christoph

Bug#525321: [Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#525321: samba: force create mode option no longer works

2009-04-24 Thread Christian Perrier
Quoting Nick Nobody (m...@nikosapi.org):

What happens when you copy the file ?

I see the same behaviour than the one you see, with 3.3.3. However,
copying the file ends up with the right permissions.

I'm not entirely sure that what you see is a bug, actually. After all,
when moving a file, you expect permissions to remain as they are.

The same thing occurs even if I copy a file.

It doesn't on my side. Copying a file ends up with the expected
permissions.

Which is why I assume that experiencing the problem with mv only is
IMHO maybe not a bug.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug, in the smb.conf manpage it says that the
mode given to the force create mode gets OR'd with the file's
permissions. This guarantees that you'll always have at *least* whatever
force create mode is set to. The way I understand this is: create
mask strips away permissions and force create mode adds them, no?

If I could reproduce the bug when copying a file, I would
agree. However I am not..:-)

Have you considered checking the umask settings which you're using?

sure if you looked through the linux-2.6 sources,
you would see it is not a clear cut. some important
fb driver still use *exclusively* the old module option.
so until someone clears that up changing the param is not the way to go.

Bug#524880: INTERNAL ERROR in setup-storage: convert_unit

2009-04-24 Thread Nicolas Courtel

Michael Tautschnig a écrit :

Package: fai-client

Hello,

First installation with fai 3.2.18, setup-storage fails on a disk config that
seems valid, as it works on the same host with fai 3.2.16.

Following is the debug-enabled fai.log.

Sorry for the late reply; this error seems quite odd - could you help a bit in
debugging this?

Could you please re-start an install and once it aborts as shown above, please
run

- vgdisplay
- perl -w vol.pl (script is attached)

I tried again on the same host this morning, and it's working juste
fine. Although the problem has occured several times on tuesday, event I
after rebuilding the nfsroot it doesn't show up any more today. I have
upgraded to 3.2.19, but it shouldn't make any difference I guess.

The new log is the following:

Does the seqno value, 7 instead of 1, has any importance ?

Bug#525261: use of FPU_SETCW or FPU_GETCW causes illegal instruction on armel

2009-04-24 Thread Aurelien Jarno
clone 525261 -1
reassign -1 gerris
retitle -1 gerris should use fenv.h instead of fpu_control.h
thanks

Martin Guy a écrit :
 Package: glibc
 Version: 2.9-7

/usr/include/fpu_control.h on armel defines FPU_[SG]ETCW as VFP
coprocessor instructions, whereas armel is soft-float.

 #define _FPU_GETCW(cw) \
   __asm__ __volatile__ (mrc p10, 7, %0, cr1, cr0, 0 : =r (cw))
 /* This is fmxr fpscr, %0.  */
 #define _FPU_SETCW(cw) \
   __asm__ __volatile__ (mcr p10, 7, %0, cr1, cr0, 0 : : r (cw))

Packages that use these cause an illegal instruction trap on hardware
that does not have a VFP unit (and misleadingly set the FPU control
word on those that do, while softfloat remains unaffected).

This was highlighted by build failure of gerris - see Drew Parsons' messages
 in
 http://lists.debian.org/debian-arm/2009/04/msg00018.html
He suggests that the right thing for fpu_control.h may be simply not
to define these macros but I don't know if that's right.

According to upstream these macros from fpu_control.h are inherently
nonportable and should only be used by code that knows it is being built
for a particular FPU and knows about how to use it. Normal code should
use fenv.h instead.

The solution is probably to not define those macros on ARM EABI, so that
it causes a build failure. I am therefore cloning the bug tho gerris, so
that fenv.h is used instead of fpu_control.h.

Bug#525393: tracker-search-tool: tracker-applet endlessly notifying some index corruption

2009-04-24 Thread Olivier Berger
Package: tracker-search-tool
Version: 0.6.93-1+b1
Severity: normal

I've had tracker running file for some time, until I got a notification by the
applet of an index corruption :
Tracker
There was an error while performing indexing:
Index corrupted
[Redindex all contents]

I clicked the reindex button provided, and it went away, probably starting the
reindexing.

Later, I received again a similar notice, but this time, it wouldn't went away,
either by closing the notice dialog or clicking the reindexing button.

The dbus dameon started piking in terms of CPU usage... and I had to kill the
applet, trackerd and tracker-indexer to restore to (I hope) normal state.

Btw, there must be something broken, as the dialog reoccurred while wrinting
this report, again with similar symptoms.

Hope this helps,

Bug#522684: File is not larger than 4GiB-1

2009-04-24 Thread Joerg Schilling
Hi,

genisoimage is just a 4+ year old version of mkisofs.
Genisoimage does not support large files. If you like
to use large files, you need to use the original mkisofs from:

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/

Make sure to use mkisofs -iso-level 3 or above.

Bug#525419: pidgin: Unable to minimize by clicking the tray icon when the buddy list is not fully visible.

2009-04-24 Thread Jesper Dahl Nyerup
Package: pidgin
Version: 2.4.3-4lenny1
Severity: normal

Hi.

As I understand, clicking on the tray icon when the buddy list is visible can
invoke two different behaviours:

 - If the buddy list isn't fully visible (e.g. covered by other windows) it is
moved to the topmost layer in the WM, making me able to see it.
 - If the buddy list IS already visible, it is minimized to the tray.

I have found, that the latter feature is unavailable, when the buddy list is
unable to make it self completely visible, either because it's behind always
on top-windows, or if it's moved partially out of the screen.

Kind regards,

Jesper Nyerup
